You are so gracious, which I appreciate. I am from Scotland in the UK and I hear Dan and Ranch clearly. It never sounds like anything else.
I don't generally comment, but today I noticed something that I must acknowledge. You are always so willing to share your joy with us, and I have to thank you for that. Sometimes I forget that life can be joy filled. Thank you for reminding me.
I thought the same. You could feel and hear her joy.
Hi Chelsea I live in Germany and think it's great that you make Spätzle.
You can make the Spätzle mixture a little, not much, thinner.
To make your work easier, you can place the Spätzle press on the edge of the pot and then press it. What's also super delicious is frying the spaetzle in butter and sprinkling with cinnamon and sugar.
Warm greetings from Germany
Claudia
I grew up in Bavaria, Germany. We make German Spaetzle with water and not with milk and ate it with roast and gravy or made Cheese-Spaetzle. It is like a casserole with layers of Spaetzle and cheese and on top end with a layer of cheese, bake it in the oven for around 30 minutes. We serve it with potato salad. So yummy :)
Hi Chelsea, I from southern Indiana and your husband's name Dan and ranch sounds the same but pasta is definitely different from how we pronounce it here. I do watch other videos where they live in Canada and your pronunciation is how they say pasta. Definitely a regional difference but nothing to be concerned about. I really enjoy your videos, and very nice new furniture. It really brightens up the room.
Oh, with cinnamon and butter sounds good Claudia, thank you! My husband lived in Germany for 8 years, I will make him some! Blessings 🙏💞
Hi, I'm from Svabia in Bavaria.
We made Spätzle traditional with water, we top our Cheese-Spätzle = Käss-Spätzle with fried Onion and serve it with Cucumber-Salad.
But we prefer Knöpfe-Spätzle. Thank you for this Video.
OMGosh! YUM! on the Spatzle fried in butter and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar!! Thanks for that suggestion. 🥰
Chelsea, how lucky you are to have the keepsakes from your great grandmother. How cool is it that your great grandmother not only made the dance outfits but drew them out. Your grandmother obviously had her gift of the arts. And I think you do as well. It is an art to cook and bake with love. It is an art to can all your own food and it is an art to manage a home the way you do. All gifts from your grandmother. Xoxo Michelle
I don't care how you pronouce your words. I just love watching you. You are one of the gentlest persons that I watch.
I’m from Alabama and I hear Dan & ranch just clear as a bell. 😊
Me too!
Me too but pasta is not. I’ve noticed not her but others say garage in Canada different from North Carolina
I am from Texas and I hear Dan and ranch clearly as well. No criticism from me, love learning what ever you want to share! ❤
Me too
Iowa. You are clear here too
Thanks to this video, you have identified a “mystery” item in my mother’s collection of kitchenware. She passed away when I was 16. I’m 80, now. All these decades I’ve kept this odd thing that looked to me like a press for a giant heads of garlic (whole head…not clove 😂). Will wonders never cease. This was wonderful! 👌. So happens her father’s family were from Germany.😅.
To me, it looks like a ricer.
How bittersweet for you to learn of this kitchen tool 💕
@@Sharon-bo2seTo me too, my spaetzel maker is very different.
My family called it a potato ricer. My German family never used it for spaetzle.
@@Sharon-bo2se same creature
I am a retired Drama teacher who taught in high school in South Africa. I live and taught in schools in Durban. When I was studying Drama our lecturer taught us never to be phased by any persons accent, it is the rich tapestry of who you are as a person and reflects where you come from, so everyone who listens to you will know where you are from and there is no real right way to say anything unless you want to be phonetically correct. I enjoy your channel and I listen to you with great joy.
I love that!
The joy on your face when you are showing your new living space says it all .
I’m also from Alabama and I hear Dan and ranch, no problem.
Hey Chelsea, it is pronounced different, somethinglike Shpezzle(Sh as in shoe, pe as in pepper, zz as in pizza and le as in lemon) It comes from the southern region Swabia in Germany. It is delicious also as a sidedish for lentil stew and wurst
Oh, and the machine has some „teeth“ on the side opposite to the handles, so you can lean it on the pot, like you would put a wooden spoon on the diagonal of the pot. This way is essier to push. And I would make the dough a bit runnier.
Don’t forget the ä! It’s pronounced like e in egg - egg is actually ägg in Swedish, one of the many words we have in common.
Yes… this is how we pronounce it as well but say ‘la’ at the end 😊
Louisiana here - I hear Dan and ranch. My boys and I now say pAsta like you. We love your joy in all things. You are a staple in our home
I LOVE your new living room and your keepsakes from your grandma and great-grandma! Precious beyond words. 🥰
I lived in Germany for 3 years, many years ago. The people actually encouraged me to speak their language ; even if I didn't pronounce it correctly . They cared more about my attempt to try vs getting it right ❤
I am from Arkansas and I hear DAN and RANCH.. you are good with me, BUT your PASTA version IS different from here.. YOU DO YOU!!!!
I agree, I hear posta but love that. I am from NY but have lived in Germany. Texas and AZ.
East TX here - ditto
Your living room turned out beautifully
Your book with your grandmother's illustrated dance costumes is priceless. What a treasure!
I am from Utah and Dan and ranch sound perfect to me. I love watching you.
I love your accent ( I’m from Michigan) and just hear Canadian pronunciation. Our colloquial differences are a treasure. I love your new furniture and you family heirlooms. What a wonderful synopsis of your family’s history. It’s so charming that you love it so. So many people don’t appreciate their history.
Oh, & you pronounce everything just fine. Like "out" l just knew you were fromCanada 🇨🇦 when l first started watching. Lol
You could probably use that spätzle maker as a ricer for mashed potatoes, too!
Had to add that the living room looks gorgeous! Anyone would be lucky to have such a pretty and warmly inviting room for their family to rest and enjoy each other in at the end of a long day. Congratulations!
Your furniture is absolutely beautiful and lightens up that space hugely. Never realised your lounge was that big. Really gorgeous and congrats on the new furniture. The kitchen cupboards being lighter flow so well with the furniture. Huge difference.
It’s wonderful that your moms gifting thing to y’all while she’s still here on earth. That way you and your children can ask questions and get the stories behind the heirlooms. It’s a wonderful gift in hearing the history from her.
Oh my goodness, this space is so beautiful!!! I seriously love it!! Thank you for sharing all your joy with us!!
I’m from the UK and I say pasta exactly the way you do. 💙👍🏻
Having finished the video, I’m so happy for you for your new living room-having “your” space makes such a difference! Also, I think you must take after your great-grandmother! The care and attention she put into loving her family and using that as her creative outlet is a trait you definitely share 😊
That warmed my heart, thank you.
Hi, I'm in NE Texas, born and raised for almost 65 years and I've been told I have a heavy southern accent. My brothers name is Dan and when you say it, I hear Dan. I also hear ranch clearly. Just your Canadian way of saying pasta (I say pausta) and you say house (I say howse) and about sounds like you're saying aboot, lol, there's some others but I can't think of them now. But I love listening to you! I have an old friend from Canada and I love how she pronounces words differently. It's what makes the world go round, eh? 😊 Had to come back and edit to say your living room is beautiful!!! I love it! And the heirlooms, wow! How amazing to have such treasures! I have my mom's first Bible. It is very special to me.
Love the living room and the Bible looks like my parents and brings back memories.
It’s actually Americans that pronounce words differently. Nowhere else in the world would you hear pasta pronounced pausta. 😊
@@lesleydickson7746true, that’s why it’s called American English 😊❤
Your living room furniture is lovely!! Your precious mementos are beautiful and have such good meaning. Love the Bible!
I am in Ontario and I hear Dan and ranch just perfect.
I am from the Northeast and you are NOT saying anything incorrectly! Every region has a right to pronounce the way that works for them. To my ears you sound Canadian and thats absolutely ok! I doubt someone in the South would like to be told by a New Yorker that they are pronouncing words incorrectly and to change the way they speak, and vice versa. You do you!
Oh girl....that book of drawings...priceless.
Take pictures of each page.
Then you can have certain pictures made up on canvas print to decorate a little grand daughter's room.
With the pictures in your camera make each of your children a complete little book on shutterfly.
The furniture is very cozy looking. Makes you want to drop by and visit.
Looking forward to that rooster lamp...my weakness...lamps.
I love that you are a Canadian channel in the sea of American UA-cam (absolutely no offence to all the wonderful American content creators I watch), as it’s so refreshing to have someone coming from a Canadian perspective. Your living room looks amazing 💕!!
What a comfortable and inviting living room. I can see you, with a fire, enjoying your tea, and reading through your vintage recipe books, planning your next video for us! Thank you so much for being in my life! ❤️
I’m from Massachusetts and I hear “Dan” and that’s the way I say it.
The living room is absolutely beautiful and the keepsake cabinet is a wonderful heirloom. You clearly follow in a tradition of talented, creative women. Thank you for sharing.
Also you say Grandma exactly like my family on my mother’s side and my great grandfather was William Freeman from Quebec, And fought in WW 1 for Canada. I am from Texas and live in Colorado and love to hear you speak as you sound like my Grandma! Don’t change you, you are just right!
Love everything about this video, the food, the new furniture (I love plaid too), and especially the book of your Great Grandmother’s dance costumes 🥹❤️🥹
That is a potato ricer for making mashed potatoes. A spatzle maker looks more like a grater .
I love the way we hear things differently. I grew up in New Hampshire, but live in Florida now. All of my kids are born and raised down here. My oldest hears it "Dahn" and "Raunch" but me and my middle hear it Dan and Ranch.
The living room is beautiful. I also hear Dan and ranch when you speak.
Your new living room is so zen and peaceful! And that book of your grandmother's! What a treasure!
You are Canadian and speak Canadian English therefore you are speaking perfectly!!!
I'm Canadian too and your pronounciation is perfect 😊
I’m in Kentucky and I hear Dan and ranch clearly.
How beautiful! Light furniture balances the darker wood perfectly and the lamps ❤ having family heirlooms in the room makes it so cozy and being able to glance at them keeps them close to your heart! You did a fabulous job!❤❤❤
I'm from Massachusetts, and I hear and understand your pronounce, and I absolutely loved your smile showing us your new living room, Dan was right 😂😂 no more brown, your new living room fits perfectly with your personality, light and bright ❤
Chelsea, the costume book is so precious. The little black dress and the soilder outfit is what Shirley Temple wore in some of her movies. How neat! Priceless to you I know.
One of my most treasured possessions is the Bible my grandparents used daily. The margins and any extra pages are filled with dates, notes and comments about special scriptures. I love reading them and trying to imagine why certain passages were so special to them. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Don’t change how you say words. We each speak in different dialects depending on where we grew up and where we live now. We are uniquely made by God as His special treasure . A-Ohio
That chair is so YOU. Love it
Chelsea I hear Dan & ranch just as clear but whenever you say the word down I hear it as Dan . Lots of love from India
I'm originally from Michigan. My name is "Jan" but many people from or in other states think I'm saying "Jane." Your soap is so pretty...reminds me of white chocolate 😋 And your new furniture is lovely...really brightens up the room! Your great-grandmother's book of your grandmother's costumes is priceless😍
I think the bigger difference is in scooping vs pouring into a measuring cup. I never scoop, always pour. Better yet, flour should be measured by weight, not volume.
Your channel is so relaxing/inspiring, just wanted to say thanks for making your videos. I watch them all the time if I've had a hectic day and need positive vibes. Sending love from Alberta :)
The lighter furniture opens up the room. It look’s really good! The treasures from your mom and grandma are beautiful. My husband and I have my mom and dad’s bibles that they used and his mom’s bible. There’s something so beautiful about a well used and loved bible with its frayed edges and personalized notes. ❤️
I love your Canadian accent and your channel! For fun, I looked up Spatzle (I am not able to add the umlaut above the letter a on the comment section here) on Google translate and the word is pronounced Schpetz-luh. There is a “sound” icon when you type in the German word so you can click on that icon to hear it. Check it out if you’re interested. 😊 It looks delicious! 😋😋😋
I love when you say P words other than that you speak clearly for me to understand ❤
I'm from Montreal, so I definitely hear you say Dan & Ranch, I love your channel and thank you for the Merino wool website, I adore them
Hello fellow Montrealer.
I am in New Jersey and I hear Dan and Ranch clearly 👍🏻
I have lived in Virginia since birth and live near rural areas with country accents and my mom had a hint of northern accent her family originated from Ohio. So, when you say roof, instead of smooth sound on the vowels yours is like a hard sound. It cracks me up because I was watching another homestead style youtuber and when he installed his solar system, he said it how you do. I have never laughed so hard for over 30 minutes. My mom's mother said metal and bottle with a "d" instead of "t", I would always get the look from mom when I started to giggle. As always thank you for sharing your world so I can escape mine for a few. Hope you and your family are healthy and happy.
From Virginia and I hear Dan and ranch exactly as I would say it. Same!
I’m from the middle of the US and I hear you exactly as you hear it. I actually found this conversation very interesting.
My Mom was German. That kitchen item was called a potato ricer in our family. We made spaetzle as a looser dough. We put the dough on a dampened wooden cutting board and cut pieces into the boiling water. Think of misshapened marbles. We browned bread crumbs in butter and tossed with the spaetzle, which was our favorite way to eat it.
I have watched you for many years. And I love your videos so much! You are so happy and kind. Thank you. I absolutely LOVE your new furniture. You should definitely buy another chair. You totally have the room.❤
I love your videos and your accent. I'm from the east coast of the US and the way you say "bag" always gets me. :) it's sounds like "beg"
Thank you for sharing your lifestyle with us. Your videos are a blessing.
I’m from Michigan and I hear Dan and Ranch.
@LittleMountainRanch Dear Chelsey, what a tremendous tribute to your ancestry. Thank you also for sharing your most loved and precious keepsakes, especially that beautiful old Holy Bible. It warmed my heart to see the complete joy it brought to you by sharing this with us. Thank you again, God bless you and yours from South Africa.
I just watched a few of your older videos, your children are very helpful and beautiful I had 8 children all grown up now have now got26 grand children and 6 great grandchildren plus one more on the way, I really enjoy watching you in your kitchen keep up the good work 😊
I really like the furniture and the colours, my style of things. The book of your grandma’s dancing outfits is just too precious. Glad you can place it in a special cabinet. Just wonderful.
I love the living room so pretty. It’s so wonderful that your mother gives family heirlooms as gifts. What a great idea I think I will start doing that.
I’m from Virginia and I understand your pronunciation of Dan & ranch (actually think you enunciate much clearer than we do 😊). Love the living room furniture. The costume drawing book is such a beautiful and whimsical heirloom to have.
Your livingroom furniture is beautiful! I love the color palette, and the patterns. It's all so pretty and cozy. And thank you for sharing your beautiful heirlooms. That is a wonderful and precious collection. ❤
Lisa not Bob
I love your living room, and the colors goes good with your kitchen colors. Also, all your family treasures are beautiful. I really love the book of all the costumes that was amazing.
Your living room is beautiful.
Your living room is beautiful it’s bright, welcoming and relaxing and it matches your fireplace beautifully. It looks really really good. I’m so happy for you.❤
I love how much you adore your family heirlooms. I too am blessed with many treasures from my family. I am fortunate enough to have journals of my mother’s life. She started journals in grade school and continued until the Alzheimer’s entered her life. The very last gift she gave me was when she passed at the age of 90. As I opened the cedar chest the journal lying open on top was the day of my birth. I still get tears when I think of it 6 years later.
The lighter furniture really lifts the space and looks great with all the wood, you made a good choice.
I am from West Virginia- USA. I love how you say pasta! I hear Dan.
Thank you so much Chelsea for this video! I teared up watching the heirlooms from your grandmother, how special that is! I lost my mom 12 years ago , and have some of her collections in my cabinet as well… also your living room is just beautiful! Love the chair! Your videos are calming and inspiring.. thanks so much!..🙏🤗❤️
The Dance Book is beyond precious! Definitely an heirloom in anyone’s family. So glad you can enjoy it!!!
Your living room is beautiful! Love your family treasures.
Your Spazle pasta got notches to where you can put on your pot for durability there are 3 notches on it! Learn something everyday! Absolutely love your TEA ROOM! Perfect color and contrast!
Your living room is beautiful, the furniture is perfect for the space. Lovely
I'm from Pennsylvania and I hear ranch and Dan
Your room looks comfortable and cozy.
I'm West Viy but live in Kentucky I hear Dan and ranch just fine😊
I’m from Louisiana, and I hear Dan and ranch. I do say pasta with the “ah” sound. I love your channel!! Keep doing you!
Everyone has their own accents and yours is unique. I love your accent💜
Love, love, love the new furniture, especially the chair
I’m from SE Georgia and I hear Dan and ranch. But then again I was raised all over the world. Love spatzle. Looks good to me. You are pronouncing it fine. A lot of time Germans use a screen type to make the spatzle. It should be small rice like pastas.
WOW...such special memories from your Great Grandmother .... Way to go Dan at reaching out for new color in your space! Such a fun video. Beautiful Space for tea~ or a glass of wine in front of that fire place! Thank you
I love your new furniture!. The colors are beautiful. It makes me happy to see how much you treasure your family's history. Those drawings were so detailed and beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
That furniture is stunning! Your livingroom looks so inviting! What a treasure to have that collection 😍
The new living room furniture is beautiful, bright and airy. What a treasure to have family heirlooms. I too have some precious pieces from both my grandmothers, I am 74, so you know they are old.
It’s beautiful furniture. You need a rug all your furniture will sit on. Also raise your curtains rods to the ceiling. You will need new curtains, so they are touching the floor. Not high waters.
What incredible memories in your cabinet. I have all my treasures in my corner cabinet as well.
I am also Canadian and it amazes me we have an accent to others! The new furniture is perfect for your living room. Good choice with the colours. I would invest in a Bissel Green Machine for spot cleaning on light fabric. One of the best cleaning investments I made.
Hi Chelsea, I'm from New Zealand and I hear Dan and ranch 😃 Your lounge looks amazing, the furniture is lovely and makes the room look brighter. I love the heirlooms in your china cabinet. What lovely memories they hold for you. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
I absolutely love your living room, my taste exactly. I am like you and a little cautious at doing colour and patterns but you have nailed it. The room looks so cosy and yet so special. The cabinet rings so true to me, I have collected some special pieces, mainly china, for a cabinet I have. Unfortunately, I do not have any of my grandmother's things that I remember her loving as there was such a large family and they were claimed by others beforehand. There was a division in my family and those that my beautiful Mum had are not available to me, but the memories will be in my heart forever. My Mum passed in her sixties and I treasure anything that she loved and gave me. I have recently been giving some of my special things to my two precious daughters who love these things like I do. I have had and still have some health issues and I wanted my girls and my son to have these treasures that I have enjoyed just as you have some from your Mum. You have made my day with your collection and love for all your family treasured and spent time with. Who cares how you pronounce things, that is what makes us individuals. I live on the east coast of Australia in the lovely city of Newcastle, my hometown is beautiful and I love visiting and seeing other places but this is my home and the home of my children and family. I am a lucky lady.
Don't worry about saying words the way you do. I love your accent. Never mind what other people say. I grew up in California and everyone would ask me if i was from the south. 😊
Your living room furniture is so beautiful.. the blue sofa and the wing chair is my favorite
I love the new furniture, and I love the keepsakes in the cabinet! Especially the book…
Dear Great Aunt Dora emigrated here from Germany around 1890. She made spatzle and pronounced it Spet-zel-lee. Her method was to flour her hands, pick up some dough and rub her hands together dropping bits of the dough in whatever hot broth she was using. Everyone adored her and I am so fortunate to have known her. ❤
