I love your instructions and have made many pouches from your video. I made them a number of years ago and had to search today in my UA-cam history to find your video again. Thank you,
What an excellent tutorial, I want to make a makeup bag that fits everything including my brushes. You have explained it so clearly how to make a bespoke bag. I fear maths, I am not good at maths, but you have given me the confidence to go ahead and make it just the right size. Thank you so much xx
I make a lot of zipper pouch and bags and as I scroll through UA-cam looking for an idea close to what I want to make, I always come back to your videos because you explain in such great detail how I can figure out the dimensions for the project I'm working on. Thank you for that. I've used your tutorials for several of my bags and pouches.
Thank you for your videos! Thanks to your amazing videos I have learnt how to make and customise box pouches. You helped me to be confident with zips. Bless you! 💜💖🙏🏾😊

Hello, I normally use fusible foam or fusible fleece you can buy both in haberdashery shops and on the internet. Here is a link to a video where I talk about them: ua-cam.com/video/1XgygjK6S5c/v-deo.html Also in this description box is the link for my tutorial showing how I make these pouches step by step.I hope all this is useful 😊
Thank you for this video. May I ask if you could check this out for me if I got it right. Bag 14” wide x 3 deep x 13 wide. Plus 1/4 in seam allowance. Squares corner 1 1/2”. I need to add 1/4 inch where needed. Am I going the right way?
@@fralou1 hello, I am a bit confused about your question, are you asking about allowance for the square corners? 😊 To clarify, once you have decided the size of the sides of your pouch, you will have to add 1/4" seam allowance on all four sides of your pieces of fabric, then you cut the 1 1/2" squares ( you will have already added seam allowance, so you just cut the square in the size you need). You can practice cutting two pieces of paper and fold them to create the shape of your pouch ( folding also the edges for seam allowance) and attach them with sticky tape. I have done that sometimes and found it very useful. If you still have doubts, please message me again. 😊
How do you know what zipper length you need? Does it just need to be longer than your bag's finished width? Also, do you need to adjust the size of the tabs (the part you hold for zipping) if you resize the bag?
About the zipper: yes, in my case I wanted the width to be 8", so any zipper longer than that would work (about 2" longer), if it is too long, you just cut off the excess when sewing the pieces of fabric together. The reason for a longer zipper is that you do not have the start and the end of the zipper exposed at the end and you give the pouch a better finish, it is also much easier to sew it in place. About the tabs: you can decide how big and long you want them, experiment folding a piece of fabric and pin it to the pouch before actually sewing it to it until you are satisfied with the size. I hope this helps 😊
You say in the description of this bag you have the different sizes and how much material to cut out I cannot find your description of this video when I tap the first video it takes me to your previous box video thanks for helping.
Hi Marcella. Is there anyway I can find the measurement of the fabric for your original boxy pouch. I have searched and searched but unable to Find it. Thank you
Hello Christine, all my tutorials have full information on the description box below the video, I put a link to that particular video in this description box, but here is the link for you again : ua-cam.com/video/mS1vRUtWlMY/v-deo.html When you get to the tutorial, just click on the little arrow that looks like this : "V" on the bottom right side corner. You will see the list of materials and measurements. Happy sewing. 😊
I love your designs and your tutorials. I would like to make a carry on travel bag following your tutorial on how to change the size of a pouch. The bag has to conform to airplane dimensions which is 22”X14”X9”. I will be using your pattern “Boxy Bag With Handles”. Can I use the instructions from your tutorial to make the bag? If it is possible Then according to your explanation I will have to make the squares 4.5 inches to equal the 9 inch sides. Is that correct? Thank you for sharing your passion and expertise.
Yes, you are correct, the squares should be 4.5 inches, so your pieces of fabric should be 31" × 23" ** 4.5" + 22 "+ 4.5" = 31" *** 4.5 "+ 14 "+ 4.5" = 23" PLUS SEAM ALLOWANCE. If you are working with 1/4" allowance, the fabrics should be 31.5" x 23.5". You might want to increase the seam allowance if the fabric frays easily. Happy sewing! I would like to see the finished product 😊
Thank you so much for making my project so much easier. So now what’s left is where to place the handles. From that calculation I can figure out the pockets. I have made many “Boxy Bag With Handles”. My entire family is equipped with them.
