Here's something you might not have known you could do in the Dawnguard DLC. There's a member of the Dawnguard who you can purchase unique spells from that are incredibly effective against the undead, but if you join with the Vampires, you can't get these incredibly effective spells. Or so it seems. If you have a powerful enough calm spell (or the Voice of the Emperor power) you can calm him long enough to speak to him a purchase the spells. I really like doing this as it means I can put one of the spells in one hand and Vampiric Drain in the other, wielding the power of both light and Darkness. Did you know that?
I just recently started a play through with the "change back story" mod so I skipped the helga intro and started off in front of fort dawnstar as a non-dragon born villager (no thu'um) hoping to became a vampire slayer. I just loved how when I defeated the undead dragon in the soul carim, I didn't eat his soul (because it belongs to relm) so I slayed a dragon without revealing myself as dragon born and he named me "vanguisher" or some something like that and since I didn't even start the main story quest he made a reference to the fact that I wasn't a dragonborn yet but that he felt a connection and that maybe in the future I will understand why and that shit made my immersion go through the roof. The DLC took the possibility of you running from the tutorial straight to the DLC main quest as a possibility.
He always calls you "Qahnaarin" or "vanquisher" no matter whether you've done the main quest or not before the starting dlc. However it's a term used only for a Dragon who's slain another Dragon, not for mortals, and if you don't know you're dragonborn yet you can tell him "Fellow Dovah? But I'm not a dragon" to which he replies. "Forgive me, my instinct was to grant you this title. I am uncertain why. Perhaps one day it will become clear to both of us."
@@Zwijger That was the line I was trying to remember, thought it was a pretty cool touch, I knew its impossible to completely play as a non dragon born, you can only role play as a dragon born that unaware he is dragon born and unable to use thu'um but I thought it was a pretty cool touch by Bethesda to make it that you didnt eat his soul sense its bounded to the plain so it didnt ruin your non aware dragon born playthrough. I also kinda like that title better than "Dovah-Kin".
@@CouchLord1 I mean, you are by definition the dragonborn no matter whether you as player decide to discover you are or not but yeah I agree it's a super nice touch that a dragon instantly recognises you to be his kin despite you looking like a mortal. I also like to think that's also why Alduin and Mirmulnir and random dragon encounters attack at cities were the dragonborn is, like they are somehow drawn to another dragon nearby.
Actually, if you've already finished the main quest-line, Durnehviir will instead recognize that you've killed Alduin, the World-Eater, and praise you for being a great adversary.

Wait wait wait. So you're telling me... there is DLC for this game???? Why has no one told me this?! Edit: a lot of people seemed to miss that it was a joke, and that's probably my fault. I have heard of and played all of the DLC. Most of you guys were very polite in saying I should try it. So thank you for that!
I hated the forgotten valley. It was boring and bland, I just wanted to get it over with as fast as possible. If I had a nod that gave me a path directly to the end I would use it without hesitation. I hate mazes and that stupid valley was a dam maze. Only thing worth it was the wordwall. I never went back once I finished the quest. I went back to SC a few times.
There's some unique dialogue that triggers if you try to bring Serana to the Dawnguard, rather than Castle Volkihar after freeing her from Dimhollow. And Isran Specifically tells you to take her home and investigate her family. I'm sure other people found this much sooner, but It took me several playthroughs to actually try it.
You can have a bone hawk amulet and a regular amulet equipped at the same time, plus a ring. So an extra magic piece of equipment possibly with two enchantments. Not really useless. (You have to equip them in the right order to wear them both but it can be done easily with no exploits on console).

Not justifying the deaths of any innocents in Saarthal, but it's clear the Falmer had their own people and civilization to worry about, given his "Provocations and Blasphemy" have been lost to time. One of the female vampires at the vampire castle tells you it is dangerous and inconsiderate for a mortal to wander these halls or something like this. She seems rather considerate for a vampire. It kind of makes up for that other vampire who boasts about the tyranny of the sun. Ain't that hypocritical? Calling the natural order of thing a tyranny, and replacing it... with another - but true - tyranny and praying on mortals on a Tamriel-wide scale.
Did you know you can freely switch between the vampire lord and werewolf if you follow/meet this certain play style 1. become leader of companions then merry aela because she gives the werewolf blood 2. Side with the dawnguard by refusing harkon's bite but before entering the soul carin get bit by serana she can turn you into vampire lord And there you go i managed to get both transformations in one play through and i was able to freely switch between the two
@@paddyblah887 He didn't mean at the same time. He meant you can choose to change to either at any given time, which is only partially true since Aela only re-transforms you once after the 1st time in the underforge (unless marrying her changes that...never done it as Lydia is too cute)
@1Fastpaced Console peasants can always use an exploit to keep both transformations. HOW: WALL OF TEXT AHEAD!!! Just get Serana as a follower after going into the Soul Cairne and be a Vampire Lord. Then do the Companions questline until you're called into the Underforge. Have Serana wait outside and proceed inside with the Vampire Lord transformation equipped. All you have to do now is tap the blood pond and the VL transformation at the same time. If you did it properly the screen will do the transformation blur before going dark and you'll find yourself outside as the VL bursts from the werewolf. Now you're on a timer and must revert form and quickly talk to Serana and ask her to turn you into a vampire. The screen'll go black after and you'll wake up in the wilderness with both powers in the menu. WARNING: Sometimes you get a partial wolf form glitched over your human form, so save before trying in case you need to redo it. BONUS: You'll stay at lv 1 Vampirism and have no sun debuff (feeding'll make vampire levels, powers and drawbacks progress normally). Also you count as both vampire and werewolf after turning VL and back but only as werewolf after turning beastform and back (useful to talk to Dawnguard members).
My friend said to download all DLCs at the same time, but wait to do the Dawnguard and Dragonborn until I'm a higher level. 5 minutes later I was turned into a vampire
A good strategy for new start, is to start Dawnguard early, get op early crossbow, serana and rather easily obtainable armors (Dawnguard Armors look awesome and have preety good stats for early game)
Enjoy the rest of the game with weak followers and armor then Most don't scale up with the player and are locked at your current level max is 50 so Yea think about it
Paul Martin You can go straight to Dawnguard fort as soon as you can, even before level 10. The place will be less fortified, you won't meet any "First" members, but you Isran will talk with the Vigialnte Whoever-he-was, notice you, ask you what are you doing here and offer you to go to the Vampire Crypt. 2:38 no, unarguably the coolest was the Forgotten Vale. The breathtaking environment, getting to explore the last remnants of the falmer culture, and some of the coolest boss fights.
Since this is dawn guard on this episode did you know that after rescuing Serana if you go to Fort Dawnguard first instead of taking her straight home she will say something about the place and also Isran will have some unique dialog then and after you finish taking her home if you don’t become a vampire it’s pretty cool and worth doing to see this interaction
Another fun fact with the Dawnguard Huskies: if you have adopted and have no pets you can arrive home with one and the kids will ask to keep it. You’ll then have a husky pet dog with armour, instead of the normal dogs you can Aquire.
two things you didnt mention is that if you fire normal sun arrows into the sun beams of light come down like the lightning storm shout, another thing is that the vampire's deathhounds are also named after mythological dogs.
Couple of things about the legend you mentioned The O in Fionn is not silent, it's not Finn. In Irish legend and in Celtic folklore wizards are not wizards, they were called druids
You can also go back for Serana's mother (Valerica) in the soul cairn once you defeat Harkon, I feel like this is more known but a lot of people forget about it. I think she mostly stays in the court yard and her lab room. In mods that restore the castle to it's "former glory" going back for her is a pretty cool feature.
I think one of the really cool things that almost literally nobody will have found in this game is that there is actually an option to choose to side with the Dawnguard. Crazy, I know.
4:04 it has nothing on persona's reaper 4:58 uh yeah we kinda would know this "secret" already given that we would most likely choose this route on occasion
2:10 Have you never played an enchanter before? They’re basically uniques that you can enchant yourself that aren’t the standard gold or silver amulets. Probably one of the coolest items for me personally.
Reality Rogue Agreed I have a character named Bonehawk and only wear the rings and amulet cause i glitch enchanted the rings for increased unarmed a hundred thousand fold and the amulet for nearly infinite health. Gotta love consoles. 😄
Hey Nate, I feel like you should make a video above where certain NPCs go after you complete certain quests For instance if Malborn survives the Diplomatic Immunity quest he goes to an inn in Windhelm. There are also some other characters that "dissappear" like the serving lady in the quest diplomatic immunity, Valdr, the mage in that quest where you need to find books for the college of Winterhold, Anska... (or maybe they just dissappear from the game in which case my suggestion was completely pointless
You can find Valdr later on in the game hanging out by the Dead man's drink in Falkreath. But i guess it depends on the civil war outcome. - either that or i had some overhaul installed that added him.
@Anonymous5253 same but the game doesn't let me continue the quest because only harkon recognises me as a vampire the other ones tell me to leave mortal Maybe it's because of my mods?
Starts at 1:13 . You're welcome. ... in the tunnel at the back of the Dawnguard you learn about a murderer who went about skinning khajit and selling their fur. That was an interesting find.
It may also be worth noting that even if you join the Dawnguard faction (Best option, IMO) you can still have Serana turn you into a Vampire Lord, and Isran and the crew will not be very pleased either. And a cool side note is that this is how you glitch the game into becoming both a Vampire Lord & Werewolf at the same time, and if you're lucky it can negate the negative effects of being a Vampire depending on which form you transformed into last.
If you side with the Dawnguard and become a vampire lord just to enter the Soul Carin, the tutorials won’t tell you how to revert your form. New players either have to figure it out or look it up If I side with the Dawnguard, Serana hangs out at fort Dawnguard. If she cures herself of vampirism, then she’s hanging out there has a non vampire. So with the mod Tailor’s Measures, you can change her outfit to Dawnguard armor. She looks great in it, especially if you use Seranaholic to change her look Anyone notice some of the souls in the Soul Carin are quoting Lord Vigo from Ghostbusters 2 🤣
I'm not sure if this fits in with the story but you can get Auriel's Sheild which has a built in fus ro dah mechanic after blocking a certain number of attacks. Its in the areas with the portals in the forgotten vale i believe, whichever area has the final quest of the dawnguard dlc to get the bow.

You can only do this during "destroy the dawnguard" quest.
Yea only perfectionist knw this.

+Just Another Internet Troll I would hardly call facts 'insults' wouldn't you agree?
Now I think I'm the one being trolled here
I just recently started a play through with the "change back story" mod so I skipped the helga intro and started off in front of fort dawnstar as a non-dragon born villager (no thu'um) hoping to became a vampire slayer.
Yea, there a few dialogues that are based on how far along in the main quest you are. I remember doing this and going to solsthiem (sp?) Prior to learning I'm dragonborn

Someone should make a mod for Skyrim to replace guards sweetroll quote with "Let me guess, someone was murdered to death..."

Here's an important thing you missed: There is a small side quest line in Dawnguard that ends with you deep underground looking at a magma flow under the Rift: which is already full of geysers and hot springs. Meaning that the Rift is basically a Supervolcano like Yellowstone
Which quest?
I think you are talking about Lost in the Ages

One of the female vampires at the vampire castle tells you it is dangerous and inconsiderate for a mortal to wander these halls or something like this. She seems rather considerate for a vampire.
It kind of makes up for that other vampire who boasts about the tyranny of the sun. Ain't that hypocritical? Calling the natural order of thing a tyranny, and replacing it... with another - but true - tyranny and praying on mortals on a Tamriel-wide scale.
Did you know you can freely switch between the vampire lord and werewolf if you follow/meet this certain play style
1. become leader of companions then merry aela because she gives the werewolf blood
2. Side with the dawnguard by refusing harkon's bite but before entering the soul carin get bit by serana she can turn you into vampire lord
And there you go i managed to get both transformations in one play through and i was able to freely switch between the two
I understand you dont get both in the magic menu but you can freely access and switch between the two
Nope!
@@paddyblah887
He didn't mean at the same time. He meant you can choose to change to either at any given time, which is only partially true since Aela only re-transforms you once after the 1st time in the underforge (unless marrying her changes that...never done it as Lydia is too cute)
@1Fastpaced
Console peasants can always use an exploit to keep both transformations.
HOW:
WALL OF TEXT AHEAD!!!

Couple of things about the legend you mentioned
The O in Fionn is not silent, it's not Finn.
"Go to lord Harkon at once, beg him to turn you back, you're dead if you don't", well.. in a certain perspective, I'm also dead if I do lmao.
Sometimes I think Nate intentionally mispronounces character names, weapon names and location names on purpose...

Hey Nate, I feel like you should make a video above where certain NPCs go after you complete certain quests
For instance if Malborn survives the Diplomatic Immunity quest he goes to an inn in Windhelm.
- either that or i had some overhaul installed that added him.

same my bloodhound died in battle with the "Dawnguards". whole solitude was killed in his remembrance
It doesn’t even look like you put on better graphics mods, you just got better lighting. I like that.
It's "Fien-Ma-Kewl" Nate.....
If you side with the Dawnguard and become a vampire lord just to enter the Soul Carin, the tutorials won’t tell you how to revert your form. New players either have to figure it out or look it up
If I side with the Dawnguard, Serana hangs out at fort Dawnguard. If she cures herself of vampirism, then she’s hanging out there has a non vampire. So with the mod Tailor’s Measures, you can change her outfit to Dawnguard armor. She looks great in it, especially if you use Seranaholic to change her look
Anyone notice some of the souls in the Soul Carin are quoting Lord Vigo from Ghostbusters 2 🤣
Or you could just use amazing follower tweaks to dress anyone with any clothing/armor you want them to wear.
