I want to say that this is one of the most unappreciated songs ever made, but I can see from the comments that the right people can show this song the right appreciation it deserves. One of the best singing perfomances in pop music history. Fluent and natural are the best adjectives to describe what this stirs up in me. It's like a gentle periodically popping up push on my back giving me momentum when I feel it's getting harder to go forward and I'm going against myself. The accuracy of the lyrics is painful but beautiful. 🖤

can't get enough of that harmony at 1:29. perfect songwriting. According to an interview with the drummer he improvised it on the first band practice he ever had with Courtney in '98! Also, Anton from the Brian Jonestown Massacre did the string and tremelo guitar parts for this tune.
When I first bought this album I listened to it for three months straight...never took it out of my cd player in the truck. Ive been addicted ever since...
so much love this band, and bonus never heard of them since this spring, it's like going back to 97 and watching star wars for the first time, love it.
You could not put four better looking individuals in a band together. There's no point even trying. The DWs have achieved perfection. Oh yeah, also, they sound freaking amazing

This is an absolutely crucial slice of Americana, still sounds beasting. Very glad I remembered to return to this song, and off I go checking out all the rest of their stuff.
Such an under rated song. But when you know, you know 😉 See you guys LIVE in New York a few years back. After travelling the world for 5 years, visiting all 50 states, all over Europe and Central and South America. See you guys preform Mohammad Live in person is the one thing my husband and I often reflect back on and talk about. Love putting memories in the bank, and they come flooding back every time I hear this album 😊 Sending you all mad love from Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺 Ps hope the stars align, and you can visit here one day 🤞
Joe Bass (RIP) I know you thought the singer is an arrogant piece of.. but I do have this song as my ringtone.. cause it starts with a howling wolf . Love you forever Joey
I got remarried in my 50s and my wife and I danced to it at our wedding. Our kids (then in their early 20s) might have blushed. It's still our theme song.
Wonderful to see you guys In Oz a few weeks ago.Only can listen to a full album.Like reading a book.13 tales hard to beat.Thankyou for your music again!!
I remember an impromptu gig that they did at The Queen Victoria Market , Melbourne, Victoria (2010?), and although I was familiar with, and liked most of the tracks from 13 tales, I was only there to drop my kids off to the show straight after school. The thing that I remembered most clearly was the mind-boggling level of BASS - AWESOME! :-)
Love this song, in my top 4 of DW songs. Love their videos, always so interesting, weird & different- And tbh I still have a crush on Zia, so many years now 😂
I've been searching for this song for almost 10 years... I searched the lyrics where he sings hot diggity dog trying to find it and it never came up. Finally figured it out all this time later and wow what a gem this is. What an absolutely amazing song
One of the best pop songs ever written; period. Nothing else like it. So amazing. Such a powerful force of a band!
Agree🤪
Solid song, but let's not go crazy here.
Best things about the Dandys is... being an Aussie, one of their guys lives in Melbourne so they frequently do Aussie shows.

He has a great voice… and he’s a bit cute, so unfortunately from your comment , I only read. Momentum, Push harder…😂 must be a tomboy thing…

Could you tell me please, that what means “hot diggity dog” thanks

Okay I'm officially on a Dandy Warhols kick again... It's been a while! :-)
Dandy Warhols so underated.
Michael Haring I’m on one now lol it’s been even longer love the Dandys
Guess what, Michael? You're about to be on one again! ;)
One of the BEST bands that still not many even know.
Wtf.
They’re ok.
One of the most distinctive songs ever written. Just occupies a space all of its own.
💯
Music career here & I still haven't found another vibe like it, truly distinctive
it kind of reminds me of the kinks mixed with ennio morricone
It's straight up no frills rock. But with some punk badassery.
One of the most distinctive songs ever written? What bullshit, it's a good song amongst many others.
More songs should include a 'hot diggity dog'.
Funny!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
@@joejordan1008 hot f#&kin diggety yeeah dawg! should b part of all vernacular
Mickey Mouse would agree with you!
A classic phrase 👌
This song was different even for the Dandys, catchy as hell and some very good harmony parts, plus how freakin’ hot is Zia? Brilliant production too.
Who's here in 2022? I remember coming on here 8yrs ago and this had under 100k views. Now nearly 2million(1.9). Well deserved.
I had forgotten how fantastic this album from year 2000 was. the dandys werwe outstanding. brilliant album from start to finish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best albums of the decade. It's 2020, and far superior to the dross out there.

I completely agree dude
This is one of the greatest tracks I've heard.

Watching teachers for the first time in decades and remembered how great this song was!

@@weirdshibainu You said it, not me. 🥴
My mum totally stole one of my rings and gave it to her on their last Australian tour. But that's totally fine by me in fact I am honoured! 🙏
Really miss the early 2000’s. Good times.
Indie/Alternative rock's golden age perhaps?
this is the song that makes me more cheerful than any other. Not my favorite one, but definitely a mood-changed. So underrated in views...
they're seriously just so good
it's a shame they are so disappointing live
+Brick Tamland really?
yeah, it just seemed like they were going through the motions rather than actually enjoying performing. proper let down
The singer lost his voice and they are not very involved while performing (saw them 6 months ago).
They were average at best..
tuneage! i listen to absolute radio and all they ever play is that bohemian like you ,this is so much better ,wicked tune ...
so much love this band, and bonus never heard of them since this spring, it's like going back to 97 and watching star wars for the first time, love it.
incredibly amazing. this band is so under rated.
Thanks Veronica. Never would have found The Dandys music without you.

Oh yeah, also, they sound freaking amazing
Hmmm the jury's out 😉 kings of Leon = 1st place also 😍🇦🇺
Just saw them at The Corner in Melbourne last night. They still got it!
That guy is always behind the bar!
That's Zia's husband.

Yeah, like it or not

And feel it for a minute, babe
Hot diggity dog

Baby, come on, yeah
If you have a hard time getting there
Maybe, you're gone
If you find, find yourself against yourself
Yeah maybe I thought
What I thought I would say
That all I wanna do is get off
And feel it for a minute
Like a real thing, baby, again
I already forgot
Why I thought I was sane
When all I wanna do is get off
And feel it, feel it, feel it babe
Baby, come on, yeah
If you have a hard time getting there
Maybe you're gone
If you find, find yourself against yourself
Hey, come on, yeah
If you have a hard time getting there
Maybe you're gone
If you find, find yourself against yourself
And like it or not
Like a ball and a chain
All I wanna do is get off
And feel for a minute
Like a real thing, baby, oh yeah

Didn't expect to see Joe Bass mentioned in the comments here. Unexpected emotion 😢
I simply love this song...
Brent nails it every song. One of the best drummers of a generation. Respect.
Tough sell for a guy who exists in the same drumming generation as Tony Royster Jr.
Really underrated.
Baby come ooooooooooooon yeah
Many years ago, this was the first song i heard of theirs. Bought the album and wasn't disappointed
What a song!
Bought this on single when it came out and played the hell out of it. Still sounds great today.

Haven't heard this in forever, reminds of summer of my freshmen year.
So many wonderful memories...
This song's so catchy it got my dad into the DW.
He's a bit deaf though & strugles with the lyrics ... so he's still got no idea what it's about 😂
