Congratulations, you are a lover of good music that brings out your feelings. I am 62 and I am happy to see how people as young as you learn and appreciate the music made by all the great bands that wrote the book of modern music. Pink Floyd, progressive, symphonic and psychedelic rock, a demonstration of freshness, creativity and genius. You have reacted to the first song of, for me, along with The dark side of the Moon, the two best albums of the band.
I suggest you listen to them as P.F. deserves, a darkness and chill place, light some candles and some sticks of sandalwood, pachouli or whatever you like and above all, close your eyes and let your mind fly to other dimensions and dreams.
Thanks for your emotive and honest reaction.
    Keep on rocking beautiful ❤

Both the guitarist, David Gilmour, and the keyboardist, Richard Wright, while not the most technical players, were both extremely emotive musicians, creating a distinct "atmosphere" and drawing out deep emotions from their listeners. What you felt is very real and happens to many who hear this song.

    • @Rassskle
      @Rassskle 3 місяці тому +4

I have heard both David and Richard play very technical music.. .....but that is not Pink Floyd.
If you want to hear David at his best, then search U Tube for his performance at a Les Paul benefit concert.
David played the best Chicago blues I have ever heard, and on a black Les Paul with gold trim and pin striping .
What he plays is often so technical that technical players simply CAN'T play it .
If you like technical music, then you can listen to computer noises or guitarists like John Williams and Tommy Emmanuel .
Recommend Tommy's Classical Gas live in a private room ( maybe his house ) or a live Initiation......a very different " technical ".
Or John Williams doing the Concertino de Aranjuez or Asturias ( by Isaac Albeniz ) , which I am listening to right now......as technical as it can get .
Oh......and when John plays Asturias he is by himself with only ONE Australian made guitar.

Which artist or music do you want a link to ?
For Tommy Emmanuel, just type his name into Google Search..... you can access his videos from his Wikipedia Page and other sites.
Should be the same for John Williams......but there are many profiles listed as John Williams , including the famous American movie score composer.
The classical guitarist is an Australian born Englishman ( English father ) often regarded as the world's No1 classical guitarist, but not by everyone. lol
Most music can be found on Google search just by the artists name or the music's name and if you type U Tube first , then Google will take you to a list of their videos.

Define “technical “. In my humble opinion their technique is unmatched.
Dave Mustaine once said David Gilmour could do more with one note than most can accomplish with the entire fretboard.

An emotional song only intensified when you realize it was dedicated as a tribute to their long-lost leader, Syd Barrett, who suffered from an irreversible mental condition that left him in total isolation for most of his life. The band had not seen or heard from Syd for 5 years, when he showed up unannounced during this recording session. Nobody recognized him. He looked old with a shaven head. Finally, bassist Roger Waters figured it out and broke down uncontrollably. He would disappear and rarely be heard of again until his death some 30 years later.

You understand music not by the song (the words), not by the dance (the rhythm), not by the show (if you were seeing a performance or a video) but by the sounds going through time (the music) and how that makes you feel. You don't need any "ambiance" around you to enjoy this to its full extent, I can see you got completely immersed in the music and the rest of the world just vanished. And that's such a great gift to have. Thank you for letting us witness and share your experience.

    What an absolutely beautiful reaction.
I like Pink Floyd a lot, and I've watched a lot of reactions. I love watching people get exposed to PF for the first time.
Yours is the most beautiful reaction I've seen. Pink Floyd usually takes several listenings before someone finally starts to hear it.
But you heard it clearly in this first hearing; I could literally see the music flowing through (into and out of) your very soul.
Your head movements, your eyes and your mouth, even the way you were breathing, all showed that you were hearing this music in a full and correct way.
The way you teared up during a non-vocal part of the music, and the way your eyes looked upward many times as if you were experiencing the ecstasy of this music.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond is a long, very slow blues, and many people don't hear it well on their first hearing, but you clearly did.
And I loved every minute of you hearing this amazing music so fully.

They create unique soundscapes that pull you in and you can focus on nothing else, the music is that compelling. They have a bunch of classic albums in the 70s that are as good a run as anyone else produced. Best reaction from this song that I have ever seen. You did so well and you didn't break in every 2 seconds because you like hear yourself, talk and ruin the song. You just got into a beautiful job like the one. Fella said you don't listen to pink foliage you experience

I HAD to subscribe, you GOT the song before the vocals even started. This whole "album" was about emotion. You dont have to do a reaction video, but look at the story behind it and listen to the entire CD from start to finish. MANY will disagree, but WYWH was the BEST thing Floyd ever put out

I will add to the encouragement to move on to the second half (Parts 6-9). As beautifully human as your reaction was to the first half, many (myself included) say the second half is even more emotionally raw and ties the whole suite (and album) together as brilliantly as any old world classical composition. Teared up along with you because I needed to today, and subbed for your sincerity.

@@Summon256 that's the power of Floyd's music and why they're my #1 fav band; the emotions are real and wide-ranging, so that people from almost every walk of life, who have experienced different amounts of joy and sorrow along their paths, can take something different from it. I can only speak for myself and those in my circle of friends who agree, to say the feelings expressed in the 2nd half of Shine On hit closer to home. Your life experience makes you respond to the 1st half more, and that's great! Notice that I didn't say "...is better", I said "...is more emotionally raw for me and many others". Very different meanings. No one's reaction to a song can be wrong, ever...even stuff that I hear and think "ugh!"...the only correct thing I can say is "it doesn't work for me". BUT, different moods land on different days...there are times when I enjoy the serenity I get from Pts. 1-5 more than the anguish of Pt. 6-9, but like I said, all 25 min is a masterpiece taken as a complete work of art.
