  • This boxy bag / pouch could be used as a lunch bag or swim bag if made using PUL waterproof fabric for lining and, perhaps, oilcloth for the exterior.
It is a simple technique and, as usual, you should be able to make changes according to your preferences
    The finished bag measures 6” x 12” x 5 ½”
How to make a boxy pouch in different sizes , click here: • How to Make Box Pouche...
How to make a boxy pouch without seams exposed, click here: • Box pouch - No seams e...
    MATERIALS:
    MAIN FABRIC:
    For outside of bag: 2 pieces 18” x 12”
    For handles: 2 pieces: 4” x 31”
    For outside pocket, 1 piece 6” x 5” and 1 piece 6” x 7 ¾”
    LINING FABRIC:
For body of the bag: 2 pieces 18” x 12”
    For internal pocket: 2 pieces 11 ½” x 5”
    You will also need:
Enough fusible stabilizer for both pieces of main fabric that make the body of the bag.
1 zipper longer than 12”, mine was 16” long.
Firm fusible interfacing for the handles, OPTIONAL.

I have to tell you Marcela...I just completed this bag ten minutes ago and had to make sure and tell you thank you (again) for sharing your talent with us! It came out so nice for someone who has only been sewing for less than a year. I am self taught, and only because my children bought me a Project Runway sewing machine about 6 yrs ago and I finally took it out of the box last year cuz I was so intimidated by learning the process. My Gramma died when my Mom (God rest their souls)was only three years old so she never learned to sew (altho I do remember her embroidering a hankee one day). So here I am at 63 yrs of age and after trying a few zipper pouches I thought I'd try one of your beautiful bags. I'm going to use it to put my zippers in that I purchased to make more bags and pouches lol. I wish I could share a pic with you all cuz it's beautiful. My kids and Grandkids will be surprised! Thank you again Marcela , I can't wait to try another of your projects....and sorry for the super long post here, I'm excited LOL

I fully plan on making at least 2 more. I will view other videos by Marcela in the very near future. I highly recommend this project.

Thank you so much for supplying the measurements and not requiring a pattern to be bought. I don’t mind buying the patterns if reasonable and the ones posted on Etsy are usually reasonably priced but I have purchased the PDF patterns on Etsy and it is a nightmare getting the downloads and trying to get help is even worse. That is why I thank you and can’t wait to make this bag.

oh. my. god. my mind is seriously blown 😂 i cant believe you only took 35 minutes to explain in great detail how to make a beautiful bag. and so easy to follow for a beginner! thank you so much! 😍 i have been struggling for 2 days with a pattern i bought because i modified the size, so had to rethink and redraw all the lines. that one has front, bottom and back in 1 piece and 1 piece each for the sides. so much more complicated! also, that pattern doesnt include lining and ive been killing myself, thinking about how to include it! thank you sooo much, great video, loved watching it. ❤ i am in awe at your skills, both sewing and teaching!

@@MarcelasPurse Thank you! :) I have a question. Is it possible to somehow have the lining sewn to the bottom of the bag as well? I have a bag (small one) that has the lining sewn in everywhere (around the top, around the bottom) without visible seams, but also no seams on the outside. Maybe you have an idea? :)

One end of the strap centered in relation to the zipper, pushing the strap inside and making the other end of it come out at the other corner (the strap will be caught when you close those ends). The only issue I had making this is the inside pocket. It seems to just hang there and not attached securely to the bag. I did try sewing up the middle of the pocket-making it two separate pockets and that seemed to help some, but is there any new way if making the pocket more stable so that its a usable pocket?
