I'm 41 years old and listen to music since i can remember but discovered this song and this band literally 2 hrs ago. OMG, what i have missed all these years!!!
Truly the most beautiful amazing loving song in the world, my dad who has dimentia, reacts to this song 🏴 🏴 🏴 he loves it. He's been in a care home for 2 years now and when we play this too him he just changes and grabs our 👐 an emotional and he just let's me my brother and sister that he is still there Our words can't describe what this means to us. Thank you so much for Runrig 🙏🙏🏴🏴😁😁
Interesting to read your comment, Craig. Just last week, I had a very similar experience with my mom (89) who also suffers from dementia. She was very driven and restless that day - when, in utter dispair, I started to play RUNRIG's "THE STORY" for my own sanity. Miraculously, mom almost instantly calmed down, reached for my hand, and appeared content and at peace. Amazing. 🎶 🏴 🙏
I can't begin to explain just how much I miss Runrig. Saw them in my late teens right through till I was nearly 50. What a journey. So many happy memories.
Miss Ru rig sooo much, got all the cd's & videos but its the live gigs am missing, altho theres a band called Beat the drum & they are doing a very good job & its great to get dancing again, seem them twice & eill be seeing them again on 4 rth December in Nottingham!
Jetzt habe ich den Salat, meine Augen fangen an zu schwitzen . 😢 Einfach ein traumhaftes Lied. Es erinnert an so vieles Live erleben dürfen. Es bleibt in der Erinnerung
This was the record we had for our first dance when we got married - a great song and we're still going strong almost 17 years on.... 'This is our life and our time and nothing is ever going to break us now we're on our own...'
I was lucky enough to meet Donnie and his family and spend the day with them when he opened the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust visitor centre on the Isle of Mull in 2000, such a nice guy and I am only now discovering their music I am ashamed to admit!
I found Runrig in 1994 when my brother had a Scottish girlfriend and brought Wheels in Motion back from Scotland. I fell in love with the band and travelling all round Scotland and England untill they retired in 2017.
Like shadows on the wall You come and you go Through the streets And the rain that falls down On our sin No more good-byes Forever this way Whenever the greatest flame in the world Starts burning This is our life, and our time And nothing, is ever going to break us Now we're on our own Always in your eyes A waking of souls We gaze out on the road That brought us up To this place The signposts never change We'll go where they lead Whenever the day to break us comes We'll not give in This is our life, and our time And nothing, is ever going to break us Now we're on our own Own This is our place, in our lives And no one can ever change this moment Or pull this mountain to the ground Live the day when the flame is strong Live the day when the flame is strong Come the day when love is gone Take it over, Take it over Live the day when the flame is strong Live the day when the flame is strong Come the day when love is gone Take it over, Take it over This is our life, (our life) and our time (our time) And nothing, is ever going to break us Now we're on our own Own This is our place, (our place ) in our lives (our lives) And no one can ever change this moment Or pull this mountain to the ground
Probably the best band ever the words of all their songs have such depth and meaning i have all their cds and am lucky to have followed them for 35 years
I’ve listened to these guys since I was about 8 year old,my friend Ross Macintosh s old fella gave me a listen of the cutter ,then I was about 14 I’ve not seen them in 20 year but this song reminds me of the friendship we had.i miss them
Seen them a few times in Portsmouth too...just missed Loch Lomond where I'm from and Stirling Castke missed by a col wks bxs qe couldn't that fortnight off work. Still gutted nearly 20 yrs on 👍😅
My husband introduced me to Runrigs music when I was 40, I am 71 now and never ever heared a voice like Donnie Munros, not ever. When they sang in Gaelic I didnt know it and thought that my ears were playing up again. I saw them live many times. I prefer Mr Munros voice, it is Runrig. Sorry but I wasnt keen on the fat geezer who replaced him, dont want to upset anyone, I know the bloke has passed on, and that is sad.
wonderful song. i know this band for only 10 years, but they already changed my life. i was a part of the awesome audience at the last concert in germany at june 9th this year. runrig will live on in my heart and mind forever!! #alba #runrig4ever
This band is one of my favorites. Hate that I didn't ever get to see them before they stopped performing. Then again, I'm in the US and they were from Scotland.
Does anyone know what is the story behind these lyrics does it have something to with the ruins of the background? I am wondering because it is an interesting video and the lyrics are dramatic. Where is this place by the way? I am interested of that too as I am planning to visit Scotland for a month in 2023.
He went into Politics to try to help his ppl in a more practical way...he was cheated bcs it's all been rigged for years. Wish Runrig would reform with Donnie. I love Donnie & Rory's Voices.
Donnie Monroe is brilliant, but his dancing detracts from his lyrics... There’s just something not right about it. He’d be be better just standing still and singing! And that goes for Protect and Survive and his other brilliant songs. Best heard but not seen. You don’t want your favorite voice to look like a twat!
Strongly disagree...Musicians aren't Stiff Stooges. 🙄👍😅 That's what Music is meant to do make you FEEL & MOVE 🤦♀️😅 Stir Your Soul to Move Your Body...I think he is a great mover and perfectly in time. It's called Soul. 👍😁 💃🏽🌲🕺

"Every River" was our wedding song. Everyone loved the Runrig song. There will never be another band like Runrig. Still love listening to them.❤

@@ianmoffatt442 It was our wedding song too, 25 years ago
You do know that retired in 2018 from touring.
@@rosiep3209 Yes, it's shame. Still love listening them on CD though. Especially The Greatest Flame, our wedding song. Stay safe.
Oh my God, what a song, it makes happy and sad at the same time ❤😢❤
Gone but by no means forgotten
They've only broke up, not died
We shall miss runrig....... Undoubtedly one of their best songs......
The greatest flame will never go out for the greatest band...
@@michaelantonyaustin spot on mate... So many great tunes...
One of my favourites too.
His voice is the best. Just beautiful.

This song will for ever be in my heart
I can't decide who sang it better, Donnie, Bruce or Brian? Each time it is different, yet always hauntingly beautiful...
Runrig a classic Scottish band. And superb song writers also. There songs are just amazing. And I'm proud to be Scottish all 57 years of me.
Schade dass dieser Sänger nicht mehr dabei ist bei Runrig
Jetzt habe ich den Salat, meine Augen fangen an zu schwitzen .

Runrig forever in my heart. We will never forget you.
There is no voice as beautiful as Donnie Munro's

That is always debatable... 😉😉
You could say that again
Ye huvny heard mise.
Debatable but still very good
I met the man in Buchanan Street when I was 9, Runrig Forever!!!
The Greatest Flame has a special place in our hearts. Our first dance at our wedding
This was the record we had for our first dance when we got married - a great song and we're still going strong almost 17 years on.... 'This is our life and our time and nothing is ever going to break us now we're on our own...'

The signposts never change
We'll go where they lead
Whenever the day to break us comes
We'll not give in
This is our life, and our time

Now we're on our own

This is our place, in our lives

Greatest song ever
Love you singing this song 💕
No one can match Donnie Munro’s voice when he left it took the soul out of Runrig.
Donnie's voice > 1000x Bruce's, but personally I'm pleased they carried on - made quite a few more good songs.
Different band when Donnie left, never quite resonated for me. Mind you Donnie never was never the same without Callum and Rory either.
@@dougy0761 that’s true they were the heart he was the soul.
what a Joy they could bring at concerts in Denmark where we were lucky they came often glad to have that in my memory box :)
One of the best runrig songs. Still is after all these years, Donnies version the best
I love runrig i always think of Andy Clark a taxi driver from Irvine. Back in the day. A good pal of mine.
