FYI, the first wrestler used that made up story in order to obtain refugee status. All Iranian refugees, almost entirely have gained their refugee status on made up stories in which the Iranian government is vilified. And the reason it works is because those countries to which are attempting to seek asylum, consider Iran as an unfriendly nation due political reasons, and therefore these individuals know that on those basis, they would have a great chance for their asylum case to be approved. In short, they'll come up with whatever story that helps their case. And the biggest evidence of this, is the fact that after obtaining their new citizenship and passport, their first travel destination is Iran. This is the case for 99% of these individuals across the globe. In reality, they are entirely bad economy refugees. Mostly due to the economic sanctions put on Iran for the past 4 decades by various governments of the US and their illegal enforcement globally, through various political coercion methods. As for the second wrestler you mentioned, he was not part of a peaceful protest, rather, he had committed murder in cold blood using a knife. The CC TV footage of his crime is also available. Basically, these cases are untruthfuly presented, in order for the those governments or political movements in opposition to the Iranian government to gain leverage against the Iranian political establishment, to be further exploited through other political or legal channels such as the UN for example, to exert different types of pressure on the country and it's people, such as economic, financial, education, health, information, trade, cultural and travel sanctions. I am an Iranian and the above statement, regarding the asylum seekers is entirely based on firsthand experience through my interactions with many such individuals in the past 28 years, in Australia, Canada and the US. However, much less overall in the US as I haven't spent that long in the States. Thanks
Who is that person in glass? Why is he being dishonest 🤥? @Shilan Farnia frankly you’re spreading shit and propaganda. Why would the regime do something that would bring international condemnation at this sensitive time and also stir up trouble within Iran? How does that benefit them??? R.i.p mr.Takhti
Yes! Love reading his history
American wrestler here, I'm learning Farsi and I would love to come to Iran one day and wrestle some locals!
I think Gable doesn't have correct information about Iranian wrestler in 1972 (Movahed). He was not and to date is not so popular figure in Iran and government was not so concerned with his popularity either. I think he refused to continue after shoulder injury in Munich and wrestling federation at the time banned him from wrestling. The point is Wrestling in Iran is a whole different ball game. Popularity is measured more so by the humane character of the athlete and not his medal collection.
any evidence? i agree with that
@@strengthandlove_no evidences I am afraid. You just have to speak with his generation to know it all.
Please also add this to your comment🙏
Joe also was misinformed about Navid Afkari the wrestler who was executed by the law (and not the government)
that he was a thug and a disgrace to Iranian wrestling community... In a community honoring sportsmanship and humane and humility, cutting some dudes throat and being promoted as someone standing against regime is a joke made up by the opposition
I saw a old video of DC ( Daniel Cormier ) in Iran. I love DC, but he got his butt handed to him, over there.
whats the video called?
DC has been beaten only 5 times at international level. 4 of them have been to Iranian wrestlers.
No way! wow, now thats saying something.@@kallepikku4991
We love wrestlers and admire you if you are a champion, no matter who you are and where you're from.
I don't wanna talk about politics here but we don't hate any nation. This is caused by media to make you believe that iranians are like walkers or zombies who want to eat you. You are all welcome
Is he talking about the iron sheik?Sheik said the same thing about his self in an interview years ago.
IRAN , USA , RUSSIA… Wrestling bosses
Let's be honest, all the best Russian wrestlers are Iranian people from Caucasus region (Ossetians, Dagestanis, Chechens, etc.) just across the northern borders of current state of Iran. Rarely do you see anyone from St.Petersburg or Vladivostok doing well at highest level of wrestling.
@@kallepikku4991 you ain't lying
No iron sheik reference
Is the wrestler Dan was talking about Iron Shiek?
TAKHTI GREAT HERE R.I.P
The guy who Dan is speaking about was mentioned by the Iron Sheikh in his documentary. He said that that man was his hero but when the government took him down, it inspired him to leave for America
Iran is land of real strength. Olympic wrestling is real game.
People says Dagestan have best wrestlers but it's not true. Dagestani wrestlers cant beat Olympic wrestlers of Iran.
no i think dagestanis are more technical and dominant considering the population and area

The attention for Wrestling in the US went to WWE simply because its too dangerous, can you imagine a real wrestling fight? So many Brocken bones, Brocken backs and necks and dismembered shoulders and ankles turned the wrong way...

Weight Lifting and Wrestling Iran is top
Traditional wrestling matches used to be done in the zoorxane, where the pahlavani sports are exercised, but it is more of an ancient version of military training of persia, the days that guns were not invented yet, times have changed and this tradition has became part of the culture, but wrestling is the sport of the Iranian people.
Iran👌❤😎
I met gable I’m 2004
The training a amateur wrestler goes through is unbelievable. Know this first hand it was hell, I saw someone puke at least once a week.
in 1972 that was the shah regime that did that
Mr Dan Gable is getting mixed up between Abdollah Movahed and Gholam Reza Takhti.
Movahed was the great wrestler he’s referring to however he’s getting mixed up with Takhti and his popularity as Movahed wasn’t popular like Takhti at all
Older American and European generations are more educated when it comes to these topics and knowing other cultures and respecting other countries..
Is he talking about the iron sheikh??
Anyone know the name of the Iranian wrestler Dan was talking about?
Navid Afkari
The one he beat in 1972 was Abdullah Movahed. Afkari was murdered by the Islamic criminal regime last year. He was a blooming wrestler, once invited to National camp.
Afkari was a thug and a disgrace to wrestling community... The community who didn't even who tf he was until the Saudi backed Media made up stories about... Iran has "eye for and eye" law and the victims family asked for the execution... Not the government... A ver complex case of how Instagram algorithm promotes opposition narratives and the facts get buried and many become "fans" of a murderer who used knife as a wrestler... This world is getting dark...

Hey i dont know if its true but my grandpa who was a wrestling coach, said that he met you. His name is joe dow, he calls you “the king of wrestling” so does my mom. I come from a lineage kindof. I hope you see this, ive recently really wanted to start wrestling and my family was ecstatic. If the story i told from teh beginning is true, please comment, it would be an honor.
Sincerely- a wrestling coach’s grandson.
MMA is prohibited in Iran, there are no clubs it they had it they would make a name for themselves like in wrestling
He was not involved in a peaceful protest... he killed someone and the family asked that he be put yo death smh talk about misinformation
Iranian wrestler who executed wasn't any hero or anything and he didn't participate in peaceful protest, he just abused his power to corner people and stoled their belongings by knife and when a watch men reported him he and his brother killed that family man with wife and children in cold blood.
In iran if you kill someone government can't do no harm to you if the victim's family forgive you but the media in the west start to tell lies about him and they blame the victim instead of murderer so his family didn't forgave him and he executed. Actually the western media cause the death and they always use lies against iran to put the pressure on iranian government and people just because iran refuse to bend the knee before usa like 45 years ago but they never say anything about saudi arabia that just few months earlier chopped the head of more that 40 people and even use crucifixion as a punishment for people who disagree the polotics and you know why ? Because saudi arabia is their puppet but iran is an independent country.

You fucking lier he didn't done anything wrong.he got killed just because he was against some garbage like you.
Viva navid Afkari
Dear to Islamic Republic of iran
Wrestling in Muslim culture is very big.
Bigger than Hindu cultures or Christian cultures.
Islam has alot of wrestling cultures
Arab, causcaus, North Africa West Africa Persia etc etc
Don’t compare muslins with Iranians .. it’s completely two different things , Islam was forced on Persians never accepted
Lot of taliban members in comments I see
First of all the government your guest is talking about is is the Shah's regime... Now you can't pass a city without seeing a passage named after the Mr. Takhti the legend. The current government promotes wrestling and is rooted deep in the culture in some Persian cities. that wrestler who was executed was not a national hero, he was just a thug who had cut some dude with knife! Not just to scare but to the throat... A coward wrestler and a shame to the community... However the opposition backed by dominant western media is promoting Navid Afkari because lets face it... Some people buy this sh*t...
Ok.. but being able to hit major league pitching is more difficult than wrestling. You fail 70% and youre an all star.

It's quite surprising that a wrestler became so popular that even the government (during the reign of the secular Shah in 1972) felt threatened. Well It's quite amusing to think about the popularity of Yasdani now ? When is he moving to US? 😂
It’s interesting to see how misunderstood these two chaps are about what’s going on in Iran. With anti-Iran, western controlled media and corrupt social media, it’s not a surprise though. The guy who was executed indeed committed first degree murder and he wasn’t a proper wrestler at all!!! Nowhere near the champions we have in our national team.
Oh look guys! Here's another Islamic Republic apologist. The execution of Navid Afkari was one the cruelest actions in years.
He didn’t do anything wrong . Damn Ayatollahs kill him and jailed his 2 brothers and still they are in jail .thanks for talking about that ,, Freedom For Iran
He was a thug who used knife in his crimes... Talk about wrestling and its humility and sportsmanship, a disgrace to Iranian wrestling community... Don't get brainwashed by Saudi Medias.... Saudi Medias should be talking about the mass beheadings and ethnic cleansings in the kingdom yet they find cracks in the Iran's society to promote shit
Let me correct you, the Iranian wrestler you’re speaking of did in fact commit murder. Please don’t spread propaganda. Thanks.
@Shilan Farnia frankly you’re spreading shit and propaganda. Why would the regime do something that would bring international condemnation at this sensitive time and also stir up trouble within Iran? How does that benefit them???
The only reason they excited that man is because the family of the victim wouldn’t be silenced and asked for their right under the law which is execution-an eye for an eye.
I’m actually way more informed than you are and unlike you I don’t get my information from Manoto, BBC, VOA and the rest of the anti-Iran liars and propagandists.

I am not defending the conduct of the Iranian regime or their crimes against the Iranian people. But that doesn’t mean they’re responsible for every single crime. The world is not polarized the way the media makes out to be. There is no such thing as a Good and Evil person where all of their actions are either Good or Bad 😂. Good people make evil choices and vise versa.
Truth to the matter is that just because a murderer is an athlete that doesn’t mean they should be treated differently. I’ve studied the facts of the case and that Iranian wrestler was guilty of murder and the victim’s family asked for “ghesaas” which is different than execution by the government.
Iranian law has the “eye for an eye” law and murder victim families can request that law legally, which happened in this case. It has nothing to do with the government.
So please don’t generalize and blame everything on the Iranian government the way your Zionist managed Saudi, British, American, etc media’s tell you. Try to think for yourself😉. Fact check and analyze what you hear and don’t make decisions based on emotions.
