Shepherd of 20 years here. We are also very cautious about heat lamps in our barn and lamb in below freezing temperatures in January. We cut off heat lamps at 24 hours when we do have to use them and have never lost a lamb to the cold because by then, they all know how to cuddle with Mom.

Congrats. I would suggest raising the heat lamp up. We once had a ewe situate herself under the lamp. Burnt a lovey black circle onto her back. Smelled like wool burning. Good job Hazel.

Treatment was very scant back then, so pleased that things have improved for your lambs. I am sure your cheeks are sore from all the smiling you are doing, I can feel your happiness. Try taking a dog to the sheep pen. If you have a calm dog, keep it on a lead and stand with it next to the pen, the ewe will be protective which will help with her mothering instincts. Also pen could be smaller 😊
