Agreed! Also I love the healthy moments of disagreeing. Hopefully that doesn't make me sound weird. It can be difficult to have "fair fights/disagreements" but it's such a key component of successful relationships. I know their disagreements are sometimes minor things but it's refreshing to see nonetheless.

i agree with Cristine on the death one. If we know how we will try to avoid that thing the most (even if we knew it can't change the outcome) and live in constant fear. this won't help in anyway. but with knowing the time we can plan ahead also live freely until then at least.

I’d rather know how just because in a twisted way I want to confirm if I was right. As a kid I always had dreams where I either drowned in dreams or died in a plane crash. If I die of either of those I’ll be content knowing my child self could predict the future. ☺️

I'd rather not know either one but if I had to choose I'd pick when. Imagine your How is "dies of a heart defect in their sleep". You'd never rest easy again always wondering if you'll wake up in the morning 😱 Having said that, counting down the days seems almost as terrifying but at least you can plan your life around it.

I don't see death as a terrible thing (not that I see it as a good thing, either), and I would love to know when I would die so I could plan out my life until then. Like imagine knowing you would die at 18; you'd probably not put the same amount of effort into school/work than if you knew you would die at 80.

@@ava_lavender your comment reminded me of a girl who was born with a terminal disease (cystic fibrosis) and a life expectancy of 10 years. She grew up knowing she could die at any time and that it was certain she wouldn’t live to adulthood. She talked openly about death and what it was like for her and her family, to prepare and expect her own death. Through it all she retained her vibrant, positive personality and was incredibly insightful, introspective, funny and brave.
Claire Wineland died aged 21, in 2018. She has a UA-cam channel (Claire Wineland) that’s still up, I highly recommend it! She also did at least one Ted talk that I know of.
This question about which would you rather know got me thinking about her, her thoughts on this matter are so illuminating, please check her out! She has a beautiful message and you won’t regret it

Hi! I work in a vet clinic in BC, and there’s a diet available to feed to your cats that reduces the allergens they produce so that humans with allergies react less (unless your allergies are asthma based, I believe). It’s called Live Clear, it’s whitefish based, and available through most local clinics! It might be worth looking into for Ben if you haven’t seen it/tried it before. If you have, sorry for the unsolicited advice!

About Ben's allergies, there is cat food available by the brand purina pro plan that is supposed to lower the amount of allergens that your cats produce, resulting in less symptoms. It's called Liveclear. I haven't tried it myself, because I'm not allergic to cats (luckily), but maybe it's worth a shot to see if it helps for Ben.

I would ABSOLUTELY want to know when I'll die! Because obviously I'm operating under the assumption that I'll live a full life and die of old age at like 85, but what if I'll actually die at 43? If I knew I'd die at 43 I would live my life MUCH differently! I'd make sure to get to have the experiences I want before my time runs out, I wouldn't have to plan for retirement so I'd be able to spend money more frivolously, etc. I want to know how much time I have so I can make the most of it.

They still take a while, but its hands off (bonus: if you get an expensive rice cooker, you can load it up before bed and program it to start automatically in the morning). Also, the things I’m allergic too are in EVERYTHING. Luckily, my reactions aren’t too extreme (bad hand eczema usually) but goddamn it’s annoying as hell. The products that are “safe” for my skin are 1. Hard to find 2. Very expensive and 3. I don’t feel like they do the job well!! - the two would be nice but I would prefer playing my partner's favorite games!
    - We have two cats, I would love another cat but my partner would love a dog 😂
    - Short nails with holo. Holo is love. Holo is life.
    - I would prefer keeping my memories and keeping notes to myself and always taking videos and photos in the future I think.
    - Staying in Canada.
    - I'm sure my cats would like us to be smaller?? 😂
    - I'm the youngest, I'm good with that
    - I already go to sleep around 1 anyway
    - I would prefer go without a base coat
    - I would never eat hummus again, I love hummus but not that much hahaha!
    - 🤔 Last episode for the same reasons as them.
    - never drink tea again. I love tea tho ;^; but I can live without it.
    - Pause button!
    - All the teas.
    - Married...? 😂 I don't mind either but I want to wait to have kids.
    - I love short haircut 🤷🏼‍♀️
    - 😰😰 I scared of both!! I'll say space?
    - Bad news first!

Okay, I've been thinking about this for too long. This is about the cat being human sized. Wouldn't the cat technically be "human" sized either way? Or in other words the same size as a human. So you'd still be screwed as a human either way. Am I just sleep deprived?

When they spoke about shrinking to cat size or cats growing their size, Ben mentioned how it would be easier for the cats to kill them if they were human size. I don’t think he realizes that both way are equally dangerous since both opinions make them the same size anyway. If the cats grow they will be human size but if the human shrink they will also be the same size so at the end of the day it’s equally dangerous 😂

I think the cats would rather be human sized, simply because humans can’t do anything to serve the kitty overlords if they are small. Humans need to be big to get water and feed and pet and change poop boxes 🤷🏻‍♀️Imagine being cat sized having to change a cat box 🤢

I would only watch the first episode. I thought back to shows I liked that ended abruptly or I quit watching and my favorite shows that have ended pretty much as intended. A lot of the endings were good. Some were frustrating. I'm looking at you Lost and Game of Thrones. I think the end alone would feel unfulfilling without any context or connection to characters.

The pressure of the ocean is why it's so unexplored. We haven't invented the tech to have a human in a machine and go all the way down. Ocean to me is much more interesting than space because the ocean does have a limit of exploration, given the ability to properly traverse it all. Where space for all we know could be limitless which would be a whole lot of boring until you find something interesting.

I had, over lunch, a very interesting conversation with my friend about the how-or-when death question. My mom and stepdad were together for way longer than most married people in my family, almost 19 years, without being married. The only reason the relationship ended was because my mom passed away… but marriage doesn’t make a relationship ‘real’ and I appreciate your take on it…

I am the youngest sibling 😂 unfortunately, I was treated like the oldest sibling. I was saddled with all of the responsibility (probably because I’m a woman), my parents were harder on me, I was kind of responsible for my big brother- like taking care of him and watching him and whatnot, and my parents routinely chastised me if I wasn’t 100% perfect 😂 so I definitely feel like it wouldn’t have mattered if I had been born the eldest sibling lol. Then again, all of these things are probably routed in misogyny, so it may not even be a sibling thing that explains why I was raised the way I was 😂 who knows?

I went through allergy patch testing too and found out I was highly allergic to a preservative called methylisothiazolinone. We had to switch from a lot of household products that contained it and I’m talking soap, hair care, detergent, cleaning products, makeup, perfumes, candles. I had to quit playing volleyball because the wax on the floors would make my throat close up half way through practice. Thankfully I’m in good health now but boy was that a set back.

Oh goodness. I didn’t plan on piping in but here we go I’m on the “Work a difficult but rewarding job VS. low effort low stress job with no enrichment.”
All of the jobs I’ve had that are physically demanding, upbeat, busy, and stressful, have all been jobs that paid me a very low to medium hourly wage. I was codependent at the time so I didn’t need to make enough money to be dependent.
I LOVED working in those jobs where I was challenged, constantly on my feet, always giving customer service and being an asset to an entire establishment made me feel damn important. Fast forward to growing out of the pay rate and wanting to find a better job. I spent 6 months in a high stress but work from home AP position. I quit. I found a job as an administrative assistant - for $4/hr more than any hourly rate I’ve ever made in my life. I thought I’d be pushed and mentally stimulated but instead I’m just someone to delegate tasks to and when there’s nothing to do, I spend 9 hours at my desk doing JACK SHIT. And it’s DRAINING. And I loathe the fact that I must stay in this boring fucking job just because it pays really well and offers good work/life balance.
I miss my customer service jobs so much. I miss being busy. I miss being demanded from. I miss it so much. But I can’t go back because it’s not financially sustainable for me right now. If I could, I would.

this episode was super interesting and fun to watch.
I would definitely explore the ocean by the way. I love the sea and the ocean... as haunting as it may seem to get to the very depth of it... That'd be fun... and who knows, there could be traces of ancient civilizations, prehistoric relics, forgotten treasures, or scary creatures that nobody has ever seen. I read somewhere that humans know more about space than the ocean a long time ago, so acquiring that knowledge through experience seems amazing to me.
This is a choice I'd make if it was totally safe to do it, but not really since my claustrophobia could get the best of me... lol

Exactly I never understand people who wouldn't want to know when they would die! You always hear stories of people who don't get a chance to say goodbye to loved ones or do the things they've always wanted. Or they die with unresolved anger or stress, or leave their family unprepared for the future. If you know when you're going to die you could spend your last days doing only what brings you joy, you could tell loved ones and make sure they all visit to say goodbye and get closure, you could spend your younger years doing risky stuff because you know you're safe! And you'd know exactly how much to save for retirement and when you need all your paperwork settled. It would be so freeing
