Steel cut oats, in particular, contain a soluble fiber made up of beta glucans. Beta glucans form a unique gel-like substance when dissolved in water, and it is this substance that is thought to lower blood cholesterol levels as well as stabilize blood sugar levels
Steel cut oats are particularly rich in resistant starch and fiber, both of which may support weight loss, heart health, blood sugar control, and digestion. They're also a good source of iron and plant protein.
In clinical studies, particularly the “gold standard” of randomized clinical trials having a control group, WFPB diets have been repeatedly shown to reverse severe heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and obesity. Go Whole Foods Plant Based No oil/sugar/salt. I follow Joel Furhman/Mike McGreger/Esselstyn for good health and my goal is to stay out of the hospital and nursing home as I age.
Now for my daily breakfast overnight steel cut oats after having fasted for 14 hours. First meal at 7 am and last meal at 4 pm.
      All organic:
      1 cup Unsweetened soy milk
4 tablespoons of steel cut oats
      Heavy sprinkles of cinnamon
      2 tablespoons of hemp seeds
2 tablespoons of ground chia seeds
2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds
      7 walnuts
1/2 cup of wild blue berries (I change up my berries)
1/2 cup of overcooked mixed lentils (red/black/green)

      I enjoy my G-BOMBS consistently.

I put two wheatbix in a bowl, a tablespoon of chia seeds and a tablespoon of Psyllium. I add some sliced peaches in natural juice, half a medium banana cut up, low fat milk and microwave for two minutes and ten seconds. I let it rest for about two minutes then stir it and add some more cold low fat milk so it isn't too stodgy. Then I eat it. Have been doing this breakfast for over ten years, At 76 my doctor has me as in excellent health. So not going to change it.

The important point is that chia should be soaked in water for fews hours and preferably over night to allow them to expand outside your body to actual size before eating them to avoid problems to gastrointestinal tract or choking .

Even spoonfuls dry wouldn't really be a problem unless you don't swallow and use more water if need be. Most people are naturally going to wet them somehow because they're more palatable that way. Most of these warnings seem to be related to people who have medical issues already.
