We met this amazingly nice and immensely talented individual ( Donnie Munro) at my sons cafe in Glasgows west end, North Star in Queen Margarets drive years ago. I will never forget it. He was a diamond. X
We had this at our wedding at Duck Bay marina in 2018.. My wife being from Glasgow and me from Sheffield I'm an adopted Scot.. Alway get this put on when I'm out.. Its amazing how many people enjoy this song for the first time...
Last year my wife and I went on a Globus coach tour of Scotland and we both loved the country and its history. Scotland and Loch Lomond made a deep impact on me and while searching for the latter on iTunes I found Runrig. I too have the same feelings and reactions as THeGC1888 has every time I play it. Runrig is a great band and there presentation of Loch Lomond along with the audience's participation is for me deeply moving. Loch Lomond is really more a revered anthem of Scotland and should never be trivialised as simply a song.
I am a Scot. I speak from the heart. I drink my whisky from a Quaich I wear my clan tartan with an arrogant pride I fight back tears at the skirl of the pipe and drum I will walk once again in the land of my ancestors and know that I am home.
Spine tingling to a Canadian who was born of Scottish parents right after they immigrated to Canada. First heard this version whilst living in Saudi Arabia where 125 Scot Expats gathered in a compound to Out sing they bastard English ( for the game they were) in the Euro 2000 playoff Done it over both legs 125 Scots 3 Irish burds and a Canuck outsinging the English and their Vindaloo song we were belting out to this. Great tune.
One of my most favourite songs of all time. My mom's name was Bonny she died in 2007 at just 50 years old. Although my family left Scotland centuries ago this song makes me feel closer to my family and my heritage.
It was a glorious day and evening, worth the trip, and great that there were so many other nationalities, i stayed in Renton next to Balloch the night before and after the concert, was a fantastic weekend,
The first time I heard this, I was in the Bettyhill Hotel Pub, in 2000, an American tourist looking for herself and making new friends. I was so moved I began to weep and had to go outside to heather and hill to compose myself. The way Runrig performs it is an amazing, moving anthem! I love it! Goosebumps and tears, indeed!! Thank you, Lads!!!
I know exactly what you mean. Well I've never been an American tourist but I fell in love in Scotland with Runrig as the background. Isle of Skye festival in that glorious summer 1986. What a life! We were at Loch Lomond for this show. We went home by boat across the Loch.
My Primary school teacher talked the class through the story of the song and we performed it in the school concert some 60 years ago. I've always loved the song, but this is by far the best version i have ever heard. Superb stuff RIP Donnie!!!
I'm Irish and proud but this song gives me goosebumps and hairs stand on the back of my neck I feel patriotic towards Scotland,I've Scottish ancestry in my family tree somewhere this is also an Irish song called red are the roses
I am also Irish with some Scottish ancestory and we all used to sing Loch Lomond. Then Tommy Makem and the Clancy Bros changed the actual words to "Red is the Rose" I am nearly certain that it was actually Tommy Makem. who took the melody and put his own words to it and called it "Red is the Rose" . On saying it might have been Liam Clancy but I do remember Tommy Makem talking about Loch Lomond and explaining what they did. I think all these people have passed on. They were a great folk group.

they used ti play this in a wee bar i used to frequent back in the 90s was the last song every closing time, had the place jumpin everyone singin along was fkn brill
My father was born in Glasgow and moved to Australia. Whenever we have visitors up or he had the cd player on its always runrig live and Loch Lomond comes on he would put it up on full volume he loved that song. This song always reminded me of him growing up in Scotland.
ur father was a very wise man im from glasgow milton runrig so good
Remember playing pool against my Dad (rest in peace) in a pub in Eymouth and this coming on the jukebox. Great memory - thanks for the song.
Aussie here, glad to hear the songs of my ancestors, my family left scotland on the tichonderoga, but never forgotten where i come from.
I was there, the whole day was amazing
Love Runrig. I heard them first when I was living in the U.S. (I am Scots). I cried my eyes out the first time I heard this. I am home now.
Donnie Munro has one of the most beautiful pop music voices I’ve ever heard.
It’s time to be independent Scotland - take your rightful place among the nations of the world. Cross of St. Andrew flying proudly in NYC outside the UN. Scotland with their own voice in the World!
Yes please, leave RUK. If the English could vote in an indy referendum you would be long gone.
Crazy dude, what the f you smoking.
They were in Denmark last saturday, and this was one of the encores. I nearly cried! Love them!
Still one of the most iconic songs ever
There will never be a band which commands such love, loyalty and respect, and such bloody fantastic music as these guys; at least not in my lifetime!!!
I've always loved this even though i'm not Scotish ! One of my bestest Friends who very sadly passed away a couple of years back introduced me to RunRig, It always reminds me of the one & only Fruit Bat aka Chris Townsend ! Miss you my friend RIP !
Proud To Be Scottish 🏴🏴🏴 No Matter Who Is Singing ! Runrig Are Nrly All Scots ! This Gets Played Every New Year, Parties, Weddings & Funerals Yeah Funerals!!
Wow this brings back the memories! I was at this gig and what a fantastic day it was. The sun was shining, the beer flowing and the music during the whole day was just great.
We met this amazingly nice and immensely talented individual ( Donnie Munro) at my sons cafe in Glasgows west end, North Star in Queen Margarets drive years ago. I will never forget it. He was a diamond. X
more of a folk purist here but.....my goodness how can you not love this, such beautifull vocals, such togetherness with the crowd just wow!!
Love the way we Scottish talk That great big lump of water down there ❤
Well I'm Scottish and i'm beautiful thank you very much.
i bet you are, all scots are beautiful inside and out. best country and people in the world without a doubt.
Runrig is a great band and there presentation of Loch Lomond along with the audience's participation
is for me deeply moving. Loch Lomond is really more a revered anthem of Scotland and should never be trivialised as simply a song.
The thing about Runrig concerts is everyone look so damn happy. I saw them in 96 in London-such a great band!
Seen them at loch Lomond,Glasgow green,Oban, Manchester and each venue was jumping when they take to the stage from the first to the last song
There’s a lot of things that make us proud to be Scot’s, and that’s up there with the best of them🏴
22nd June 1991 I was 11 years old and can still feel the hair on the back of my neck standing. Had to learn to pogo real quick haha
I am a Scot.
I speak from the heart.
I drink my whisky from a Quaich
I wear my clan tartan with an arrogant pride
I fight back tears at the skirl of the pipe and drum
I will walk once again in the land of my ancestors and know that I am home.
Dobber the robber
Here in Scotland we just call that walking, to the bus, the boat or to the end of the street.
and i drnk mine fea a cup
me tae stevie lol
Amen brother
Spine tingling to a Canadian who was born of Scottish parents right after they immigrated to Canada. First heard this version whilst living in Saudi Arabia where 125 Scot Expats gathered in a compound to Out sing they bastard English ( for the game they were) in the Euro 2000 playoff Done it over both legs 125 Scots 3 Irish burds and a Canuck outsinging the English and their Vindaloo song we were belting out to this. Great tune.
Beautiful, to aw the people fae the world saying they love Scotland. WE LOVE YA RIGHT BACK
One of my most favourite songs of all time. My mom's name was Bonny she died in 2007 at just 50 years old. Although my family left Scotland centuries ago this song makes me feel closer to my family and my heritage.
Sorry for your loss. 🏴
@@kirkdandie thank you

Pure joy! 🎉
A very underrated and talented band
@@FrankRobinson99 wow!
My Primary school teacher talked the class through the story of the song and we performed it in the school concert some 60 years ago. I've always loved the song, but this is by far the best version i have ever heard. Superb stuff RIP Donnie!!!
If its the lead singer donnie munro you are saying RIP to, he's not dead
Brings a tear every time I hear this
What a great place to stay. I'm so lucky to have such a great view
I'm a kiwi yeah jealous the Scottish people I have ever met are beautiful people so kind and friendly God Bless
God bless yr wee soul.. 🏴
To me personally, the best live version ever of Loch Lomond by the band.
As a Scot this makes me emotional. Love it.
There is no people prouder than the Scots, and rightly so. You are all wonderful. Love from New Zealand.
Not that fucking proud if they voted to English rule haha
