I mean he did have a really cool look it might not be an essential part of his character but it does matter he has a unique design that stands out and he's an alien so it would've be cool to see that contrast
Pretty much this. It's not about the nose (or lack thereof), it's about Gorr looking the part of an alien. Can the character be done justice without looking like his comic counterpart? Sure. Do I think it would be better if he looked the part? Sure. Most likely the real reason they decided to change his look is because they thought it would make him look too much like another pale, noseless guy who wore black robes, and didn't want kids asking why "he who must not be named" is in a Thor movie. I get that.
I agree with your agreement. I think it'd be nice to have just a few more villains who straight up win... But to be honest, even if they had a villain lose, I wish they didn't just do away with them. As Rob said, Gorr is just *that cool* so having him be a one-off is... ehh... Would rather not have it happen that way.
I cried when I seen what Marvel did with Ghost & Task Master. I went home sad.... They have a chance here with my boy Gorr thou. Let hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
I believe in Taika Waititi. If anyone can do Gorr justice on screen it's him. He killed it with Hela (no pun intended). I still think Hela will be back at some point. As Rob is so fond of saying - No body, no death.
I’m okay if it looks close enough. But when it doesn’t resemble the comics at all is where I would have a problem. My examples are titans starfire, taskmaster from black widow, mar-vell from captain marvel
Personally I don’t think characters should ALWAYS try to look just like the comics either, but I disagree that the people who would like to see a comic accurate gorr are simply close minded, it’s a perfectly valid wish to want them to at least try to stick to source material because for many the aesthetic aspect is an important part of what those characters are for them. We can talk about the extent of what would be a reasonable discontent reaction without disregarding different opinions.

The real question is why we as comic book fans can't have both. With Thanos we had both. To say it's ok that Gorr isn't in full costume is just settling for what you get.
I mean Thano's helmet in the mcu isn't really comic book accurate. Plus he barely wears it, unlike the comics. But I'm pretty sure you had to look up who Thanos was when he showed up at the end of the first Avengers movie anyway. 🤷

I have to say that the look of the comic book characters do matter. That’s why they do make movie superhero’s and villains look like the comic book characters. They didn’t just paint Josh Brolin in purple paint and call him Thanos. They made him look very similar for a reason. That visual completes the package in my opinion.
We used to not care that the character’s were not comic book accurate when the technology wasn’t there. Now that they have the ability to make them more accurate we expect them to utilize this skill. I’m surprised Rob is not on the fan’s side on this.
I just need to see Thor physically overcome a villain for once. No “lightning tornadoes” or “magical camera tripods” defeating an almost Power Ranger-esque villain at the last minute, just combat. When Hulk ended Abomination with a “cheek clapping” and choke out, it was refreshing moment in an otherwise pedestrian film.
No shot, Lady Thor will 100% save the day. Also saying who cares about how he looks is tone deaf as hell, they're giving you over produced garbage and people keep shilling for it. Just turn of your brain and enjoy it.
I think people are just voicing their thoughts on the aesthetic/character design, the same way they did about Jared Leto’s Joker. The story is separate to the visuals, but visuals are something that people also have opinions on.
As much as I admire your enthusiasm, Rob… I think you are just winding yourself up for a movie that will water down what Gorr is. “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch” is a good saying.
At some point you realize you should be grateful for the comic book movies you get. Us nerds have been in heaven for two decades getting billion dollar storylines played out that we'd only ever dreamed of. For every ten things they get "wrong" it doesn't take away the one big thing that they get right, that they're making these movies in the first place.

I always just looked at it the same way as how characters would get rebooted every few years. It doesn't make Killing Joke any worse when Batman Unburied comes out, you know? Disney is going to milk every last drop and unfortunately they are going to focus group all of these characters into the most saccharine possible versions of themselves. There's a lot of people saying they would have liked to see him look more like the comic but they're excited for the movie. Not sure what's going on lol here but I agree. I'm excited for the movie, but the comic look is cooler. It looks like they're saving it for later in the movie anyways.
I do think the tentacles would look cooler in a fight then having it plain it would just add to it in so many ways… it doesn’t make it a bad movie or hurt it at all but I will say in the comics the tentacles added and helped his character reach the level it did … and in the comics it honestly defined his character in a lot of ways .
This image didn't scare me. This is equivalent to if in the "MCU" - "Thanos" would be in the face of "Josh Brolin" himself without "CGI", on which there would be no points to capture the face... and the problem is that, in this image, there is nothing more than phenomenal, it's just "Christian Bale" in makeup, although not bad (P.s. however, I repeat, just imagine Thanos in the same image :/ ) Honestly, I dreamed of seeing the original image "Gorr the god butcher", and it seems to me that in the original it looks much more terrifying even than what is shown here. And even more so, there are a lot of characters from comics that look creepy and scary. This image gorr the god butcher, is a classic Hannibal type look (This is already a common thing, and therefore it does not seem creepy to me, and it does not scare me). The image must act in such a way that Usually it presses on the cerebral cortex, and affects your psyche (Movie example: Communion 1989) - this is the very feeling that cuts you to the bone, because you do not understand what you are dealing with. And in all this, it is the very image of the character that plays an important degree). However, these images do not always convey the same feeling, it all depends on how exactly the designers and creators fit for this or that image, in this or that film. And as for me, the image of the original "Gorr the Butcher God" could have been made even scarier, and this would not have affected the rating of the film in any way.

My only issue with how Gorr looks is I feel like it wouldn't have been difficult to make it look more like the comical part, because his comic look is amazing! Other than the fact that he had a humanoid body, he looked Alien! A little too human in the live action depiction imo, but end of the day like Rob says, as long as presses Thor proper I'm happy
Yes this! It’s not that I have a problem with it. I just think it’s such a missed opportunity.. it’s not just the nose and tentacles… it’s everything. The way Gorr looks in the comics looks bad ass and with how advance makeup and cgi is. It would of been really cool to see.

Rob…the reason why it works in the comics is because Gorr doesn’t seem human. Now he just seems like a guy who fell into a flour factory that Thor should be able to beat the hell out of. Plus, if he was entirely devoted to the character, he should be committed to the character looking right and not his face being recognizable.
That might be up to the studio to be fair , there’s whole departments for designs and costumes . I highly doubt Christian Bale had that level of pull regarding Gorrs design
why does him not looking human (even though id argue in the comics he looks very human but deformed) make him worse, furthermore, "seem" is a strange use of the word. plenty of humans who don't "seem" human, who people literally call and view as monsters. keep in mind the monster on its own, is boring and dull, the actor enhances the character. makes him likable/dislikeable. shows the characters emotions, and motivations, to make them feel real. to be an interesting character (doomsday from bvs is a great example of not doing this) , like every story ever weather its gods, or anphapamorphic animals, or living toys. The human element is the part you connect to, weather its psychotically evil, heroic, reasonable, or whatever. When i viewed thanos all is saw was a big man, the colour of his skin probably stopped registering 1 hour in, he had all the features of a man, he spoke and acted like a man. and thats part of what make him a great villain. when you watch Shakespearian performances or drama, people heighten the facial expiration, to seem like an evil monstrous character. its very hard t make sth like surter relatable, so my point is, ultimately why does it matter weather all those things are perfectly accurate, as long as its represents the character and those things, and we see him doing similar things to the comics, but with that human element. obviously exceptions are people like Ultron, cos well he's a shiny silver robot. with moving parts, so its difficult to make him look human. and we know the mcu likes their human looking villains, with exceptions when nessasery.
I wished for a comicbook accurate look however its not destroying my hype for this movie. However, I am worried they're going to make him a one off villain which like you said just isn't the comicbook representation we deserve.
What i liked about his original look, wasn't that he had no nose and had tentacles. What I liked is that he was an alien, showing us that its not just earthlings that have a fascination with religion. It made the story truly cosmic. Now that he's human looking, it takes some of that away, even the fact that Greek gods are a part of this, makes it an earth type story. I just wish we had a more cosmic story. Thanos was awesome, because he didn't really feel human. I don't know, I'm just disappointed. But all the rest of the movie looks top notch, so I have hope the great actor that is Bale won't be the weakest part.
My issue with this sentiment is: would you have felt the same if Thanos was just Brolin painted purple at his natural height and build, and not the towering cgi character that we got in the final movie? The reason I want the comic accurate look is because Comic Gorr is so visually striking, and every shot I see of him in this movie is just Christian "Pale." This is also the reason I hate studios forcing in famous actors, since I doubt they would have gone with this design if it was a less recognizable actor in the role.
Thanos's design looks good and should be kept in the movie. But with Gorr?? A Voldemort rip-off with two weird tentacles hanging from his head? I'd say it's an improvement.

Yes. People are only praising this look for Gorr because it’s Christian Bale. When we put that aside, this doesn’t look good. I’m sure the performance will be great but from a character design standpoint, it looks bad atleast to me. It's a valid argument because his original, iconic design includes him looking like an alien. Which includes no nose, tentacles and hints of black on his body/hands. I'm not too mad about Gorr in particular, but I'm just saying, it's a valid argument. Characters are designed to have certain iconic features so they read better visually, so it's understandable that people would want that. It's like Zatanna without saying spells backwards. It can be taken away in movies but she would be less iconic because of it. It's the little things.

I agree, since they somehow got bale to be gorr, I understand that they want to let bale show his acting chops. But he just looks like a normal tribal dude without the tentacles on his head... that's not an alien anymore and that is why I'm not a huge fan of it...

We as a viewer have seen nearly everything from the comics pretty damn close to the comics portrayed. It is what the comic fans enjoy and appreciate. Thanos, Korg, all of the antagonists and protagonists including Ego presented themselves including Gamora and Nebula at a point looked very human, something we identify with, when does the MCU diverge and show a different life closer with tendrils and a difference from a normal human face as a main character? The Living Tribunal has three faces all human. Galactus is different from everyone. Show Gorr the way he is in the comics, show something new and true to the comics. Gorr looks like a Golem creature mixed with the Draenai from WoW but more sinister than Mister Sinister. I think the choice of comic fans has weight. It isn't a book written it is a comic book, illustrations and drawings, the imagery brings weight to the reader therefor the viewer of the movie.
Yes I feel like Rob grossly and massively disrespectfully dismissed people's opinions and put them in a box in that regard. And as somewhat of a champion in the geek community it's hurtful to have him pretty much slapping people in the face that want these billions of dollars of movie making machines to at least try for once. All of the movies follow iron Man 1 2 and 3 still, the superheroes are all presented in a manner which is relative to Captain america, and as of lately if you have a vagina they've been boosting your role and position in the MCU just because that's the conversation that's happening in the world right now. But none of this reflects the people who actually keep the industry going that this stuff gets its sources from, the geeks who read the comics and buy the comics and come online to Rob's page and Benny's page and anybody else who does this and invest hours and days of our lives and these fake worlds just to see it disrespected once it comes time to actually making some money and presenting it to people who don't care about it beyond the screen. I really expected more from Rob hearing how he just pretty much wrote people off as having weird tentacle fetishes or being whiny instead of seeing the insight into people wanting to see some creative expression. But I have always known we don't all always appeal to everybody or think the same self I'm not necessarily mad at his opinion I'm just disappointed that he didn't probably proof watch this and think about it from a different perspective than people being angry.

Seeing that he hasn't failed he could have only grown. There is the option of remaining stagnant but you can't do that for I think a decade is how long he's been doing this give or take a few years and stay at the top. People tend to feel as though someone has conformed her shaking their own core belief for position but that's not necessarily true. If you look at his page he doesn't just break down a character anymore, he has a life blog, he has forms for discussions, of course characters synopsis, but also entire storyline readings, and more. He has grown far beyond what he had started as and it's unfair even if he is being unfair in his wording here to try and paint him as something that he isn't. I think he has largely stay true to at least what I've seen since I started following the page years ago and they disagreement of beliefs won't have me change that

But as far as mcu break downs he's a yes man w no disputes when the mcu pumps bs they could have done better with. We need Gorr to wreck both Jane Foster Thor and Odinson Thor throughout the entire film. And when everything is grim, when all hope seems lost, Thor needs to power up to his Rune King form and need the battle between Gorr The God Butcher and Rune King Thor for the final battle.
I'm hoping that Gorr kills Valkyrie and just as Odinson Thor and Mighty Thor are down and about to be killed Zeus sends a powerful lightning bolt down that completely refuses all the shards of mjolnir back in to one and Thor unleashes his full thor-force power by accepting that he's the true king and new allfather for asgard

i am rooting for him like I did for mysterio to win because peter was given almost everything and was playing super hero on easy level, really messing with his mind till there’s an unforgettable trauma just added over the death of stark would’ve been great… him devastated was a great equalizer but it ended with a pretty good ending… all things considered he did fck him up in no way home but it was too stretched over two movies
And that’s the thing, Thor couldn’t beat his own sister. Got his ass whipped and even admitted he couldn’t beat her, even after he got powered up by his lightning. It took Surtur to beat her when he destroyed Asgard. With that being said, we’ve already seen him “lose.” Mind you, she’s the reason Mjlonir is in the condition it’s in. If Gorr can crush the hammer, (which we have yet to see, because it didn’t happen in the comics) then I’ll look to put him as a threat without the All-Black Necrosword. Other than that, like Rob even mentioned, he’s just an angry alien with no powers whatsoever. 🤷🏽♂️
While it would’ve been great to see him comic accurate, I’m still excited for Gorr either way. Christian Bale playing him should be absolutely amazing. One thing I read that and thought was interesting was the idea that he ends up “transforming” throughout the film until he’s comic-accurate Gorr. It would be essentially departing with his entire race looking the way we know comic Gorr, and making his race more human-like. As he uses the necrosword, he begins losing the more human-centric features. Then near the end, he looks more akin to the Gorr we see in the comics. It would be a very intriguing way of evolving him into the Gorr we’ve come to think of.
Yeah I agree. Still excited either way but I saw a glimpse of his more comic accurate form in that trailer so i think you're right. I'm really hoping they at least get the spirit of Gorr right and make him a bad ass!
With Gorr not looking comic accurate and the Necrosword looking like a regular sword makes me worry Gorr is just going to be the villain of the week instead of the force he truly was.

Man, Rob, I think Gorr looks awesome, but I'm honestly disappointed that he doesn't look like Gorr. Only reason is that we had Voldemort like 10 years ago and Mandalorian (also a Disney property) has accurate Twileks. Head tentacles and all. In my opinion there wasn't any reason for them to not try to make him accurate. Still gonna watch it. It's gonna be awesome.
I hate to say it man, but I disagree. I'm not looking for a reason to be mad, I love this stuff! But when a character as distinct and cool looking as Gorr gets Humanized I get a little salty. When Esad realized Gorrs image he created something special and I was just REALLY hoping to see that on screen. I'm still gonna watch it ten times, but I'll always think he could have looked better.

Here's a Q: Why the hell is are his robes white? They could've at least kept the seemingly-living black robes. Agree with most comments here. Why does he look like an emaciated albinistic human? Would not have been hard to make him look a bit more comic accurate. I feel this is similar to Pedro Pascal pining to have his face shown more. Actors should be known for their performances not how identifiable they are onscreen to their real life appearance.

Personally I don’t think characters should ALWAYS try to look just like the comics either, but I disagree that the people who would like to see a comic accurate gorr are simply close minded, it’s a perfectly valid wish to want them to at least try to stick to source material because for many the aesthetic aspect is an important part of what those characters are for them. We can talk about the extent of what would be a reasonable discontent reaction without disregarding different opinions.

I have to say that the look of the comic book characters do matter. That’s why they do make movie superhero’s and villains look like the comic book characters. They didn’t just paint Josh Brolin in purple paint and call him Thanos. They made him look very similar for a reason. That visual completes the package in my opinion.

I think people are just voicing their thoughts on the aesthetic/character design, the same way they did about Jared Leto’s Joker.
The story is separate to the visuals, but visuals are something that people also have opinions on.
As much as I admire your enthusiasm, Rob… I think you are just winding yourself up for a movie that will water down what Gorr is. “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch” is a good saying.
At some point you realize you should be grateful for the comic book movies you get. Us nerds have been in heaven for two decades getting billion dollar storylines played out that we'd only ever dreamed of. For every ten things they get "wrong" it doesn't take away the one big thing that they get right, that they're making these movies in the first place.

There's a lot of people saying they would have liked to see him look more like the comic but they're excited for the movie. Not sure what's going on lol here but I agree. I'm excited for the movie, but the comic look is cooler. It looks like they're saving it for later in the movie anyways.
I do think the tentacles would look cooler in a fight then having it plain it would just add to it in so many ways… it doesn’t make it a bad movie or hurt it at all but I will say in the comics the tentacles added and helped his character reach the level it did … and in the comics it honestly defined his character in a lot of ways .
My prediction is they’ll do the 3 Thor’s, but I think it’ll be Jane, Odin Son and Beta Ray, which they probably saving him for a reveal.

This is equivalent to if in the "MCU" - "Thanos" would be in the face of "Josh Brolin" himself without "CGI", on which there would be no points to capture the face... and the problem is that, in this image, there is nothing more than phenomenal, it's just "Christian Bale" in makeup, although not bad (P.s. however, I repeat, just imagine Thanos in the same image :/ ) Honestly, I dreamed of seeing the original image "Gorr the god butcher", and it seems to me that in the original it looks much more terrifying even than what is shown here. And even more so, there are a lot of characters from comics that look creepy and scary. This image gorr the god butcher, is a classic Hannibal type look (This is already a common thing, and therefore it does not seem creepy to me, and it does not scare me). The image must act in such a way that Usually it presses on the cerebral cortex, and affects your psyche (Movie example: Communion 1989) - this is the very feeling that cuts you to the bone, because you do not understand what you are dealing with. And in all this, it is the very image of the character that plays an important degree). However, these images do not always convey the same feeling, it all depends on how exactly the designers and creators fit for this or that image, in this or that film. And as for me, the image of the original "Gorr the Butcher God" could have been made even scarier, and this would not have affected the rating of the film in any way.
I only hope they keep Gorr around for a larger arch in multiple films and don’t just kill him off at the end of this!

Rob…the reason why it works in the comics is because Gorr doesn’t seem human. Now he just seems like a guy who fell into a flour factory that Thor should be able to beat the hell out of. Plus, if he was entirely devoted to the character, he should be committed to the character looking right and not his face being recognizable.

why does him not looking human (even though id argue in the comics he looks very human but deformed) make him worse, furthermore, "seem" is a strange use of the word. plenty of humans who don't "seem" human, who people literally call and view as monsters.
keep in mind the monster on its own, is boring and dull, the actor enhances the character. makes him likable/dislikeable. shows the characters emotions, and motivations, to make them feel real. to be an interesting character (doomsday from bvs is a great example of not doing this) , like every story ever weather its gods, or anphapamorphic animals, or living toys. The human element is the part you connect to, weather its psychotically evil, heroic, reasonable, or whatever.
When i viewed thanos all is saw was a big man, the colour of his skin probably stopped registering 1 hour in, he had all the features of a man, he spoke and acted like a man. and thats part of what make him a great villain. when you watch Shakespearian performances or drama, people heighten the facial expiration, to seem like an evil monstrous character. its very hard t make sth like surter relatable, so my point is, ultimately why does it matter weather all those things are perfectly accurate, as long as its represents the character and those things, and we see him doing similar things to the comics, but with that human element. obviously exceptions are people like Ultron, cos well he's a shiny silver robot. with moving parts, so its difficult to make him look human.
and we know the mcu likes their human looking villains, with exceptions when nessasery.

What i liked about his original look, wasn't that he had no nose and had tentacles. What I liked is that he was an alien, showing us that its not just earthlings that have a fascination with religion. It made the story truly cosmic. Now that he's human looking, it takes some of that away, even the fact that Greek gods are a part of this, makes it an earth type story. I just wish we had a more cosmic story. Thanos was awesome, because he didn't really feel human. I don't know, I'm just disappointed. But all the rest of the movie looks top notch, so I have hope the great actor that is Bale won't be the weakest part.

My issue with this sentiment is: would you have felt the same if Thanos was just Brolin painted purple at his natural height and build, and not the towering cgi character that we got in the final movie? The reason I want the comic accurate look is because Comic Gorr is so visually striking, and every shot I see of him in this movie is just Christian "Pale." This is also the reason I hate studios forcing in famous actors, since I doubt they would have gone with this design if it was a less recognizable actor in the role.

It's a valid argument because his original, iconic design includes him looking like an alien. Which includes no nose, tentacles and hints of black on his body/hands. I'm not too mad about Gorr in particular, but I'm just saying, it's a valid argument.
Characters are designed to have certain iconic features so they read better visually, so it's understandable that people would want that. It's like Zatanna without saying spells backwards. It can be taken away in movies but she would be less iconic because of it. It's the little things.

We as a viewer have seen nearly everything from the comics pretty damn close to the comics portrayed. It is what the comic fans enjoy and appreciate. Thanos, Korg, all of the antagonists and protagonists including Ego presented themselves including Gamora and Nebula at a point looked very human, something we identify with, when does the MCU diverge and show a different life closer with tendrils and a difference from a normal human face as a main character? The Living Tribunal has three faces all human. Galactus is different from everyone. Show Gorr the way he is in the comics, show something new and true to the comics. Gorr looks like a Golem creature mixed with the Draenai from WoW but more sinister than Mister Sinister. I think the choice of comic fans has weight. It isn't a book written it is a comic book, illustrations and drawings, the imagery brings weight to the reader therefor the viewer of the movie.

And as somewhat of a champion in the geek community it's hurtful to have him pretty much slapping people in the face that want these billions of dollars of movie making machines to at least try for once. All of the movies follow iron Man 1 2 and 3 still, the superheroes are all presented in a manner which is relative to Captain america, and as of lately if you have a vagina they've been boosting your role and position in the MCU just because that's the conversation that's happening in the world right now. But none of this reflects the people who actually keep the industry going that this stuff gets its sources from, the geeks who read the comics and buy the comics and come online to Rob's page and Benny's page and anybody else who does this and invest hours and days of our lives and these fake worlds just to see it disrespected once it comes time to actually making some money and presenting it to people who don't care about it beyond the screen. I really expected more from Rob hearing how he just pretty much wrote people off as having weird tentacle fetishes or being whiny instead of seeing the insight into people wanting to see some creative expression. But I have always known we don't all always appeal to everybody or think the same self I'm not necessarily mad at his opinion I'm just disappointed that he didn't probably proof watch this and think about it from a different perspective than people being angry.

@@wh0_odat644 well no, I don't think that's fair to say. Once you get a platform and it becomes legitimized and you acquire a fan base you're bound to either grow or fail. Seeing that he hasn't failed he could have only grown. There is the option of remaining stagnant but you can't do that for I think a decade is how long he's been doing this give or take a few years and stay at the top.
People tend to feel as though someone has conformed her shaking their own core belief for position but that's not necessarily true. If you look at his page he doesn't just break down a character anymore, he has a life blog, he has forms for discussions, of course characters synopsis, but also entire storyline readings, and more. He has grown far beyond what he had started as and it's unfair even if he is being unfair in his wording here to try and paint him as something that he isn't. I think he has largely stay true to at least what I've seen since I started following the page years ago and they disagreement of beliefs won't have me change that

But as far as mcu break downs he's a yes man w no disputes when the mcu pumps bs they could have done better with. Just as others pointed out had they spray painted Josh Brolin purple I'm sure he would have called them out on inaccurate depiction. Alot of you guys come off ok w anything mcu pumps out as this point as long as they keep it coming. Btw don't confuse complaing w fans that are passionate. They are a billion dollar company who at this point have the tech to do accurate depictions of these characters. I'm not talking of copy and paste story synopsis but character accuracy.
I don’t know much about Gorr. But I know Kratos and I think that’s why I would love this character. They are so much a like.
We need Gorr to wreck both Jane Foster Thor and Odinson Thor throughout the entire film. And when everything is grim, when all hope seems lost, Thor needs to power up to his Rune King form and need the battle between Gorr The God Butcher and Rune King Thor for the final battle.
I'm hoping that Gorr kills Valkyrie and just as Odinson Thor and Mighty Thor are down and about to be killed Zeus sends a powerful lightning bolt down that completely refuses all the shards of mjolnir back in to one and Thor unleashes his full thor-force power by accepting that he's the true king and new allfather for asgard
I really think they're gonna go with Jane for the win in this film's finale.

To me my first thought was Gorr needed about thirty more pounds of muscles and sharpened teeth for his look alone. I can hand wave aside the nose and tentacles if the acting is good but they humanized him a bit too much here.

i am rooting for him like I did for mysterio to win because peter was given almost everything and was playing super hero on easy level, really messing with his mind till there’s an unforgettable trauma just added over the death of stark would’ve been great… him devastated was a great equalizer but it ended with a pretty good ending… all things considered he did fck him up in no way home but it was too stretched over two movies

It took Surtur to beat her when he destroyed Asgard. With that being said, we’ve already seen him “lose.” Mind you, she’s the reason Mjlonir is in the condition it’s in. If Gorr can crush the hammer, (which we have yet to see, because it didn’t happen in the comics) then I’ll look to put him as a threat without the All-Black Necrosword. Other than that, like Rob even mentioned, he’s just an angry alien with no powers whatsoever. 🤷🏽♂️

While it would’ve been great to see him comic accurate, I’m still excited for Gorr either way. Christian Bale playing him should be absolutely amazing.
One thing I read that and thought was interesting was the idea that he ends up “transforming” throughout the film until he’s comic-accurate Gorr. It would be essentially departing with his entire race looking the way we know comic Gorr, and making his race more human-like. As he uses the necrosword, he begins losing the more human-centric features. Then near the end, he looks more akin to the Gorr we see in the comics. It would be a very intriguing way of evolving him into the Gorr we’ve come to think of.
Yeah I agree. Still excited either way but I saw a glimpse of his more comic accurate form in that trailer so i think you're right. I'm really hoping they at least get the spirit of Gorr right and make him a bad ass!
With Gorr not looking comic accurate and the Necrosword looking like a regular sword makes me worry Gorr is just going to be the villain of the week instead of the force he truly was.

Man, Rob, I think Gorr looks awesome, but I'm honestly disappointed that he doesn't look like Gorr. Only reason is that we had Voldemort like 10 years ago and Mandalorian (also a Disney property) has accurate Twileks. Head tentacles and all. In my opinion there wasn't any reason for them to not try to make him accurate. Still gonna watch it. It's gonna be awesome.

I hate to say it man, but I disagree. I'm not looking for a reason to be mad, I love this stuff! But when a character as distinct and cool looking as Gorr gets Humanized I get a little salty. When Esad realized Gorrs image he created something special and I was just REALLY hoping to see that on screen. I'm still gonna watch it ten times, but I'll always think he could have looked better.

"Not exactly comic book accurate" - it's not even in the same ballpark as the original design. The design was iconic. They did character designs that at least *tried* to be close to the characters in past entries, but here they didn't even try!

Here's a Q: Why the hell is are his robes white? They could've at least kept the seemingly-living black robes. Agree with most comments here. Why does he look like an emaciated albinistic human? Would not have been hard to make him look a bit more comic accurate. I feel this is similar to Pedro Pascal pining to have his face shown more. Actors should be known for their performances not how identifiable they are onscreen to their real life appearance.
