    My truck goes in to 2nd gear and it stalls between 40mph and 50mph before going to 3rd gear and and then OD kicks in 4 seconds later sometimes 3rd gear goes in at around 45mph maybe 48mph and it feels like the TC is trying to lock it shakes a lot. I let go the pedal and then step on it to get over 50 mph and it drives smooth again going into third and overdrive. I will gladly appreciate your help. I’ve had this truck for one year and have rebuild. The transmission have taken it back and everything looks fine before I take it back for the third time I seen your videos, you have a lot of knowledge, in transmissions you for your help

      I appreciate your kind words and I hope to help you with your situation.
      Have you adjusted the TV cable? A damaged or improperly adjustable TV cable can cause issues like that.
      Also, sometimes the TV spring beside the transmission case can be stretched.

    You sound like a very knowledgeable guy. Maybe you could offer a suggestion for my problem. I have a stock 94 Dodge 12 valve with the 47RH. The torque converter locks and unlocks at highway speeds. This has been going on for over 21 years. I’ve taken it several places and no one can help me. I do not want to bypass the computer to fix it because flipping a switch every time I slow down or stop would drive me nuts. I have removed and cleaned every ground I could find. Had the batteries and alternator tested and they are good. I’ve wrapped the wires around the alternator with foil. I added ferrite chokes to all ground wires. I’ve replaced the throttle position sensor. I’ve replaced the computer on the firewall behind the air cleaner. Many UA-cam videos talk about moving a ground wire coming from under the passenger side battery and going over the alternator. My truck does not have this wire. I installed a noise isolator from Geno’s Garage and it fixed the problem for three years but it came back. I bought another one from BD Diesel and it did not do a thing. Do you have any suggestions?

      I appreciate that. I try to share my experiences in the event that they may help someone else. As far as the issue that your truck is having, have you checked the following?
      1. Faulty Brake light switch (sometimes these are out of adjustment and the weight from the brake pedal mechanism alone combined with a bumpy road can trigger the brake light switch mechanism, resulting in the truck shifting out of OD.
      2. Remove the throttle position wires out of their original harness and into their own dedicated loom.
      3. Faulty O/D Off switch on the dash. Before I replaced my O/D switch, for some very odd reason, it would randomly engage. I actually didn't even know that this style switch even had an indicator lamp inside of it but it does. Since the lamp in my original switch was burned out before I purchased the truck, I didn't even consider a faulty switch as a possibility.
      4. Temperature Sensor (what this video addresses). As explained in this video, a faulty temp sensor can cause this issue and a good remedy to replace the sensor is the resistor.
      Side note, I installed that noise isolator from Geno's as well. During the install I found that the wire lining was pretty tough hard material that the needle from the noise isolator couldn't puncture so I used a mini razor to expose just enough of the copper wire to guarantee a proper connection.
      Hopefully this helps!

      @@AES5967 Thank you for responding. UA-cam didn’t notify me you did and I just happened across this. I have tried adjusting the brake light switch several times and it does seem to affect the lock up but it never fixes it permanently. I ordered a new one and will try that. I also have had the overdrive lockout button on the dash pop on unexpectedly. It’s like hitting the brakes when it downshifts like that. I just push it and it goes back into overdrive. It has not happened in a long time but used to do it once a month or so. I soldered my noise isolator instead of using the little plastic pin thing. I will look into the temp sensor if the brake switch doesn’t help. I did hear from a guy that suggested a pressure switch in the transmission might be bad. I have noticed it seems to unlock more when I let off the fuel after getting up to speed. It also seems to lock back up going uphill and unlock when cresting a hill. Not always though.

      I will also attempt getting the TPS wires out of the loom. Hoping I don’t mess up anything else while doing that.

      @@stevevick9946 I have also changed the throttle position sensor but it didn’t help mine. Maybe it didn’t help because I didn’t buy the OEM and just bought one online? My truck is in storage for the winter. Hoping to try again in the spring.

    Because I'm doing a 12 valve swap on my F350 mud truck

  • @PerfectQue

    i have 1994 3500 Cummins 4x4 and the tranny takes a few minutes of shifting it back and forth between forward and reverse before it builds enough pressure to engage if it's been sitting for a day or two. Once it does it runs fine until it sits for a day then i have to repeat the process. Any idea why?

    • @AES5967
      @AES5967  2 роки тому

      I'd check the obvious first. Make sure the fluid level is at a proper level. The truck has to be running with the transmission in Neutral.
      Assuming you have a stock torque converter and valve body, the valve body doesn't push fluid while in PARK.
      So try this test next time: Start the truck in Neutral (apply parking brake if you feel that is needed), wait about 10-15 seconds before putting it in Drive or Reverse - check if it engages sooner than it was while in Park.
      Ultimately, if the fluid level is correct I believe you have a leak in the torque converter or pump causing drain back.

    My 95 12v has no overdrive and has an issue when shifting it goes 1st 2nd then goes back to first I let off the throttle them get back on it and it goes to third then no overdrive

      I'd check for proper fluid level. (Truck needs to be running and in Neutral when checking). If that's OK check for proper TV cable adjustment.

    So you jumped the temp sensor with the resister

    • @AES5967

      Yes but to make sure we're on the same page I unplugged the connector from the temperature sensor and then fed the resistor ends into that connector.

    What does doing this mod change?

    • @AES5967
      @AES5967  3 місяці тому

      This mod replaces the actions/duties of the factory 47RH transmission temperature sensor. The transmission will go into lock up even if it is below freezing outside (since the factory sensor will prevent lock up in order to warm the transmissions up). It's also more reliable than the factory temperature sensor as that sensor tends to fail quite frequently, losing lock up capabilities. Be sure to watch the video and its entirety.

      @@poorfarmer3796 I purchased them many years ago off of eBay. At the time, they were the only aftermarket powered mirror-glass tow mirrors available for the 94-01 trucks.
      I just tried to check my order history on eBay for them. Unfortunately they could only go back as far as 2019.
      Your best bet is to search for "94-01 dodge ram power tow mirrors" on eBay or even Amazon. I'm sure you'll generate some results. Hope this helps!
