    Marie-Ann, I just came back from a shopping trip and got two fabulous pieces I love and will wear for sure. I resisted the temptation of getting more items, as I remembered "If it is not a Wow, then it is a No". Thank you so much!

    At 61 I’m having more fun dressing than at any other time in my life.(Except London in the 80s). I was definitely punk rocking. 😂 I weigh same as I did at 19. I had 5 children and it didn’t really change my shape. Still working out daily, helps. So why not have fun wearing whatever makes me happy!

    I just bought a dress that is empire waist (which minimizes my waist), a ruched sleeve to above the elbow (to hide my upper arms), and a longer length. It is dark navy with a cream print. I am 71 and wonder if it’s too young for me, but I feel so gorgeous wearing it I’m not giving it up (at least for now!)

      I would say a lot depends on your spirit, your attitude. If it's you wearing the dress and not the dress wearing you, then your age isn't of essence. If you feel the outfit enhances what you like about yourself, then I'm pretty sure you look great in it

    I have embraced what I call boho tribal eclectic chic for years, and I'm 71- I am constantly mistaken for someone 15 years younger. I've made style adjustments as I age. I've been lucky enough to have lived in Africa and India and have collected amazing pieces like salwar kameez. Classic French style is not for me although I enjoy your videos and pick up tips. I encourage everyone to try a salwar kameez!

      I don't have a kameez, but a couple of years ago I purchased a Western-style dress in a bold African batik print from Zuri. I really look best in the kinds of styles recommended on Marie-Anne's channel, but I look great in that batik print. I have decided to keep it as part of my wardrobe. The dominant color is a cobalt blue, a perfect color for me, and I wear it with a very bold strand of round Ghana glass beads. I feel as though that outfit gives me a great deal of presence.

      Fitting shirt and jacked with jeans and shoes works.
      The color scheme or texture are the same as for women.
      What is frumpy? Mostly not fitting to body size , not fitting colours and textures or worn out stuff.

  • @Patriot1789
    @Patriot1789 11 днів тому +2

    I know my body shape and I know that only one company in the US produces a size that actually fits me. Why? Because a woman over fifty who is shorter than 5’3” or 4” is not as narrow as a normal Petite. Our shoulders and hips are usually wider, our arms and breasts often heavier. Even an XL Petite may not fit appropriately, for example around the upper arm. A Plus size, even the smallest, will be way too long.
    I find these UA-cam’s interesting but most of the advice is not applicable to those of us who are shorter, not to mention heavier or much taller than average. Clothing is made primarily for the average person and some of the styling ideas simply aren’t available for those who are not average. That also goes for men, BTW, but luckily for them we don’t hold them to a higher standard in chic. ;))

    • @deborahriddle7763

    • @MarieAnneLecoeur
      @MarieAnneLecoeur  11 днів тому

      Bonjour Patriot - I can understand your frustration. We are all of us unique and in making videos aimed at a wide public all UA-camrs have to make generalisations to some extent and I am no different. To get specific advice for your height, shape and size you would need to have individual help and I accept that may not be possible 😘

    Supportive underwear is great, not washed out cotton from 5 years ago... but please don't advocate that we have to wear shape-wear on a daily basis, we dont need to be rolled sausages in an elastic casing each day... that is not comfortable and not good for circulation.. if all bodies are beautiful, dont say that we need to be "elasticated" to dress well... then embrace your body and use style and cut to highlight the things you love... 😊

The advertiser said just put the words 'rinse and repeat' on the bottle. Boom. Instant doubling in sales. Likwise, to sell more jewellery just get influencers to start a stacking and layering trend 👍

    Thank you for those great tips Marie-Anne, it's always good to be reminded, as one can slip up.... But I'm afraid I can't identify with ANY of the women in your video visuals. They don't look like me, or like you, or like anyone I know. Their looks and behaviour seem very artificial to me and not like normal everyday people! I would rather just listen to you without those visuals.

      On the other hand, I do appreciate the ‘illustrations’ (including seeing Marie Anne).
