6.7 POWERSTROKE 15 TURBO RETROFIT KIT IS AWESOME!

- This time on Tow Rig Tech it is finally time to upgrade the turbo on our 2013 6.7 powerstroke. The 11-14 turbos were this weird dual inlet design that are hard to upgrade and tend to fail when you push them. Since my daily driver truck has 255,000 miles on our factory turbo I new it was time to upgrade. I went with a Ford Performance 6.7 powerstroke 15 turbo retrofit kit from our friends over at Full Force Diesel Performance. This kit includes everything you could possibly need to do the swap. With some mild tuning you can get an easy additional 100 Horsepower and 100 ft/lbs of torque. Since this was a big undertaking with no videos on here I took it to a local shop at Rohling Diesel to give me a hand to I could make the best possible video for all of you at home. The results speak for themselves. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I do my new found horsepower.

That really is a very nice turbo kid. 😁✌️
it is a worthy upgrade for sure
Matt great video buddy I’ll see you soon GOD BLESS
Thanks Randle!
Good informative video. Done very well. I had the ccv delete with the hose.. Stinks bad, lots of vapor when the engine is hot. added a catch can and smell and vapor is gone.
Glad it helped
I'm finally getting my upgrade turbo put on, after 3 years running a JUNK Smeding Diesel turbo after my orig 2014 turbo died. I couldn't find the ford Upgrade turbo when the orig one died and had to go with that Smeding turbo. had some health issues for past 3 years but my shoulder is finally healed up enough to work on it.
It really woke up my truck
This is the only video the down pipe was completely removed. That makes it sooo much easier to get to that troublesome up-pipe clamp.
Arnold is a Pro
Arnold is the real deal.@@BustedKnuckleVideo
Surprised you’re still running the EGR cooler. I’ve been deleted with H&S tunes since 16K miles. My EGR (unplugged) finally started leaking internally around 165K. Yanked it off and no more burning coolant out of the secondary reservoir. Keep an eye on yours for sure.
This turbo and the S&S DCR pump are on my short list of future mods!
Yeah gotta keep those emissions in tact for the internet 👍
As he learned from Arnold obviously, EGR can be tuned off. CCV doesn't have that luxury so just vent it overboard.
Congrats on the new upgrades! I did the KC Warlock kit on my '12 a couple of months ago. I'm enjoying the added power after I got the tuning figured out. Was I hearing your fan engaged when you were testing the truck? I thought I could hear it in the video. Just curious...
It's possible, I tested it in the middle of summer in Alabama so it was probably over 90 degrees.
Ya lost me here lol but zoom zoom. I know what is turbo tho... 😂😂❤
it is a lot of work but well worth it in the end
Egt's will run quite a bit cooler with the new Turbo
Even better! 🤘
How much did that kit cost? Just curious because it looks expensive and if I’m gonna spend that much money to upgrade my 2011, I’m probably just gonna go compounds because how much more could it possibly cost and compounds would definitely outperform a single
Why compounds? I'd recommend a big single
I’m surprised your stock exhaust manifolds weren’t warped mine did around 200k. I’m surprised you didn’t run the new gen cp4 that doesn’t destroy the fuel system when it fails eliminating the need for the disaster prevention kit.
I’m still waiting to see if the new cp4 replacement setup works out or not
That's a DCR3 pump which is a CP3
@@RockyMountainHunters nope not cp3
@@RockyMountainHunters No, DCR is different than a CP4 or CP3.
If by "new style CP4" you mean the RCD CPX, that pump can still fail as its still a CP4 at the end of the day. S&S's DCR pump however is not and has been proven to be more reliable.
hello matt every time you upload a video you have to change it to Indonesian. because Indonesia is one of the most populous on earth. and the largest internet user after China and India. So there will definitely be a lot of viewers. it's just a suggestion from me your big fan
How would I go about doing that?
Did you have to retune it for the non waste gate turbo?
absolutely
Why didnt they just pull the cab? Im curios as i may be doing this soon.
No need
Hey Matt
Hey Randle!
I got a 2012 6.7 that I upgraded with the same kit. Once the turbo has spooled up I love it, but from a dead stop the turbo has a hard time spooling up. Did you mess with VGT parameters to get the spool a little quicker? Pulling my RV... from a dead stop the truck almost feels like it is stalling out. It has taken the turbo 10 seconds to spool up before... any ideas?
Some different tuning might help. I love mine
Mine does the exact same thing. Trying to find a better tune for it now. Did you find any tunes that worked for you?
Any luck on tunes for this. I’m in the same boat. I was questioning my install as I don’t hear the turbo spool anymore like I did with the old turbo
Did he leave the waste gate solenoid valve or delete it?
not sure
Just curious, why didn't you put a DCR on?
DCR? Oh the new pump? They weren't really tested at this time.
Where exactly did you get this ? I have a 12 f250
I got it all from www.fullforcediesel.com
Nice! Do you have a components list of what all you ordered and installed?
Should be in the description.
If a feller needed a turbo... that maybe has a little bit of shaft play... and that feller knew of a guy that had one...
It’s just sitting in the box at my shop. Make me an offer
So how much was the total bill ..parts then shop price
Good question, you can look up parts pricing or check the description and would have to call a local shop to you for labor pricing
What did it run you for parts and labor?
I got a deal on the parts and labor so I couldn’t tell you. But if you want to call Full Force Diesel and Rohlings Diesel they could give you a ball park estimate.
I'm a little far north (Montana) but I appreciate your reply. Done a little digging and it looks like 3k for the parts and prob 800-2k for the labor. Seems worth it to me. Have you noticed any change in MPG? I assume it's negligible
Mpg was negligible but the pulling power is sooooo much better
I did the swap on my truck. I'm wondering what tune you are running on yours now?
Can you just do the turbo upgrade or do you have to do all of these upgrades to your truck?
You can do just the turbo and items required to fit the turbo. I just went above and beyond in the name of reliability since I drive long distances often in it.
@@BustedKnuckleVideothanks a lot.
What was the bill for all of this?
good question
What motorhome is that? Year and model?
2015 four winds chateau
"keep it emissions compliant".. Next scene deletes pcv for a road draft tube. 😅
PCV reroute keeps it from getting clogged up and causing oil leaks. 😬
Road draft has a venturi effect because of the angle and causes slight vacuum to suck the gasses out. Stock with s clean filter does the same thing. This, will cause a leak or backup way faster. Route it to your exhaust with a venturi for the best results
So you can’t make your truck howl at people anymore?
Nope
Ugh, as much as want to be a powerstroke fan every time I see someone working on one reminds me how much hassle the V8 configuration adds.
they are so reliable and make good power. That is why I have two of them
Not me Matt give me a carburetor and older motor and I’m right where I’m supposed to be but none of that.
The fuel mileage is worth it and towing capacity
You’re not putting in a 15’ high pressure fuel pump! You’re installing an DCR pump engineered by S&S diesel. Diesel Common Rail. You really wouldn’t need the disaster prevention kit.. but it won’t hurt.
Yeah the DCR just doesnt have enough real world testing for me to drop the money on it yet.
So… No more howling at people?
Nope
Been quicker to pull the dog house off
dog house?
This is a truck not a van lol, no reason to pull the cab for this either, it's not that bad.
In the first 30 seconds of your video you said that you have 250,000 miles on your truck and then said that the twin turbo you have in it is unreliable and fails prematurely. I don’t think both those statements can be true lol
I said they are known for failing on those model trucks. My take off is actually is decent shape and has very little slop.
Pump only has 2 pistons, don't need to pull all the fuel lines especially the injector line to pull the cp4. Smh
there was a reason for it...it just didn't get shown on video for obvious reasons...
