looking at the demo, it appears that it can make minimal enhancements
on videos that are almost perfect to begin with, at 200 dollars
and probably a new CPU at 500 dollars i say forget it

For upscaling a video with this software, is it better to upscale directly to the resolution that you want or to do it in small increments?

would u recommend this software to me for upscaling my 1080p videos shot on a6400 to 4k? I shoot a lot of 120fps footage in 1080p and if this software is good enough I might not have to buy a7s3 for 4k 120fps, ofcourse I understand it wont fix the 10 bit color depth difference, but if it can atleast come close enough to a native 4k 120fps footage shot on camera then I am sold. Need your honest opinion. Also a rough estimate, how long will it take to convert a 30 minute 1080p footage (24 fps) to 4k ? Thanks.
It might be a useful way to do what you want. I'm not a professional videographer so I don't know about that use case specifically. There is a free trial for Video Enhance AI. You can try it out for yourself. Let me know how it goes or if you need help using it.
Time to upscale depends on your GPU a lot. I'd check out the trial first.
In my case the trial is showing 5 days and couple hours, would that go quicker after I buy the software?

1.7.1 is crap. You can't do anything else on the fucking computer while upscaling!!! Attempting to even play video just stutters endlessly.
