- She-Hulk has arrived! Yesterday Disney released the first She-Hulk trailer and the internet is humming again after seeing the first glimpse of a fully realized Jennifer Walters She-Hulk! In today's video, "We Need To Talk About She-Hulk", I go over the first She-Hulk trailer and give my thoughts on how I feel about the character of She-Hulk in general and how I think the show will do in regards to portraying her! Probably unpopular opinion: She isn’t muscular enough. She looks like a slightly taller Gamorra. I know, not everyone likes „muscle Girls“, but She is a Hulk nontheless

The CGI in the trailer is probably not how the finished product is going to look like.
Its cool that we get these smaller scale MCU shows to hold us over in between the big budget movies. Its getting to a point were there's not much down time between each project which is great as a Marvel fan.

I wish they leaned more into the muscular side if she hulk, she has muscle and grows but she doesn’t really feel anywhere near hulk; even though their “mutation” is functionally the same

We do. There is a tie in comic for the Avengers movie I think. You see him running around being crazy and Black Widow shoots him in the knees

She's just big, same goes for Hulk hes the OG and you dont see him leaping around at 6% body fat with chiseled abs, I think people just find things they dislike and never let it go. As you said It's a CGI body so get over it.
The She-Hulk CGI is roughly on the same level as the Hulk CGI. It just stands out much more because she's much closer to normal human proportions, which trips the uncanny valley much easier. With Hulk, you already suspend your disbelief quite a bit by default to accept that mountain of green muscle existing - so the small imperfections don't trigger the "that's not how humans work" reaction quite as much...
Nah, not buying that. We've seen CGI of characters in movies and shows that look more "human" and didn't look this bad.
Pretty sure the CG is just because its the first trailer and still in the process of being 'polished'. The Hulk & Abomination already have multiple fully rendered models that have been used so it makes sense they have such better looking models. I am hoping Jennifer gets a bit beefed up tho in the process of them putting the finishing touches on. Definitely excited to see where this goes
Doubt it. These shows are usually complete by the time they show these trailers. They aren't like video games.

I love Rob’s jab at black bolt every time. I want this to be a gimmick lmao
as someone with a background in digital effects, and cg... The CG isn't done. This isn't half-assed, it's just not all the lightning passes, etc. You can watch the outfits, and it looks like the matrix 2 coats in the agent fights, smooth and devoid of detail: lightning passes, and i know this sounds unbelieavable: fix that. Because lighting will add subsurface scattering, details will get picked up, etc.
Generally speaking nowadays if money is behind something and the cg looks smooth before release: it's because it's not finished yet. These effects can really, and I'm not joking, be going out the door right up until the last minute. I think at this point Disney+ has proven they aren't going to sleep on effects after so many great shows, remember Vision was CG 90% of the time.
That being said: they nailed the spirit of She-Hulk in this trailer. I'm excited.
I'm pretty hyped for the show myself, unpolished cgi notwithstanding. Could they fix the obvious issues between now and the release date? Would it be enough time?
@@alwaystired9203 easily, remember the wolverine early release was a similar distance and had vastly less finished on it. Every hour those server farms are spinning and a render tech is marking errors, while staff rush to resolve them. Most of these passes I talk about may already be finished, just not rendered in time.
@@GearType2 That's reassuring. We just need to be patient, and they just need to focus, and completely avoid all social media platforms. They turned into dumpster fires when this trailer was released.
The CGI definitely needs work but the tone is spot on. I'm super excited for this.
A few years ago I was really fascinated by the classic Hulk Stories like World War Hulk and the more mature tune like the psychological distress of having the hulk persona. I was interested in how they translate those to the movies. But since Thor 3 the Hulk is turned from a monster in to a goofy character who doesn't even fight Thanos in Endgame. Now his cousine is a funny lawyer with a big mouth who has mastered the control over the Hulk at first try.
I wonder if we will ever see a serious Hulk Rampage like in the golden days of Avengers 1 from now on.
No, I'm pretty sure they are afraid (perhaps rightfully so) of showing a fully powered hulk because he eclipses everything except the big celestials. Since Planet Hulk was basically converted into Thor: Ragnarok, I lost all hope of a cool Hulk story.
They turned Hulk into a beta cuck lord. Made the strongest character a wussy who doesn’t want to fight and just likes to crack jokes. Even in hulk version he looks weak scared to fight it’s so weird
But wasn’t she already like that in the comics. Power of hulk with control thus she’s weaker
the Titania in the trailer doesn't look like Mary McPherson/Secret Wars Titania. Looks much more like a pro-wrestling costume, so is the Titania (aka Lascivious) from the Grapplers supervillain group? Is that how we're going to get Songbird/Screaming Mimi in the MCU finally?

Could be a fusion of both, Marvel's done that a couple times in the shows already, Sylvie from the Loki show is a fusion of Lady Loki and Sylvie Lushton/Enchantress II, and Layla in Moon Knight is a fusion of Marlene and Scarlet Scarab, so this Titania could be a fusion of both Titania's.
She wasn’t wearing a costume in the trailer, she was wearing regular clothing
The Incredible Hulk is so underrated. Probably the most overlooked MCU movie. Abomination and General Ross are great villains, and Hulk is so sympathetic. Great movie, hope Feige fixes Hulk.
He won't he's the reason why Hulk KS trash now since Age of Ultron.
I remember watching it in theaters when I was about 9… definitely an overhated film!
I felt this way about the CGI in MoonKnight tho too. I wish the suit could of been more so practically be used. More so the Marc Spector costume.
100% agree Rob 👍 this reminds me so much of the 2005 -2009 she hulk run that I love, idk why some people think she needs to be ridiculously buff, they nailed the comic depiction
I truly don't understand why people want her to look like young Arnold Schwarzenegger, I think she looks great as is. like she stepped out of the pages of John Byrne's run

One of the images you used for Titania was actually Thundra, who came from Earth 715 but made her way to Earth 616.

The hard thing about She Hulk is she is supposed to be more human looking than the Hulk. The Hulk isn’t supposed to look human, that makes his CG easier to do.
The more human a character looks the more difficult it is to cross the uncanny valley. The more familiar the object of the CG is the more our brains pick up on the inconsistencies. The really alien characters look better because our brains don’t have a reference.
i wonder if painting an actress green would've look better, like with Gamora. Just have 2 actress, one for human Jennifer and a tall muscular one for She-Hulk

I think the cgi looks good, don’t know what people are so disappointed about. Looks the exact same quality as hulk and abomination to me. Like the OP said, it’s probably solely due to her having to look more human than the other 2

I think it has more to do with Hulks face is modeled after Mark bit her Hulk form looks NOTHING like her.

I'm most excited to see Abomination again, especially with Tim Roth's return, because I love The Incredible Hulk (2008). I hope they explain why he can transform back into human form. And I really hope they do improve She-Hulk's CGI because it'll be very distracting if Abomination and Hulk go on to look so much better than she does in her own show. The show looks promising overall.

The hulk is literally their most expensive character to make. I'm guessing it's the same with She-Hulk.
It's either the same with She-Hulk, or the differences are because they don't want it to be that expensive.
I do think there'll be 4th wall breaking in the show, but I don't think it'll be the same way Deadpool does it. In other words I don't think she'll just stop what she's doing and talk to the camera, I'm thinking it'll be more a 4th wall break in like a voiceover/narration style. Maybe something like in one scene she's told to go see Abomination, and then the next scene is her walking to the prison that houses Abomination and we get a voiceover of her talking about like who Abomination is and why he's important and stuff (maybe some cuts of some Abomination scenes or whatever) but we only hear her voice during that part and she isn't talking to the camera or whatever.
I just want to say I love comics explained and I just found this channel and I’m really happy to see the same passion of comics to the mcu
I'm glad they remembered what a trailer is. Tired of getting an entire episode of spoilers in the trailer to the point where you hardly even need to watch the movie/show.
I do like that they seem to have Jenn and her whole attitude in the early days regarding being She-Hulk down. Will be interesting to see how far along in her timeline they jump before really giving us her origin.
One nitpick, they need to tighten up the CG,
I've been looking forward to this one. And hopefully they don't screw this one up like they did the end of Luke Cage and all of Iron Fist.

We need to talk about Ant-man. I know everyone didn't like the movies, but everyone is theorizing about Kang while skipping over the fact that Ant-man/Wasp will be the first Marvel characters to encounter him.

The CGI distracted me so bad. Her face is cgi too which is a very odd choice. I liked the comics a lot. She hulk was the few cool marvel characters for us ladies in the 80s!!

Yeah, the CGI was rough, but I'm still hyped. I'm sure they'll polish it a bit. As long as the writing and characters are solid, I can overlook a lot.

The CGI is very, very questionable. This is Marvel/Disney we are talking about, and this is what we're getting? this is the best that they can come up with? There are fan made trailers that are better than this. They necessarily don't need the CGI, they can hire a tall woman who can act.
I've seen far worse from feature *films* these days, so I think the CGI is perfectly fine here.

I don't care as much about the cgi as the writing. When she-hulk says "those are like the main foundation of being a woman" (Bruce's anger and fear line) and "Bruce it feels like I'm gonna die if I don't transform." Those just kinda take all the tension out of a scene for me for a cheap laugh
@@thephilosopher7173 And I agree. Many shows on TV, cable, and Streaming get expanded budgets and what not as the series progress, especially on network TV where advertising rates they can charge for that show dictate the budget they get.

I loved the trailer as well and I am sure the CGI will be fixed by the time the show airs.
This is Disney, they wouldn't have shown us the trailer if that wasn't the final cut of the CGI. Now, if the backlash was really strong like it was when the first Sonic the Hedgehog trailer came out then I could see them redoing it, but otherwise what we saw is what we are going to get.

The incredible Hulk movie was so good. I love edwards version of hulk waaayyyy more then I love marks. Edwards version of hulk would give you straight hands compared to marks hulk who just rips and tears shif apart. Even my favorite scene thru out that whole movie was when Edward's hulk torn apart the police car and used the split car as boxing gloves, and gave abomination straight hands. Edward's hulk just hits do different to me. I wish he becomes a variant of the hulk in the future to be honest.
That's what I've been saying for years, the movie is flawed yes (and early MCU was what it was at that moment) but they nailed the Hulk and Norton played him very well. He was that massive angry beast that nothing could stop. Even his design was raw and menacing, his facial expression depicted his anger and power very efficiently
Ruffalo's Hulk had his good moments but overall became quite lame as time passed imo

I think the reason the sgi looks edgy at points is because they’ve tried to keep she hulk feminine and attractive and it looks strange in comparison to the hulk we are used to seeing

Yooo took a comic book college class at ASU in 2019 and did a comic report on She-Hulk before any show announcement. Pretty much all that was mentioned on 4th wall breaking, a female superhero that didn't need a guy's saving, the balance of sexual, comedy and action in her runs! I was mentioning she needs a show around her being a lawyer, which would give a different approach than just action superhero movies! Glad I was able to get her 1st appearance for $10 before she blew up

The CG will be cleaned up by the time it is released in 4 months. It looks like they have issues with the texture and bump maps and might need to deal with some shadow issues. They will be doing post production work on the CG right up to the release.
Huh no lol trailer would of been made a year ago and the show finnished months ago with editing
@@daniell5740 They only wrapped filming 9 months ago; They started filming a year ago. For Wandavision they were still doing post-production and render work while episodes were airing. CG isn't magic it takes time and it isn't fast.

What did they do for gamora? Didn't they just paint her instead of CGI, could they not do that for she Hulk? I just don't see the need to use CG if there's a cheaper, better looking option?
Her physique and size changes so paint isn’t really an option. It could help though, probably, and is probably being used to some degree.

I think they should just keep doing what if style cartoons for this type of show with the real star voices when they can. They're able to do much crazier stuff that's interconnected without it looking cheesy or cheap.

The Hulk mythos has some really cool and interesting characters and ideas that we've seen almost next to nothing. Hell, in the context of the MCU, we barely know anything about Ruffalo's Hulk and Banner and he's been in the MCU for over a decade. No Betty Ross, no Rick Jones, and a little bit of General Ross which leads me to think that HAS to be building to Red Hulk, which tells me they might bring back the Leader if they do.
Hopefully this is a good first step into giving us more Hulk in the MCU. The writers have admitted in the past they just don't know how to write Hulk so I'm hoping this show has some decent writing behind it
I wonder if they try to incorporate The Leader (I think that's right) in an end episode or scene. I also hope they take the necessary character development steps to flesh her out thoroughly. If they do, I'll forgive the CGI adjustment.

The show looks great and like a lot of fun. I’m excited to see Jen and Blonsky. Also pumped to see Daredevil and Hulk. I think there’s still a good opportunity to do world breaker hulk in the future. As for the CGI, it looks fine and I’m positive it will improve before it comes out.

I can see the CGI cost becoming an issue ... heard it was 9 episodes long and that would put it at at least a 4.5 hour show (If each episode is at least 30 min).. that's a lot of CGI with 3 different hulks being in this show potentially

I dont think Abomination will even be a villain in the traditional sense. I think the things he has done with Wong have allowed him to be put up for parole and She Hulk will be his lawyer.
