This was written in 1974, when the group visited Morocco. It was released in 1975 on the Physical Graffiti album. Bonzo sadly died of an OD in 1980, and the group felt it couldn’t continue. Bonzo’s son, Jason, took to the drums for this one-off show. He certainly inherited his father’s inate talent. He called Robert, Jimmy and John Paul his three uncles as they were there for him if he needed anything after his father died. John Paul plays the bass part with his left foot driving the song onwards with the dual keyboards, Jimmy had cleaned up his act and was clean of drugs by this performance. Jimmy said this driving riff was actually the last part of another not named song. Then we have Robert, who voice is still as powerful in range and strength of being able to hold notes for such a long time. No gimmicks like auto tuning, just pure raw talent. I feel so lucky to have been a young teenager when this album was released. This live version is better than the s album version. Your appreciation for this music makes me happy as your generation will become the guardians and promulgators of this iconic group and their music after we have sprung off this mortal coil.
Led Zeppelin was totally at home playing live. I saw them in 1975 & 1977. They have such power in there playing and in their presence. This is a great song live too!
@@kathiekinsler Me too! Me and my friends (and a whole bunch of other people) were going to sleep overnight outside the old Montreal Forum to get tickets. No internet in those days. Led Zeppelin they invented the GOAT phrase and status. Still my favorite band of the 70s from the first time I heard them at age 9 until now that I am almost 61. Kashmir is just one of those bombastic songs that we grew up with and although I love all of Led Zeppelin‘s music Kashmir is a masterpiece! There will never be another Led Zeppelin🥰 these and so many others are the rock gods of my youth.✌🏻
I would suggest you view this song performed at Knebworth in 1979 before John Bonham died. His drum fills are well worth the view, and Robert Plant’s vocals are very good.
Incredible that Kashmir first came out in 1975 and this was in 2007!! Robert, John, and Jimmy are as great as back in the day! Robert's vocal are killer!! Robert was about 58 here ! 🤘❤️
Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face And stars fill my dream I'm a traveler of both time and space To be where I have been To sit with elders of the gentle race This world has seldom seen They talk of days for which they sit and wait All will be revealed Talk in song from tongues of lilting grace Sounds caress my ear And not a word I heard could I relate The story was quite clear Oh, baby, I been blind Oh, yeah, mama, there ain't no denyin' Oh, ooh yes, I been blind Mama, mama, ain't no denyin', no denyin' All I see turns to brown As the sun burns the ground And my eyes fill with sand As I scan this wasted land Try to find, try to find the way I feel Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace Like sorts inside a dream Leave the path that led me to that place Yellow desert stream My shangri la beneath the summer moon I will return again As the dust that floats high in June We're moving through Kashmir Oh, father of the four winds fill my sails Cross the sea of years With no provision but an open face Along the straits of fear Oh, when I want, when I'm on my way, yeah And my feet wear my fickle way to stay Ooh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah yeah, But I'm down oh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah Yeah, but I'm down, so down Ooh, my baby, oh, my baby Let me take you there Come on, oh let me take you there Let me take you there

More than a band. Look at how their art moved so many people from different backgrounds and generations. It's great that their catalogue is so readily available now for future generations.
As good as page and plant are on this and they are without doubt awesome, the real star of this song is John Paul Jones, he underpins the song with his keyboard lines, and he’s playing bass with his feet. What a musician.
There was a rumor going around just after this concert that a promoter offered the band a Billion dollars to do a tour. I've never heard if there was any truth to it, but over twenty million people tried buying tickets for this event.
You were right about Mr Combs ripping this song on the Godzilla Soundtrack. I gotta give him credit though, because I believe he got with the actual band for a new studio recording. ...The Drummer is Jason Bonham, the Son of John Bonham, the Original Drummer, who died in 1980.
It's the original drummer the late John Bonham's son Jason Bonham playing drums here. John died in 1980, that is when Led Zeppelin broke up. They felt they couldn't go on without him.

Great point. I am also pleased to see these younger musicals artists getting into an older genre that they're not expected to like. I would add, though, that artists have always taken from other artists, just as Led Zeppelin took from Black American artists to make their sound (blues, funk, gospel). It's like it comes full circle.

I had always been disapointed that Jimmy Page didn't put out any new music for decades now. I recently read where he's had tendinitis/carpel tunnel for a very long time and just didn't have fluidity to play as well. Especially soloing. A song like this is easy in comparison to some of their other very demanding songs for a guitarist.
Well, I managed just 48 seconds of watching this video before stopping it. That`s because you only managed to watch 24 seconds, of one of the greatest music videos ever, before you felt it necessary to stop it and start talking. Just let it play, keep quiet and talk about it afterwards. Try watching Sabina react to this same video. That`s the way to do it.
I suggest a deep dive into this group. The Beatles owned the 60’s. Led Zeppelin owned the 70’s. Aside from maybe Tool, there is no other band that has come out since with music that makes you FEEL as much as zeppelin music.
