Greetings from the UK. Finally I now understand back button focusing. Thank you. I have subscribed so please keep the GX85 tips coming. (GX80 in the UK)
Thanks for the tutorial. Is there a way to keep the magnification on while shooting video in MF? I was shooting some fish underwater yesterday and it was really tough to tell when I was in focus.
great help thanks, with camera set to manual focus often I have one camera on tripod and the other for moving shots doing videos. when i need to shut off camera on tripod (saving battery life) then turn it back on the focus changes? which slows things down a bit. love to fix this? thanks for any help
Hi. Do you know why it's not possible to manually adjust focus after using the AF-ON button? It's only possible while holding the button. That isn't really logical to me. Also, is there a way to set AF focus type if it's in manual mode and using the AF-ON? The single area is just not flexible enough.
Very useful tip! Thank you! What's that diffuser you have on your flash? Do you know of anything smaller that would just exactly fit the flash itself? Thanks again.
I see that you are taking single snaps. I only get continuous video shot when I press the click button. Then I have to choose a still from the video. No direct single snap How to get the single snap with the press of the button as you seem to do here. Can you explain please
Or playing with the left and right arrows (left and right of the "OK" button - central menu). I wish they could have done it using either the front or back rotating wheel instead. Massive hassle!
I like how you have to press 3 times on the touch screen to get the input without complaining :) it so describes products of 2017: maybe it works, maybe it works a little bit
Valentino Photography we filmed this video with a smartphone rigged to the camera. I confess my coordination and especially depth perception suffer when I'm shooting and operating through a smartphone screen. The touchscreen is actually just fine... I just have bad finger aim when I can't directly look at an off balance camera :)

Just picked the GH 85 up yesterday and am learning the focus. That back focus is so useful! Thank you for this, much appreciated!
This was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you. I think this will help a ton while shooting video.
Very useful! I never knew about the back button focus. Thank you!! This should solve my focusing issues.

How to set the Gx85 so when the photoshoot frame crop in the scren or viewfinder is the same size as the result in manual setting?
Did you mention what kind of lens you had on the camera? One with a manual focus ring?

Hanz Solo the diVUser is available for order at vulephoto.com/cameras
Hanz Solo there are lots and lots of flash mounted diffusers. They are mostly useless for dental which is why i developed mine.
Do I have to be in Custom setting to do this?

Ok I know this is a ridiculous question but you see the AF button on the right hand side of the camera how do I GET THAT! Lol
I have a GX85 with a 12-32mm kit lens which does not have a focus ring. How can I actually focus after switching to MF mode?
You focus using a slider on the screen.
Or playing with the left and right arrows (left and right of the "OK" button - central menu). I wish they could have done it using either the front or back rotating wheel instead. Massive hassle!
Is that a dental display prop in the background? Are you wearing scrubs?? ARE YOU A DENTIST? ???
🤣😂
what flash are you using ?
The Panasonic Lumix FL-200R
