Hi, I have a Leopold FC980C coming, and I'm a little nervous about modding. Are any mods out there you would consider essential?
it's hard to mess up a topre, you can always wipe off the lube and restart, i have mine lubed and silenced, sounds a lot better than stock 980c
I have a guide to help people modify their topre boards. It has videos for most steps. While not all of it is essential it's still a good starting place. unrealkeyboards.com/pages/topre-modification-guide
I would only consider one modification "essential": greasing your stabilizer bars. The rest are 100% subjective. Lubricating the sliders on a new board can make a big improvement in the percieved scratchiness.
Well damn, I just discovered I installed my 2U landing pads wrong! I placed the landing pads between the PCB and the domes, instead of between the sliders and the domes. Think its worth tearing it all back apart to install them the right way? Or does it not make much of a difference?
They may change the keyfeel of the stabilizers because the thickness of the Stabilizer pad is raising the dome and reducing travel. If it feels OK to you then it's probably not worth taking it apart.
@@UnrealKeyboards I changed them this morning to correct way. Didn't change the feel much, but definitely slightly improved the sound!
