As usual, JPJ is also playing bass foot pedals while still playing the keyboards, you would soon notice if he weren't there ( and that's the case for every zeppelin song!!) Thanks for appreciating his stellar contribution 😃
This is my favorite version of this song. This song Is my favorite song of all time a complete and total masterpiece from the first note to the last note and every single piece of perfection in between
As I've said on other videos, for those of us old enough to remember LZ in their heyday, this live Celebration Day concert was technically better, musically and otherwise than they were back in the day. The genius of their music has seasoned and they are more polished. Plant sounds (and looks) phenomena and, being more "clear headed" serves him very well. I also love that instead of just lazily running through medleys of their countless hits, they give this one and some of their other masterpieces the attention that they deserve.
Helene here. I love hearing Page, JPJ and Plant talk about the rehearsals leading up to this concert, and bringing Jason in. Jason had made it a point to get ahold of every bootleg out there of Zeppelin and had studied his dad’s drumming for every song, every concert. According to the original three, Jason was a big help during rehearsal, because it was like having all those bootlegs there with them. If Jimmy couldn’t recall a particular transition or ending, Jason would chime in with “well, in Chicago in 1973 you did it this way, and in Orlando 1975 you did it this way.” That knowledge, along with his immense energy and enthusiasm helped allot when the others flagged a bit. It was a pretty intense six weeks leading up to the gig…..very emotional for all of them.
I was 15 when I bought the album Physical Graffiti in 1975, I’m 63 now. Saw them in 1977 at the Seattle King Dome. They sounded and performed like back in the 70’s. Plant did amazing with his vocals, and Page was having the time of his life. Jason couldn’t quit smiling the entire song. Age is just a number, they still got it! Great reaction!
Entire concert (two hours, with three encores) is fantastic! A must watch! Kashmir was the finale….they’ve been playing for almost two hours at this point. Not that long for a traditional Zep concert, but hey…as you say, they’re a bit older here! 😁
John Paul Jones is playing the bass part with his feet on this one. By the way, 20 Million people tried to get tickets for this show. It's a world record.
I agree Kashmir is their greatest song too and one of all time. The last two minutes in particular, is like a cosmic experience. Nothing else hits me like it. Achilles last stand is another and Ten Years gone
There were only 20,000 seats available and when they went on sale, all the servers crashed with over 20 million request for tickets in the first 2 hours. Also they were all in their 60's. Kashmir was first released in 1975. Singer is Robert Plant, guitar player is Jimmy Page, keyboards and bass, John Paul Jones, drummer, Jason Bottom, son of original drummer, John Bottom. When they were rehearsing they told the crew, NO AUTO TUNE OR OTHER ENHANCEMENTS, they wanted to do it just like they did in 1975. Voted best rock band of the 60's-70's & 80's. Then came back in 2007 and did this in their 60's and killed it with NO AUTO TUNE OR OTHER ENHANCEMENTS today singers use.
Helene here. Jimmy Page produced the video of this December 2007 concert. It was released in 2012. This was the same year as the Kennedy Center Honors celebrating Zeppelin, among others. There is a great video of an interview of the four of them, Jimmy, Robert, JPJ and Jason, promoting the release of this concert film. The interaction between Plant and Jason (his godson) is especially endearing.
One couldn't ask for a better closing of the book. They were offered silly money to do a world tour but Plant said no. He told Jason the reason they quit was because his dad was no longer with us & that hasn't changed. So true, its not Zep without Bonzo. As good as Jason is. The band did rehearse with a few singers afterwards hoping Plant would change his mind. Thankfully he didn't.
Great songs in this, No Quarter is astonishing. The lyrics for this came from Plant's bout with line fever hallucinations when he and Page were going to a festival in Marrakesh. He decided to make the song about a mystical experience placing it in Kashmir instead of Morocco. As Paul on the road to Damascus, it might have been Israel but Brits singing about Israel, esp Jerusalem, might have started another war. British imperialism being further removed from India, I do not think anyone died over the song. And well, Mecca, you do the math on that one.
JPJ period ❤ ❤ Edit - I’ve only heard a better dissertation buy myself, I’m just sayin lmfao ❤ Edit again- Jason’s drums… Dam! Sorry for all the edits but I think it sums ups OUR favorite band of all time …… Edit … Page, Plant …. Not that I forgot….. ❤ My Favorite Ever ! Of all time
Very powerful! Watch the whole concert. I feel they are better with age (like a fine wine). The very lucky concert goers had to win a ticket lottery to buy them. IMO it would have been worth every penny! And Jason fit right in, you know his father is proud of him.
There is one version of this performance out there that is extended after the song is finished with all four guys at the front of the stage with arms around each other and I thinks it’s Jimmy Page that reaches around Robert Plant to give Jason a quick rub on the head with his hand. Pretty touching.
Oh cool un blocked video, good review of a band I am not familiar with, excellent musical skills, wonder how a modern singer would sing with this band, don't think there are many out there that could do a cover of this song. Grave VanderWaal perhaps, but she might not be able to pull it off. These old bands did it all without auto tune, just heir voices and instruments.
Ann Wilson, certainly…when she was younger, could, and did cover Zeppelin ALLOT!but a modern singer?….yeah……that’s a toughie…….maybe the singer for Muse?
He said that there were some “fixes” but added VERY few. His one mention was that that long note held by Robert was extended just a bit…..because hey, who could hold a note that powerfully that long at almost 60? But to me, the main point is that VERY few fixes had to be made. You can tell by the audience reaction that they were superb that night.
It's defo the apex woaw they're better now!! The drummer is a dream !!! Go on play it again!!!!!! Robert come on is a god!!! So charismatic even now!!!
I think this performance punctuates their career as artists and their contribution to the development of popular music. Given the passage of time and all that entails they should not be sounding this good. Personally I like this live version over the other versions I have heard. The pacing of the song, the mix of the instruments AND Robert’s voice are just extraordinary. If there was someone better, I don’t know who that would be.
The GOATS...ACTUALLY YOU SHOULD WATCH THE REAL ONE. JOHN BONHAM WAS NOT ALIVE FOR THIS CONCERT. ITS HIS SON ON THE DRUMS! They never used an Orchestra. 🤨😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best review I’ve seen of this extraordinary performance of an extraordinary work. Thank you. Liked and subscribed 😊🇬🇧
These guys are STILL THE GOATS
I believe this is the greatest performance of the greatest song in the history of music.
I ain't going to disagree bro x
its johns son jason on drums! imo this is the best live version of kashmir, its AWESOME!
It is the best reaction of this masterpiece. Thank you!
Thank you, Dmitri!

I agree. Better than 75 or 79.
If you watch the full concert, you won’t be sorry. It is absolutely unbelievable!

I love your genuine reaction to theese icons. These GUYS ARE AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST ROCK BAND EVER!!! SIGNED THE GOATS 🐐🐐🐐🐐

Terrific background, Helene. Wonderful. Thank you
You have perfect sound redistribution on your channel.
That’s very good to know. Thank you very much!

Enjoyed your reaction, thank you
plant was 59 in this vid. and, as you said, he’s still got it.
Such a pleasure hearing Robert still has a fantastic voice unlike some older singers cough cough John bonjovi.
One of my favorite live performances. 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯

Very nice comments you made of this group. If i'm not mistaken they made a box set of this show. Take care , stay safe, God bless
John Paul Jones is playing the bass part with his feet on this one. By the way, 20 Million people tried to get tickets for this show. It's a world record.
Here they are 27 years after John’s passing. Still the greatest band who ever lived.
When they announced this one-off gig there were 20 million applications for tickets ….!!
20 MILLION !!
I agree Kashmir is their greatest song too and one of all time. The last two minutes in particular, is like a cosmic experience.
Nothing else hits me like it.
Achilles last stand is another and Ten Years gone
John Paul Jones is actually playing three keyboards throughout this song - one with his feet to play the bass.

You REALLY do need to watch this whole concert…,,mind blowingly good! Just go through it song by song. You will LOVE it!
Nice reaction
Exhilarating...a most apt description.
This was wonderful to hear again. Thabk you Dax your reaction was fabulous.
So glad you mentioned John Paul Jones. He is a maestro, the underlying musical chameleon that never gets the credit he deserves.
John Paul Jones is not of this world - has he ever missed a note? EVER?
Jason played drums very2 good on this concert especially The Song Same Remain & Rock n Roll..
Happy 80th Birthday, Jimmy !

These guys can come out of *RETIREMENT* and *still* show the new generation how to put on a R&R concert! Average age of 60 and *STILL* got it!!
JPJ period ❤ ❤
Edit - I’ve only heard a better dissertation buy myself, I’m just sayin lmfao ❤
Edit again- Jason’s drums… Dam!
Sorry for all the edits but I think it sums ups OUR favorite band of all time ……

Thank you for giving John Paul Jones his due..... He is the backbone of the band....
The past of the yesrs make you better.

When the gods played
Page admitted some of the vocals were 'fixed' in the studio before the DVD was released.
He said that there were some “fixes” but added VERY few. But to me, the main point is that VERY few fixes had to be made. You can tell by the audience reaction that they were superb that night.
I watched an audience recorded video of this performance years before the album came out and it was exactly the same vocals.
It's defo the apex woaw they're better now!! The drummer is a dream !!! Go on play it again!!!!!! Robert come on is a god!!! So charismatic even now!!!
New sub! Like your vibe…..

Robert Plant is 73 years old!
John Paul jones is playing bass with his feet
While I love this, Earl's Court and the 1975 live versions are better.
P&P Kashmir was even better.
No orchestra just JPJ
