I like keeping it simple. Unsweetened almond milk, chia seeds, protein powder, and lots of cinnamon. I'll shake it up in my blender bottle ( because protein powder is hard to mix sometimes) and then pour into a serving size and stick it in the fridge for a bit. I think my favorite is chocolate almond milk and chocolate protein powder. That chocolate cinnamon flavor is very nice!
if you make your own granola (super easy) oats pumpkin seeds sunflower seeds almonds maple syrup oil vanilla extract cinnamon salt then it's a great healthy topping for chia seed pudding
i do my chia pudding always the same way: - chia seeds, flax seeds, unsweetened almond milk and peanut butter the healthy fats presented in the flax seeds and peanut butter, as well as the protein makes me full for longer, i eat it early in the morning even if im not hungry at all and it keeps me full until lunch and sometimes im not even hungry. you should eat even if you're not hungry, the principal meals, because if you dont you can lower your metabolism causing even more difficult weight loss. eat healthy, do exercise, be happy 😇🌺

Mistake #1 is not grinding the chia seeds first. When you don't grind them you get almost none of the omega-3 or protein content, and only get the insoluble fiber benefit of chia seeds. So, either grind them or use the pre-ground form.
I'd start with a video by Dr. Greger: search for "grind your chia seeds" on the nutritionfacts website. It cites several studies. The bottom line is that both flax and chia seeds need to be ground before being eaten to benefit from the omega-3 content. Chia seeds will still give you some nutrients if merely soaked, but the outer hull of a flaxseed will prevent any benefit unless you happen to chew them!
@@lauras4472 I stand by my statement. Even chia seeds have to be ground to get the omega-3 fat benefit. Unsweetened Coconut milk (1/2 gallon in milk carton section) is perfect. I use macadamia nut butter, cinnamon and blueberries for soft, coconut smiles, toasted pecans or pistachios for crunch. No sweetener necessary!

Everyone downs honey and maple syrup, They're both natural sweetners. Honey doesn't raise blood sugar as quickly as quickly as white sugar, it's good for gut health, and has many other benefits. It just needs to be used like every other sweetener, in moderation. I use 1tsp of honey for 1 large cup of chia pudding.
I usually add 1 cup of almond milk. 2 teaspoons of Maple syrup. (But next time I'll add monk or stevia sugar 1 packet) 1/2 cup of chia seeds, drizzle almond butter and bananas or blueberry/ strawberry as topics.

I am new to the whole UA-cam world, especially those channels that cover helpful information like health, nutrition, keto and recipes. Your channel is amazing because the information you put out there is backed by scientific fact and explains in layman’s terms what exactly s happening inside the body and how certain recipes work towards achieving your goals while others keep you in a state of confusion causing you to make the same mistakes over and over until ultimately quitting, therefore being stuck in the same rut you started in. Not this time!!! I’ve watched sooooo many of your videos over and over again and am so grateful for them. Your chia seed base recipe is brilliant. Be reasonable. If you listen to someone with the same credentials they give different recommendations. They are consistently citing studies and what does that have to do with their credentials?? Be honest, she doesn't look healthy at all. She looks unwell.
I do agree with everything she is saying but portion is key if u are being carful you will be okay health and nutrition are extremely important but you also have to be realistic and have a balance to make sure h r getting enough to eat it is extremely hard to find affordable food without added sugars and just because it has sugars doesn’t mean it decreases the nutrients
If your losing weight, calorie control is key, not necessarily portion. Sugar turns into calories so that’s why she is saying these are mistakes if your using chia pudding to lose weight. She’s not saying you can’t have any sugar, just giving ways to decrease that amount to maximize weight loss
As a Vegan, I love my maple syrup but I do limit it to a tablespoon just t give a little sweetness. I make my own granola and avoid added sugars but I do add again a tablespoon of maple syrup. I prepare all of my foods from fresh ingredients so I know what's in them a I agree, they can be pretty sneaky in their labeling.
You can use low carb granola like the Keto Hana granola that is so delicious and using a small amount natural sweeteners. Or you can make your own home made no sugar granola.
Hi Autumn, I was 216 the 7th of December 2022 today I'm 190.2! I was 187.6 Last Saturday 22 April 2023. I saw a recipe for chia pudduing and like you said i added maplr Syrup and made it with Almond milk as per the recipe! Well 3 days later big downer, I'm back up to 190.2 in 3 days! I'm so glad I saw your video as I'm going to use your recommendation not to use maple syrup and not use Almond milk either! Thanks for this video it probably saved a depression .. ok just kidding but I could not understand why I started gaining weight. Mark from Montreal Canada
Water weight is a big factor. Carbs make your body hold water. Look it up. Maple syrup isn’t going to make you gain weight. It’s your over all caloric intake that will make you gain weight
I think none of these are “mistakes” per se. Honey is good for you. We should eat whole grain plant based so if you make a good healthy granola you should be fine. I don’t think maple syrup is bad for you either as well as agave or coconut syrup. I just think sometimes people listen to these types of video and be like we doing it wrong, let’s stop eating honey granola etc. no. Just watch your sugar consumption try to eat healthy sweeteners every now and again and be well. Just my opinion
I think this video is in the context of weight loss strategies. I do not use granola healthy or other wise I use Oats I use nuts I use fruit to add flavour as suggested. It is all good advice. I use brown sugar in my oatmeal a small amount I have used maple syrup again a small amount. As I have been off a lot of sweets(used to be my go to snack) I find I do not need as much of a sweetener because I sense the sweetness much more and it is great. There never used to be too sweet for me a few months ago except perhaps baklava.
I use 1 cup unsweetened almond milk one teaspoon hemp one teaspoon cinnamon one 1/2 teaspoon flax meal and 3 tablespoon chia, 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup. Finally, I top with coconut flakes unsweetened & blueberries 🫐
Hey I have a chia pudding question. What’s a “serving” if it’s chia coconut milk and vanilla with a bit of raspberry? How much raspberries or berries is a serving
@Bitterman She’s asking what is the recommended serving for a recipe that contains -coconut milk-, vanilla, chia and a bit of raspberry, she wasn’t only asking for the serving of raspberries lmao. Coconut milk is fatty, yes, but it taste hella good, she prob knows it’s fatty and is asking the recommended serving size so she doesn’t gain to much weight from consuming it.
Inulin is my favourite sweetener. Its just a water soluble fiber. I'm going to start adding it to all my recipes. I use xylitol for my sweetener, studies show it helps with wrinkles/aging.
This is awesome! I've always loved the look of chia puddings but I no longer eat sugar and have held off making these because many recipes call for granola or honey ect. I'm doing this tomorrow!!!!

Thanks for explaining the Diabetic Pitfalls of an "Innocent Pudding." My friends don't understand why I won't use Honey, Agave, Granola or other "Clean Foods" since they are not dealing with Diabetes. Adding Clean Fats is incredibly helpful.
This is a good video but something important to note is that the order of ingredients is by weight specifically. 1 tablespoon of sweetener might weigh slightly more than 2 tablespoons of chia seeds. In common DIY recipes for Chia pudding you see something like 2 tbsp of chia seeds, 1 tbsp of honey, 1/3 cup milk. By weight the ingredient list for that could still be "Milk, Honey, Chia Seeds." (Some sources for volume -> weight conversion disagree but that's why we're going with "could" and "might" in the wording here.)
Good evening autumn, I have been using whey protein isolate collagen peptides in chia seeds in my shaker. It fills me up I thought the science would say that's what you need but today I was listening to someone that said whey protein powder it's like insulin so if you eat it with any fats it dumps those fats into your cells. That makes me wonder if I'm making things harder on myself by adding the Chia seed fat to my whey protein shake. If you have any information that you like to share I'd appreciate it thank you. I love you videos
Wow thank you I started eating chia seed pudding the other day & I did it wrong I guess it taste good but I am a type 2 diabetic so now I know thank you
So here's what I need. I get you to come to my house every day, you tell me what to eat, and when to eat it. Also, since I don't tend to trust kindness, could you maybe call me fatty as you tell me what to do? Obviously I kid, but I really do have a tough time with impulse control, so I end up snacking, or adding things to my food that ruin the good I am trying to do.
Yes, it’s amazing stuff. Chia seeds + coconut milk + cinnamon + cacao + a dash of sweetener. Sometimes we throw in some blueberries too, it’s amazing stuff and it’s very filling as well.
My two teens who hate everything would tell you “Yes!”. We prepare like Game Probe comment above but also add in golden granulated monk fruit to sweeten, vanilla extract and cardamom. To top it, a dash of whole made whipped cream (sweetened with monk fruit drops so cream isn’t grainy) and a couple raspberries not blueberries for us! It’s so easy and yummy. If you prefer a more tapioca vibe put in a package of drained Miracle Rice too.
Tree bark is a great alternative with chia too to keep you full. 😂. Couldn’t help myself. I agree we eat and drink a lot of things that can add to weight gain but generally if we are eating healthy, exercising, intermittent fasting, can’t we indulge once in a while.
Just found your channel today and had just made chocolate chia pudding and although the recipe did not call for Greek yogurt I added 3/4 cup and I switched out the maple syrup for monkfruit sugar. It was nice to hear that this was a good thing to increase the protein. Really enjoying your videos and nutritional information. ❤
I tried this recipe and I really appreciate the unique way you prepared it! The insights about chia pudding mistakes were quite informative. In my personal experience, making sure to soak the chia seeds properly and not adding too much sweetener made a big difference in the texture and taste of the pudding. One more thing, I used True Elements Chia Seeds, and they worked perfectly in this recipe. Thank you for sharing such helpful tips and a delicious recipe!
Really the mistakes are too much sugar or/and not enough protein and fat. I think ultimately we need to know how much macros we put in our mouth aka knowing what exactly you’re eating aka read all the freaking labels lol
Propass protein powder is only 30 kcal per scoop and it tastes neutral, a bit like milk powder but more neutral. If anyone ever want it lol it also makes whatever you mix with it slightly more thick or creamy
Really appreciate these videos- spreading the truth on what healthy/clean eating really is and how these little things interact with your body you’re awesome 🌹
Ok but if you've ever seen Abby's Kitchen, you'll know that there's a huge difference between added sugar and natural sugar, and natural sugar breaks down differently than added sugar aka table sugar.

At one of my meetings with Autumn, she pointed out that I was putting way tooooo much dried fruit (loads of sugar) on my chia pudding. Now I only use fresh fruit and nuts. Thanks Autumn! 😊
Another good point! Thanks for sharing :)
How much dried fruit is too much ? Do you have a measure ?
I’m dairy-free and I like to do:
White chia seeds
Splenda
A splash of vanilla extract
Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Topped with fresh a few blackberries
However, I notice that it swells better in some milk than other. It swelled best in rice milk but rice milk has too many calories for snack. Any ideas?
Maybe swell it in water first, then add the milk later on.
Only thing I see wrong here is the Splenda. That stuff is toxic. Do your research
I'm a recently retired dentist who has neglected my own weight situation for years. Now, with nothing to do all day, I have decided to lose weight. I'm old, but I walk my border collies 4-5 miles daily for exercise. I recently began eating chia pudding in place of the other garbage I was eating. You are correct...I was using too much honey and too little protein. Although I was adding about a quarter cup of Kefir. Thanks for this info to get me on the right track! SUBSCRIBED
That chocolate cinnamon flavor is very nice!

if you make your own granola (super easy)
oats
pumpkin seeds
sunflower seeds
almonds
maple syrup
oil
vanilla extract
cinnamon
salt
then it's a great healthy topping for chia seed pudding
i do my chia pudding always the same way:
- chia seeds, flax seeds, unsweetened almond milk and peanut butter
the healthy fats presented in the flax seeds and peanut butter, as well as the protein makes me full for longer, i eat it early in the morning even if im not hungry at all and it keeps me full until lunch and sometimes im not even hungry. you should eat even if you're not hungry, the principal meals, because if you dont you can lower your metabolism causing even more difficult weight loss.

Do you grind your flax seeds?
@@pwc9119 i dont but im gonna start doing it🤣 sometimes it gets boring with all the seeds

I feel like honey, sugar, and maple syrup is better than fake alternatives. I would rather have natural than chemicals.
Stevia and Monk Fruit are natural sweeteners just like honey is…however honey is not a sweetener and can affect your blood sugar-especially if you’re diabetic. Stevia and monk fruit doesn’t affect the blood sugar levels at all…please educate yourself before commenting
You feel like? 😂 chemicals in Stevia or Monk fruit? lol….. both are less processed than sugar from sugar cane or beets.
Yall a little too slow for this.

Everything is comprised of chemicals 🤷🏻♀️
I make chia with,
2 cups low fat chobani
1 cup oats
1 cup of water
2 teaspoon chia
1 teaspoon linseed
cinnamon vanilla essence
1 apple chopped
Powder sweetener
Mix chia linseed vanilla essence and cinnamon in the water, add the oats yoghurt and apple mix sweeten to taste then refrigerate till oats soften and eat for breakfast or a snack its quite delicious for me..
I also usually use coconut milk (like the one in the can for cooking, not the drink variety), makes the pudding so creamy!
Mistake #1 is not grinding the chia seeds first. When you don't grind them you get almost none of the omega-3 or protein content, and only get the insoluble fiber benefit of chia seeds. So, either grind them or use the pre-ground form.
Thanks for this
I’m new to this scene- now, I’ve read that re flaxseed not CHIA. Trying to do this correctly- where can I find the data supporting this?
I'd start with a video by Dr. Greger: search for "grind your chia seeds" on the nutritionfacts website. It cites several studies. The bottom line is that both flax and chia seeds need to be ground before being eaten to benefit from the omega-3 content. Chia seeds will still give you some nutrients if merely soaked, but the outer hull of a flaxseed will prevent any benefit unless you happen to chew them!
Not true. I think you are referring to flax seeds
@@lauras4472 I stand by my statement. Even chia seeds have to be ground to get the omega-3 fat benefit. I keep trying to post links but youtube deletes my posts, so just google for "grind your chia seeds" on the nutrition facts website of Dr. Greger. It cites several studies. The bottom line is that both flax and chia seeds need to be ground before being eaten to benefit from the omega-3 content. Chia seeds will still give you some nutrients if merely soaked, but the outer hull of a flaxseed will prevent any benefit unless you happen to chew them!
This is my morning smoothie that I have every day. I make it the night before so I have it ready to grab and go!
1 cup Silk coconut milk (or homemade coconut milk)
1/2 small frozen banana
1 scoop chocolate pea protein powder
1 scoop collagen peptide powder
1 Tbsp chia, hemp and flax seed mixture
1 cup raw spinach
1 to 2 ice cubes if you want a thinner consistency
Unsweetened Coconut milk (1/2 gallon in milk carton section) is perfect. I use macadamia nut butter, cinnamon and blueberries for soft, coconut smiles, toasted pecans or pistachios for crunch. No sweetener necessary!
I made the chia pudding you showed in another video for the first time, I didn't expect too much because i am not a big fan of greek yoghurt.. IT WAS FIRE. Very good! Had it with rasberries and a bit of almond butter. Very good! Thanks for the great information
For the record, I just entered a standard chia pudding recipe into My Fitness Pal and it's only just over 200 calories. That's like nothing, and it's not going to make you gain weight. Don't let this video scare you.
Recipe:
2 Tbsp (26g) chia seeds
1/2 cup milk
1 Tbsp honey (or less, to taste)
1/2 cup mixed berries
*update: you should not eat more than 2 Tbsp chia seeds per day, otherwise it could give you the runs!
If I may say, I follow everything you say like a bible! Your facts and information have worked wonders for me! I love it how you keep it straight and simple.
Ah, that's wonderful! So happy to hear that!
Me too, it all works for me. I love it
Everyone downs honey and maple syrup, They're both natural sweetners. Honey doesn't raise blood sugar as quickly as quickly as white sugar, it's good for gut health, and has many other benefits. It just needs to be used like every other sweetener, in moderation. I use 1tsp of honey for 1 large cup of chia pudding.
Yeah there is no universe where highly processed fake sugar is better for you than honey.
💯
I’m actually here tryna learn how to gain weight, so thank you for this video I will be sure NOT to avoid these things 🙂

Chia seeds are pretty calorically dense so it's a good option. Using real milk can also get the calories up.

I have 1 cup of Cottage cheese , 1/4 cup salsa , 2teap of chia seeds. So good and I use it for celery dip !!
Also using kefir with Greek yogurt for the base works well! So creamy!!
Chia seeds , almond milk and salted caramel protein powder. You gotta try this , I love it 😍

I usually add 1 cup of almond milk. 2 teaspoons of Maple syrup. (But next time I'll add monk or stevia sugar 1 packet) 1/2 cup of chia seeds, drizzle almond butter and bananas or blueberry/ strawberry as topics.
Also what helped lose weight was just add bananas as toppings
Too many rules. I'm just enjoying my food while trying to eat healthy as possible.
Same! Also will incorporate exercise
I agree 👍
Absolutely right
@@Missrere1984Sadly you absolutely cannot outrun a bad diet. I say this as a RN of 35 years experience. Yes exercise is a great option to help keep or create muscle mass but if your food plan isn’t good, you can’t expect to be able to have exercise do it all for you.
And honestly her “rules” aren’t all that many lol!
I use allulose as a sweetner. It is a non insulin spiker and tastes more like sugar.
I use whole milk from grass fed cows, in my chia seed pudding, unsweetened chocolate, top with blueberries ....
I add ground flax seeds and dietary fibre, almond milk and erythritol to my chia pudding. The final touch is frozen blueberries. Since it's a bigger portion it adds a satiety factor 😊
Erythritol is carcinogenic. Try stevia.
I tried this last night and I really, really like it. I have tried lots of recipes for Chia pudding and they all were runny and sweet. This recipe was nice and thick without any sugar except the fresh raspberries that I added to it and it was delicious. I want to try it with blackberries and with the coconut cream. My chia seed pudding is 1.5 c of unsweetened almond milk, 1/2c of heavy cream, vanilla extract and flavored stevia. Easy peasy and very good. I will add nuts or even some healthy peanut butter to it in my servings.
@Bitterman Ah, I see you are still stuck in the 1980s regarding saturated fat and cholesterol. Perhaps you should be reading more research and studies. A simple study about what cholesterol is and does and what oxidizes it to the point that it is detrimental might surprise you (hint: it isn't saturated fat or cream). If you want to take the time, I'll post some recent studies on saturated fat and heart disease that were not done with any keto axe to grind.

Autumn you seriously have no idea how much your information is needed on UA-cam. I made some yesterday and couldn’t wait to have it for tomorrows breakfast so I had it for dinner last night and then again this morning for breakfast. I can’t wait to purchase the frozen raspberries !! Please keep the information coming!
All food has a sugar spike after you eat it. Do not add so much sweetener, more fat and protein like you said. Schedule in a 15 minute or more walk after you eat, this helps level off the Blood Sugar spike!
I want to gain weight so am gonna follow these mistakes ☁️

Chia seeds
Cinnamon powder

As a this base and in the morning I add Greek yogurt and a pinch of almonds or any nuts I might have and too it off with fruit whatever I have on hand as well
love how you mentioned the hormones involved in digestion
Me seeing this title and needing to put on weight, feeling very happy about whatever she’s about to say!
I love that you have the credentials to parallel your advice! It really makes a difference when the ear can hear educated, scientific and well explained information..,thank you!!
Be reasonable. If you listen to someone with the same credentials they give different recommendations. They are consistently citing studies and what does that have to do with their credentials?? Be honest, she doesn't look healthy at all. She looks unwell.
I think she has an eating disorder. calorie counting and restricting sugar (if you're not diabetic) is disordered.
I don’t even eat chia for weight loss I just love it lol.
I would go with the recommended serving on the carton of coconut milk. Also, measure your ingredients!
I am crushing this because I already use yoghurt as my base, only add a small amount of maple syrup, and add cacao nibs and raspberries on top :D
I just got diagnosed with Insulin resistance yesterday so the sweetener tips were so helpful! Tysm! ❤
I'm doing this tomorrow!!!!
you will find frets fruit will add t the sweetness especially bananas in moderation, but I love raspberries blueberries and strawberries all great additions.

ahhh that was a good one
😂😂 agreed, that was a good one
This is a good video but something important to note is that the order of ingredients is by weight specifically. 1 tablespoon of sweetener might weigh slightly more than 2 tablespoons of chia seeds. In common DIY recipes for Chia pudding you see something like 2 tbsp of chia seeds, 1 tbsp of honey, 1/3 cup milk. By weight the ingredient list for that could still be "Milk, Honey, Chia Seeds." (Some sources for volume -> weight conversion disagree but that's why we're going with "could" and "might" in the wording here.)
Should chia seeds be grounded to get full benefit?
They are best left whole in pudding. 🙂
She said in a video whole or ground is pretty much the same. It’s flax seed that needs to be ground
I use whole milk and add frozen organic berries (from Costco). There is no need for sweetener, the berries provide some sweetness.

Great video, as always! I'd love to see a video about your thoughts on healing diastasis recti.
I love Chia with peanut butter, bananas, and blueberries!
Has anybody tried adding avocado for the extra fat? I might give that a shot and see how it goes.
Wow thank you I started eating chia seed pudding the other day & I did it wrong I guess it taste good but I am a type 2 diabetic so now I know thank you
Do you use chia puddling as a meal?
Yes! But it's important to ensure you get the proper amount of protein in the chia pudding base to consider it a meal.
I added ground flaxseed as this not only offers protein but omegas and such!
I don’t think I’ve ever had a chia pudding, am I missing out? 🤣
Yes, it’s amazing stuff.
Chia seeds + coconut milk + cinnamon + cacao + a dash of sweetener.
Sometimes we throw in some blueberries too, it’s amazing stuff and it’s very filling as well.
It takes a minute to get used to the consistency.... then it's great! Just don't load up by adding carbs. Prepare it overnight.
Yes! Super easy to make and a great healthy snack to your lunch❤️
My two teens who hate everything would tell you “Yes!”. We prepare like Game Probe comment above but also add in golden granulated monk fruit to sweeten, vanilla extract and cardamom. To top it, a dash of whole made whipped cream (sweetened with monk fruit drops so cream isn’t grainy)
and a couple raspberries not blueberries for us! It’s so easy and yummy. If you prefer a more tapioca vibe put in a package of drained Miracle Rice too.
I agree with everyone in this thread 💯
Use ground chia for a smooth texture recipe.
Tree bark is a great alternative with chia too to keep you full. 😂. Couldn’t help myself. I agree we eat and drink a lot of things that can add to weight gain but generally if we are eating healthy, exercising, intermittent fasting, can’t we indulge once in a while.
I do appreciate your advice. Love your keto coffee recipe!
Hi. I’m confused. Can we use honey or maple syrup. I tend to use these as a drizzle. Your PB cookies also have these ingredients in? Thanks
Add sweetener, just not too much.
I tried Streusli as per Autumn's recommendations, and it's a fantastic topping on yogurt, cottage cheese, chia bowls, waffles/pancakes, etc.
Post plandemic weight gain journey, I feel water is a safe base. Add accordingly. Makes sense. Thanks!
As a type 1 diabetic I don't have to take insulin for stevia so ima say it doesn't spike insulin in normal people.
Ok but if you've ever seen Abby's Kitchen, you'll know that there's a huge difference between added sugar and natural sugar, and natural sugar breaks down differently than added sugar aka table sugar.
