Railroad Crossing Stuck on Traffic Light. Creates Chaos in Ashland MA

- Background information is at the beginning of the video. Here we are at the relatively high risk railroad crossing, Main Street in Ashland; with the most recent vehicle strike being in early 2020. The crossing gate was bent by a car and then as the crossing went up, it got caught in a traffic light pole. The crossing’s bells and lights remained activated because of that. Drivers were confused about this as seen in the video. Ashland Police Department showed up on scene to try to fix the problem. Meanwhile the approaching commuter rail was being given instructions over the radio under a form-D order to have the crossing flagged. We see the crossing gate go up and down a few time and slamming into different parts of the pole.
Also I have said this in a few other videos from this day, but note the broken Conrail Defect Detector. It failed earlier that day and was then turned off soon after I left. It has now been replaced which is unfortunate as it was the last Conrail detector on the system. - Авто та транспорт
That gate got tangled up with the stop light never seen that happen before and nice Electrotech LED lights as well
I say the gate has to go the other side where the curb is dividing the road way
@@Seedat___ the gate got bent and the same thing could happen if it was located in the median. Very simple repair job...
5:08 *OFFICER TOLD THE DRIVER TO BACK UP* 😬
The car was under the barrier gate.
Call me crazy, but I don't think that is an appropriate place for a traffic light.
The crossing gate was bent so something must had hit it
ah yes the day ashland hit the fan
i never realized how tall the signal was...
There are mast (pole) heights
The 3593/3590 mechanism got stuck on the traffic pole LOL.
those cops just are not in a good mood
Would you be if you had to deal with drivers disobeying the commands to back up and not sit in the danger zone of the level crossing , they were most likely at the crossing multiple times already due to the same issue and the railroad company didn't fix the crossing.
1:40 “System not working” That can’t be good
Oh no, the gate on the railroad crossing is stuck on the traffic light and it won't go up or down.
The problem is the signal that is hanging perhaps take that one off and then there would be room for the crossing gate. That crossing needs to be redesigned.
The railroad crossing was under the influence...
It was "lit"
@@MrWc867 Like R&R Canadian Whiskey lit?
What was the reason behind not including the full transmission between the dispatcher and train? Just curious. Each time that I videoed and there were transmission between the dispatcher and the train and copied a directive. Somehow he got into my videos and I didn’t know if that was legal or if there was just some circumstance behind the whole thing but that was a good catch overall, good video❤
Haha wow what a situation lol nice video!
It was a real situation lol, thank you.
Thats my home town! I remember when this happened haha
I don't know. One of the signal 🚦 lamps needs to be moved looks like
I cannot Believe the Cops are there at that Crossing they don't need them! what they need is a CSX Worker to Repair the Gate so the Gate goes down again and is not Dangling off the Traffic Light!
The traffic lights look depressed
Hey look behind the crossing a little tornado siren
Yeah, not sure if they are still used
It a black mabe a huricane or tornado
Can you wait there in boston to see that huricane siren
Why huricane siren at boston there no tornados
That is a Whelen siren and yes it is still in use
all it takes is a good push and not lower/raise it a few times, because, though it's aluminum, the gate can break
Its called not paying attention during construction and testing phase.
Mbta commuter rail is like what the heck!!!!????
Hope they got it fixed.
Yes I believe they did
I'm pretty sure the railroad put this at a pretty high priority to fix.

Wow... !!! My best friend, You Great Good... !!! I wish you every day of your development. Best Relaxing +thumb up3!
I was there that day
7:40 Stuck On Traffic Light ⬆️🚧💥🚦
Is it just the gates are not lowering down or it's just a railroad crossing malfunction?
The Gate is stuck
I wish you had shown where MOW fixed the problem.
Did the gate get fixed?
I think the crossing was placed poorly either that or move the traffic light up a bit so the gate don't get caught on it
😂😂🎉🎉😢😢😮😮😅😅😊
I disagree im pretty sure it got hit and one of the sheer bolts broke Causing the Gate the to lean
How come the preemption signals turned off after a while?
Because they are connected to a switch in the gate mechanism that when the gate is not in the locked position the lights and bells stay on
They was actually on in the beginning, I think the gate attempting to lower and hitting the one signal knocked them out... However, with the gate not being able to rise all the way, that meant that the traffic signals wasn't able to go back to normal function either, so that was just all bad all around.
Hello
I like the video
The signal maintainer will have to come and fix the crossing gate to see that what's causing the issue.
No, whatever company installs these traffic lights, they will have to move the current traffic light.
@@littleexperience2.._._._._._.. Good idea 👍
Why you just stood there filming rather than actually helping?
are you really that stupid? He’s just a railfanner, not police nor anything that has to do with the rails.
Wooow
The traffic light and the railroad signal are too close too each other.
@@mbkeeler Don't be mean.
@@kittykatmca1985 my apologies, it was intended to be a joke
Nice K3LA
Is malfunction
Nice!
Thanks
Traffic light wasn't even on...
Lol you’re right
@@BostonBeaconPark so just take it down anyways... I'm sure it'll go well and not damage the gate even more.......
@@southshorerailvideos1122 no they need that traffic light.
Amtrak Productions They could have an officer on duty while it’s being replaced.
@@southshorerailvideos1122 the reason for the traffic light is to prevent cars from stopping on the train tracks. Without it constantly cars will stop on train tracks, and then be hit. What, do, you, think, the, solution, is, here.
bring out the city fire truck raise them up in the bucket and pull the gate out of the way.
That works once. The gate itself was bent, and would just get stuck again the next time the gate operated. You want police and fire to have to dispatch back out there again every time a train goes thru? Better to sit on it now and get it fixed (which I presume the RR did).
@@xheralt either that or keep billing the railroad for every time the fire department has to come out for their lack of maintenance on the gate LOL 🤪
omg
You should’ve moved the crossing arm gate off the traffic light
The arm had been bent, remember? Even if they freed it now, it would just get stuck again the next time the gate operated! Better they just sat on it now until it got fixed, rather than running back and forth every time a train ran thru.
it might break
Not the crossings fault it’s just poor engineering the crossings just doing it’s job
Change it to 🚥 instead of 🚦
