ASHES TO ASHES...FUNK TO FUNKY... AWESOME TRIBUTE TO BOWIE!!! YOUS ROCK, STILL LOVE THIS MASTERPIECE AS MUCH AS WHEN IT FIRST WAS RELEASED, THANKS DANDYS'.
That's a great comment. And in perfect agreement. I guess one of the band members from Duran Duran produce this album from what I hear. And Duran Duran was a great 80s band.
You guys were WAY ahead of your time !! This song stirs up so many emotions! It's a true CLASSIC!!! AND it remains TIMELESS!! Love you, Guys !! Cheers, from DOWNUNDER!!!
This song has a very Indy eighties feel and is typical of what we grew up with. Their sound producer worked with many eighties bands including Duran Duran.
They weren’t ahead of their time, their sound perfectly encapsulates the early-mid 2000’s sound/vibe. They would’ve sounded out of place decades earlier or later. Their time was perfectly on point.
I will never forget listening to this song on repeat riding my bike home late at night in the late spring of 2006 from my girlfriends place, knowing we had drifted & that it wasn't going to last much longer, but the power of this song made it easier to acvept under that full moon lit sky.
This song is written from the point of view of a person who had this girl, who was the ultimate thing in his life, his ultimate happiness, he has had to move on, and every time he finds love, he has, but he'll never truly get over this girl he once had, she was the peak, i know this because i might as well be that person
I am happy for everyone who can associate themselves with this music. For everyone who was in love at that time. It was the best time to love and enjoy the best music ever written. It was a time of love and breakups. It was the time when we got to know the world. We were lucky to be when the best music was born. We are now in our 40s, but we have memories of better times. Let's celebrate it!
watched 'Lara Croft Cradle of Life' last night and this is playing in the back ground of one of the scenes - had to come here for a listen, GREAT tune!!
Can't believe this is from almost 20 years ago. I remember when it was new. Must have played it a thousand times in a matter of weeks. Has a very strong association with a time, a place, and a woman. Can't hear it without returning to 2003, there, and her. Great song.
It's 2019 - still loving this tune 💖 Actually, I love everything that you guys did. One of The best bands to my musical time capsule for this here dandelion seed (still drifting, still dreaming) ☯ Thank you Dandy Warhols xx
I think a lot of people who are NOT aware of Duran Duran's music and video are not aware that this is a very clever and faithful homage/recreation of their video 'Planet Earth'
Yes, Duran Duran. Nick from that group helped produce the album this came from and I believe played on some of it. Pure Genius. Love this track. These guys are the bomb! I have become addicted to this tune and the lyrics are too true to my own life. Dandys are sublime here.
I was scrolling through the comments just for this! What about Jake Duncombes part? His part featured Dandy Warhols "Get off" and the most magnificent mullet ever seen in a skatevideo til this day
I'll never forget this tune. Doing nights when working in the prison service I had the late night news on the radio. The two convicts (armed robbers) who made the headline news were behind a cell door less than a foot away from my office!!!! Happy days........
Easily one of the best tracks I've herd in a film.

This song is about a wanted euphoria and a rhetoric situation, I strongly admire this song and the rhythmic songs, and this made me consider these utopic situation and this magnificent rhythms. :)
Good, Im only 7 years late. check out Brian Jonestown Massacre, its the band that directly inspired the founding of this band, they made a documentary about it and everything. BJM's music goes back to the wee dark hours of the late 90's but it's worth getting over the production quality to enjoy the shit out of.
sempre amarei essa música. Escuto todos os dias desde quando a vi na MTV a mais de 10 anos - always I love this song . I hear every day from when I saw on MTV for over 10 years
Mano do céu!!! Eu via na MTV, mas não sabia o nome da banda e nem da música, sempre procurei no UA-cam pelas foto tela dos vídeos e hj na madrugada achei!!! Que sensação boa da porra.
It's interesting, not only is it a homage to "Planet Earth" by Duran Duran (self-evidently, especially as Nick Rhodes produced this album), but the synth break at 2:24 very much sounds like it's tipping its hat to that memorable futuristic synth line in "Ashes to Ashes" by David Bowie.
I've seen comments ranging from they are sell outs to this guy's too cocky. The guy CTT is not too cocky. It's a damn video. I have met each one of these people. They are all real people and kind. I hate when people judge with no knowledge or direct experience. One of my closest friends works with them on stage and lighting and doing their videos. Even while on stage CTT is devoted to what he's doing a day shows he cares for the fans. They are kind and caring people and devote much of there time when not touring to helping their community and working for causes concerning the environment. Most of You people who comment are just plain ignorant trolls who know nothing about the real people you are judging.
I agree that CTT is a genuinely humble, regular guy. He's pushing 50, but is still young at heart. Don't really 'know' him, but our brief conversations have me convinced he's one of the good ones.
This is one of the best songs I heard all year. I found it of the UK called "9 songs". Their live concert version has a much more raw and uncut sound to it. Worth checking out the movie to see it. synthpro
Acabo de escuchar este tema en una lista de Spotify...y me he quedado pegado y debo haberla reproducido unas 15 veces ya. Me encantó y no sé cómo no la escuché antes...Saludos desde Conce Chile
Wow i was just searching for this song for almost fifteen year, and finally here we are! The chorus melody was all i recorded and used to hum this song. It's a great feeling.
Love the song. Love the video. Imagine that. These guys were always underrated in the US, but I hear they were much better received in Europe. Not surprising.
This video is AWESOME!!! A stunning work of art. Courtney, you are a genius and you can and should be the next David Bowie. Please consider putting all of your superb music videos on DVD and please come to Columbus, Ohio soon. I love you, man. Best Wishes Always, Craig Campbell
Is that a Nick Rhodes cameo? So cool. 2 amazing bands - this clip does seem a little different for the Dandy Warhols. Courtney's trousers scream Duran Duran. Love it.
One of the best songs ever written. Sometimes I put it on repeat and listen to it 30 times in a row. Music doesn't get any better than this.
Currently doing so...

Have you heard "Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth" by The Dandy Warhols?
Who's still listening in 2024?
Right here.

Yep still one of this best, this album got me through year 10 and 11 of high school alive and not in prison.
Me, too. Song puts me in mind of someone I really...hoped that....

Dude! I love this comment
Bruv, I feel you. I remember something similar in early 2007…
it's beautiful
The Dandys played in my city last weekend. I've been begging the booker of this festival for years to book them and they were AMAZING
:')
One of those songs that sticks in your head and gets better over the years, one of my fave DW songs now.

I always thought it was about drugs
Tinu I saw him kill a frog with a shovel..
I’m that person too. His last name is High so every time I listen to this song I think of him 💔
What sucks for all of you guys is that _I_ am actually that person...ME. Not you. _Ya hear me!?_
I resemble that remark.

My favourite band of the 00's. The lead singer had a Morrissey-esq quality to him.
such a fantastic song.
