For offering design ingenuity and originality I feel this release is on a Christopher Ward level, another brand who think out the box with design. To see this from a "budget" brand with heritage is refreshing and hopefully the blue print for Timex moving forward, great video mate!
Well said! I totally agree, they're definitely headed in the right direction and super excited for what's to come from Timex. Appreciate you watching bud 😊🍻
It's refreshing to see a glimpse of the watchmaking process from a company that actually designs and builds their watches. Seriously, a real setting with some real inspiration. This is what MVMT and the squad want to impress upon us. Timex actually embodies the vibe. Maybe they'll hit a home run next time. 👊🏾 Great video!
Really nice review and attention to detail. I like it and not as bad as you mentioned. I can live with it if tick for long term. My GS also make noise when spinning it lol. Thank you so much for sharing. Cheers.
Wayne!!! Brotha, appreciate you watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. Rotor noise, is a big no for me lol but I know others can care less. I'm difficult I guess 😂😂
I've got a Junkers with rotor noise. It bothered me and feels cheap at first, like a toy out of a Crackerjacks box, but I eventually got used to it, and even liked it. It's like the watch speaking to you.
Amazing production quality brother! Its a really cool piece no doubt, def gonna wait for the hype to die down a bit for me and hopefully I can snag one someday. I've said it before, that jewel peaking out is like a little belly button I just want to tickle lmao, its weird. Agreed with you on some of those cons, flat sapphire would have been perfect, that lack of lume and 50M WR for $450...ugh. We all want Timex to just knock one out of the park. A screw down crown would actually be preferred since there is a lack of crown guards imo. Great vid bro, as usual! 😎🍻👍
Tudor bro!!!!! Man truly appreciate you watching! Means a lot. Love I can count on your support and honest feedback. Lol I die, everytime you call it a belly button 😂😂. It's truly a good watch, and you're 100% correct. I think most watch nerds are truly rooting for Timex . They're definitely getting closer.
This is a beautiful looking watch I have to agree with you on the cons though, the dust/scratch under the crystal seems to be a pretty common problem I've had that on Seikos too. The Miyota 9 series is a great movement but its about time they did something about thier Rotor spin. Great in depth review man.👍
Adrian!!! Thank you so much for stopping by and watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. I'm also glad to hear I'm not going crazy lol. Honestly, sometimes it's the small stuff that has a huge! Impact on our perspective on things like a watch. Overall, great design. But the execution needs a little tuning 😉
Absolutely loved the review and (sorry I’m a year or two late but) I’m wondering where you got the leather strap from that was shown in a few shots?? I am looking for a similar style but in brown. Thanks so much!! 😜😃
Thank you for this video. I love the watch... but thanks a lot for pointing it out the hands... they needed to be thicker. Now I see it can't unsee it. And that is the problem. I can exchange the watch for dust issues and get another one, but can't send it back for the hand because it is what it is. But thanks.
Oh man 😂 I'm so sorry for ruining it for you. I try to be honest with my thoughts, maybe too honest sometimes. Truly appreciate you watching and I hope you enjoyed the video a bit 😊🍻
Great video Today is 6/11/24 I’m just browsing reviews because I just got the Giorgio Galli limited edition S1 that I bought from someone. It was the only one I found for sale in many different websites and apps. I just found out about this watch like a couple weeks ago, so when I went on Timex website and saw it “sold out” I was sad and started looking for it on resell. I feel very fortunate to have found one for sale a year plus later. The watch is amazing and will not be selling it. The gold and black looks amazing. I wish I could past pics to show.
Love the Timex!!! It’s a beautiful watch bro, and hey at least you didn’t get a bar of soap haha. 38 is a little to small for me, I’m a 40 min for sure ideally. To be fair, Timex has never really been know for Lume, and this being a dress watch it is forgiveable imo, don’t put it on though if you don’t get it right though for sure, indiglo baby, but that wouldn’t go good with this one either. This is a fantastic watch!!! The grey dial doesn’t help with the legibility off that double dome, I found that in another watch, grey doesn’t work well with domed crystals for sure, so yeah flat would have been better. I see your point about the hands too but it doesn’t put me off. Excellent review m8 some very good points!!
😂😂😂 I'm dying bro!!! Yeah, thankfully it wasn't Irish spring I got lol. I still can't believe that happened!!! Unreal! But!! Glad you got it taken care of. As for the watch, overall don't get me wrong it's a cool and good watch. I'm maybe just too picky and a bit harder on timex because I'm rooting for them 🙌. Great platform! Excited to see what's to come from them. And your point on the Grey dial, spot on. Yet, these are the little things they missed or lost sight on 😉👊
Thank you for watching 😊👊. It truly is a beautiful piece, they killed It when it comes to design. And 100m should be the standard in my opinion. Thanks again for the support.
Great review man! Completely agree with you on the hands. Too skinny, or at the very least, could use more lume to improve readability. The one thing I disagree is the rotor wobbling. I like it. The feedback lets you know it's a mechanical watch, this little contraption that uses springs and gears. I'm also biased because it's my first automatic, so the novelty makes it unique. And you said it perfectly! The case design, and the little things like matching cut-out markers and strap, makes it more than just a regular watch. It's a "Designer" item, you know what i mean? not in a literal sense but in a, "Yeah, we went above and beyond!" way. Originality isn't always a good thing, but when done right, it just puts in a league of its own. I have the white dial version so glare's not as bad. It's been holding up well for a year now at +6 seconds. Usually wear it once I get home from work or when we go out somewhere.
Any movement that winds in one direction should be abolished from the watch world. The whole point of an automatic is to be wound by wrist movement. Why wouldn’t you maximize that and use bidirectional winding. Blows my mind that they were ever created in the first place. Like a car that has forward gears but no reverse.
I have this watch. Personally I’ve always seen this watch as a dress watch, although the strap says otherwise. I personally don’t need the lume or extra water resistance if I’m gonna wear it to cocktail hour. I switched my strap out with a crocodile, black leather strap and it makes more sense….to me. My only real gripe with this watch is the movement which yes was a cost cutting effort, but Timex could have added a better movement here to really push it over the edge. All things considered, I really like this watch. Good review.
I think a lot of the cons go away if you are not considering it a sports watch (I’m not sure that is how they are marketing it). As a watch that leans more dressy, small hands, no lume, 50m wr are all totally acceptable. The rubber strap is fairly dressy too on this model particularly at 18mm width (oddly enough i dont like the strap). The cutouts and case detail to me already say it is not a sports watch since that would catch water and grime easily. I have no issue with rotor noise. I love being reminded that I have a machine on my wrist. The noise is unnoticeable with normal wear. I wore this thing for over a week before seeing reviews and had no idea it was any different than other watches I have. Great review though, if they want to make a sports watch, I think your cons are spot on. Dust is unacceptable, hopefully they improve their QC.
Garrett, truly appreciate you watching. You make some good points. I also think timex is a bit confused on how they're marketing this piece in all honesty lol. A dress watch by definition would be slimmer, no lume watch, and probably in the 36-37mm range. But they clearly have both design languages in one piece. Doesn't help the discussion, by giving us a rubber strap. This only makes the discussion of this being more of a dress piece harder to understand. In my opinion, with all these specs and design aspects they put into this watch. I feel they were trying to market this as more of a sport watch. An all day, do everything piece. But again I may be blind and wrong ha ha. Truly appreciate your comment. Some good dialogue around this one. Overall, it's a good piece and timex is headed in the right direction.
It’s so close indeed. Those too thin hands stand out as the main issue-I’d bin the lume entirely and go the GS route with sharper bevelled hands if that was possible. Dust is a no go-shouldn’t have left HODINKEE let alone Timex like that. Thanks for the review, agree it’s sooooo close.
i do not agree with the lume sandwich in the indices. it might give it a green hue which looks weird in my opinion. however great review and congrats on the awesome watch.
😂😂 Oh man! Lol sorry about that. Had no clue, I'll make sure to turn down the volume on those beeps or put a warning lol. Appreciate you watching if you hung in there 👊😊
This watch should have been perfect if the body is solid with sandblasted surface. I don't like shinny steel. Should have been dotted loomed hour indicators.
Double dome crystal will not have any reflextion if top and bottom side of crystal have ar coating.Everyone agrees that Citizen Chronomaster has the best ar coating on the market,it's so insane that I even sometimes think I can touch the dial with my hands and they use domed and double domed crystal.
I feel like Timex is killin it - as far as the direction they are going w/ pieces like the, the Marlins, etc. UGH! Stuff INSIDE the crystal is the worst! My Everest had a smudge on the inside of the crystal, drove me so nuts, I sent it in to a repair shop and paid to have it cleaned. lol I love how conversational your reviews are! o/
What's up bud!! Thank you so much for watching me rant lol. Means a lot. Hope you enjoyed it. And it most definitely sucked seeing dust under the crystal. My eye just goes straight to it lol. I thought about cleaning it myself or taking it in. I just feel for the price we shouldn't have to.
I agree on the crystal - flat... or maaybe even a box (Love me some box crystals lol), that would do some fun things around the edge of the crystal :) --- Ooooo wait - maybe a flat w/ a bevelled edge... there - that would be spot on!
