I have also really enjoyed this performance for days! However, I wonder about the hi-hat hits in the "chorus", they sound a bit off-sync, like reverse backbeat if you know what I mean? Or is that on purpose? On the album they sound more on-point, straight on so to speak.

It was a compliment that I could have def worded it better. As a drummer. I just hate over acting drummers if they're not really feeling it.

This is one of the most incredible performances I have ever seen...And under pressure too....I have listened to this over and over...It gives me an incredible uplifting feeling....It is so good that it can litterally bring me to tears...I have been playing my whole life...So to be moved like that is saying something.

I wouldnt hire a drummer based on gymnastics. I'd hire them on tone, touch and ability to fit the piece. Gymnastic players are ten a penny. Great song players are rare - fortunately i KNOW she's both!!

Anika herself graduated university and took a regular job unrelated to music ( I can't remember what it was ). After 5 years she quit, studied to become a musician. and she's here today many years after that fateful choice. So she's proof that it is possible. But it definitely is a really gutsy and difficult thing to do. Just sharing because I hope her story gives you some perspective. Cheers Fio :)

I've said that before and have to say it again - this phenomenal girl plays like she is having a dozen of precision 'rhythm generators' in her head. Each one with its own properties, working independently. She then somehow manages to control every one of them simultaneously in a real time. She mixes all those rhythms effortlessly, weaving them into sometimes strange, often unexpected combinations and 'nets', thus creating very complex and shockingly beautiful final results. I think she is truly unique in her playing style versus all the other great drummers of today.
Anika playing is not just holding the beat. She is as distinctive as all the other instruments. She ranks along with MP over at Dream Theater! Fabulous talent!
She impresses me more and more as time goes on. You can tell she’s putting in the work, and paired with her creativity and enjoyment while playing... I have trouble describing the result, but it’s fantastic, and inspiring.

Ok... here's the deal... seen some bad ass drummers in my time... I'm 58 yrs old... Tommy Aldridge... Cozy Powell.. The Professor Neil.... and countless others... when I go to a concert all I watch is the drummer... never took a lesson in my life, but I'm able to play around on drums... looked up on how to twirl drum sticks on you tube... could do it with my left hand but not my right... anyway, this video with this good looking lady popped up.... I thought OK, I'll check this out... and after 4 minutes and 44 seconds I was hooked immediately... and I mean immediately... I have uploaded, downloaded, sideloded, backloaded, up side downloaded everything she's put on youtube, metube, ourtube, drumtube, glad to have served in her Country 35 yrs ago in Erlanger, West Germany with the 1st Armored Division.... You are Incredible and I can't get enough of you... I hope to see you in person sometime in the near future... You are Awesome.... Thanks!!!!
