Hello again, just wondering have you already watched the following video? The Ordinary For Beginners: ua-cam.com/video/diaLVk_EsI4/v-deo.html Generally speaking, you just need to practice it this video may help you to understand it even better. (It takes times 😉) The Ordinary What Each Product Does: ua-cam.com/video/8pPkLWz5S0U/v-deo.html
I'm just starting to really taking care of my skin and trying The Ordinary products, your videos are helping me the most of any other. I love how you explain everything on a simple but very specific and understable way. I'm loving you as much as I'm loving this products. Thanks Melissa!
I rarely comment to any YT videos I watched but yours is exceptional! Thank you so much for this. I so love the graphics and suggestion guide. Very very helpful for me as I am only starting The Ordinary skin care routine. 😊
Hello Maine 🙂 That's great to hear. You can also watch the following videos: Skin Care Routine Order Morning and Night: ua-cam.com/video/SZr-0xZq6UE/v-deo.html The Ordinary For Beginners: ua-cam.com/video/diaLVk_EsI4/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for your videos! Watched a lot and I did my research. But I'm still confused. I bought the AHA BHA peeling solution, hyaluronic acid, alpha arbutin, caffeine solution, niancinamide zinc, argerline solution, peptide and lastly retinol. I just threw everything in my basket went ahead and bought it, didn't know there is so much to learn! So I have this routine now: Morning: - cleanser - caffeine solution - argerline solution peptide - alpha arbutin serum - hyaluronic acid - moisturizer - spf 50 Night: - cleanser - rose water - alpha arbutin - niancinamide zinc - retinol - moisturizer and once a week the AHA BHA > hyaluronic acid, niancinamide zinc, moisturizer. I have to say, my face can handle a lot. I don't feel anything with the AHA BHA peeling for example. But maybe this is too much I think, I do not know how I can change it up and which products work best with each other and how to combine. I hope you can tell me if I'm doing something wrong or if I could change anything. Love from the Netherlands!
Hey :) Your routine looks great! However, just as you said, it may be a bit too much in one routine, try this: AM Routine - Cleanser - Caffeine Solution - Hyaluronic Acid - Alpha Arbutin - (Optional) Moisturizer - SPF 50 PM 1 Routine: - Cleanser - Rose Water - Argireline Solution - Niacinamide - Retinol (See video below) - (Optional) Moisturiser How To Use The Ordinary Retinol: ua-cam.com/video/W-siXbrGhx0/v-deo.html PM 2 Routine: - Cleanser - Peeling Solution - Hyaluronic Acid - (Optional) Moisturiser Hope this helps :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hi Melissa, thank you so much for your response! I'm gonna switch right away to what you recommend. Can't wait to try it this way :)
As always, of great help! Love your videos! What routines would you create with these Ordinary products? Niacinimide, Hyaluronic Acid 2%+ B5, Buffet+ Copper Peptides , Matrixyl, AHA + BHA, Amino Acids + B5, Ascorbyl Glucoside 12%. Thank you :)
There are many different options. Therefore I recommend watching the following video to understand how to layer them. The Ordinary Layering: ua-cam.com/video/gMrV5WD8KkA/v-deo.html
Hi melissa! I really love the way you explain especially the way you talk ❤️ I have signs of aging and that's what i target that's why i am using this routine. I also have pimples but it is still managebale. i hope you dont mind if i ask if i can use also the ordinary niacinamide during night time after hyaluronic acid. This is my routine and all are the ordinary products Daytime: Squalene cleanser Hyaluronic acid Niacinamide Natural moisturizing factors Night time: Squalene cleanser Lactic acid (peeling solution once a week but without lactic acid) Hyaluronic acid Natural moisturizing factors I wanna add the niacinamide in between the hyaluronic and moisturizer night time. Thank you very much and hugs from sweden 🇸🇪
Hey! :) Yes, that's fine! As for your signs of aging, you may also want to look into Vitamin C, Peptides and/or Retinol/Granactive Retinoid! :) Also, for you little pimples, which I get myself. I use a Benzoyl Peroxide cream (when pimples appear) and use it only on those spots so that I can get rid of them faster. It also has helped me to control it a bit more! :)

Hi Melissa, please let me know if any changes are required to be made in the following routine: Morning Rose water toner Niacinamide+alpha arbutin Moisturizer Spf Night Toner Vitamin c+alpha arbutin Moisturizer Spf Please tell me if I can use niacinamide and vitamin c on the same day or should I use them in alternate days.
Then if I understand correct, I can use hyaluronic acid --> Niacinamide --> Plant-Derived Squalane ? My problem is large pores and dryness. Do you recommend anything else for this? Thank you for posting videos, youre so skillfull and beautiful.
Yes, 😀 Correct 🙂 This may already solve it. If you use Niacinamide, you may have to add an additional moisturizer, not sure if the plant-derived squalane is enough. Or add a toner before hyaluronic acid, maybe the Enriched Calming Toner from Paula's Choice. 🙂 But you need to test it, but I can recommend a toner, works very well for my dry cheeks!

hi :) i have a question: can i use the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% solution and the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsio in the evening and the Vitamin C Suspension 23%+ HA Spheres 2% in the morning ? Is the time period too short and they neutralise each other ? Thanks for making such great videos:)
Hello Melissa 👋 🌸❤️Can i use Niacinamide and discoloration good molecules serum together??? Plz tell me the time to use and cam i use both in the morning or twice the day, should use separate or mix I’m in great confusion 😕🥺 Hope you give reply of my question 🙋♀️ lot’s of love from Nepal 🇳🇵
Hey! :) That one contains already Niacinamide. So, either just use Good Molecules Discoloration Serum AM and/or PM or use TO Niacinamide in the AM and GM Discoloration Serum in the PM.
Hello! Thank you for the amazing video! My question is can i use the peeling solution with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid on the same routine? If not i was thinking of doing hyaluronic acid in the AM and niacinamide in the PM? My skin is combination-oily, this is my skincare routine and i would like to hear your opinion: 1.cetaphil cleanser 2. peeling solution twice a week 3.hyaluronic acid. 4.niacinamide. 5.the ordinary moisturiser. 6.cerave eye cream Im not sure if this is too much? Thank you in advance!!!
Hi, I just bought a few the ordinary products Can I pair it with this routine for dry skin? Glycolic acid toner > caffeine solution > hyaluronic acid > niacinamide > natural moisturing factor? Also I’m using lumispa cleanser , is it okay to continue using it?
What LumiSpa cleanser do you use? What are your skin concerns? The order of application looks good! :) How often you can use Glycolic Acid depends on your skin's needs! Start with once per day 2-3 times per week, and over time you can increase the frequency of it (if needed).
Hi!! Your videos have been super helpful to me! I do have question- would it be okay to use Derma E Vitamin C Radiance-Boosting Renewing Moisturizer along with the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%? I can't be sure since I know The Ordinary says there are conflicts putting vitamin C together with the Niacinamide. I have oily skin normally, I know I may not need a moisturizer all the time but I would love some advice!
well, now they say to avoid any vitamin c serum, but before, they said: "avoid pure vitamin c". Now the serum you use is a derivative. (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) So that it should be fine anyway.
Hi Melissa thank you so much for this video it helped me out, but could I ask you if this is a good routine for everyday: Morning - Ceravee SA Smoothing cleanser, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, and then simple hydrating gel cream Night - CeraVee SA Smoothing cleanser, The ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% masque (not every night maybe once or twice a week), The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% solution, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and then Simple hydrating gel cream
Overall the routine looks good. Do not use the Salicylic Acid Solution when using the Salicylic Acid Mask. Also only use the Salicylic Acid mask 1-2 times per week).
@@ql830 No, use both in the evening (ideally), but on different days. See here: How to Use The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution: ua-cam.com/video/PkQPgtklWCA/v-deo.html
Hello Maria. You can sue them together. However, I like to keep them separate; it tends to work better for my skin. I use Benzoyl Peroxide on my acne spots during the day and Niacinamide in the evening or morning. But generally, you need to test it and see what works best for you. And welcome 🥰
Hey there ^ . ^ I recently purchased the ordinary niacinamide, along with the FAB coconut cream. I noticed I am getting pilling mostly in one area of my face. Are these not good to use together? Do I need to use them seperately, or should I wait for them to fully dry and maybe I’m just layering them too quickly?
Hi Melissa! So can I use niacinamide 10 + zinc 1 and Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 everyday on the morning and night? And if yes which one should I use first?? Thank you. :)
Hi, Melissa 💚 I have a question, I read somewhere that you should not combine niacinamide with citric acid, and just saw that my moisturiser have citric acid in it, are the moisturiser okay to combine with the ordinary niacinamide? Also can I use the moisturiser with citric acid when using retinol 0.5% serum? Thank you for great videos!
Hi... Can I use niacinamide in two products? I use the cerave foaming cleanser (contains niacinamide) and follow it up with a niacinamide serum(10% niacinamide plus zinc)
Hi melissa! Plz tell me if this PM routine for acne is correct or not: 1) Cleanser 2) AHA BHA ( the ordinary twice a week) 3) niacinamide daily 4) Duac gel 5) aloe vera gel as a moisturiser. 6) rose water spray. Plzzzzzz reply
The setup looks a bit weird but apart from that, I recommend not using Duac Gel after the AHA+BHA peeling solution as that is a very potent combination. Instead, use it on days when not using the peeling solution. Also, twice a week is a bit too much, it works well at the beginning, but over time, you need to decrease the frequency. My advice would be like this: PM1 (once or twice a week): Cleanser Wait 5minutes for skin to dry AHA+BHA Peeling Solution Optional(Rose Water Spray, not sure if you really need that) Aloe Vera Gel PM2 (Rest of the week): Cleanser Niacinamide Duac Gel (Optional Aloe Vera, but also not sure if you need it in this routine my advice would be to first try it without) Also, keep in mind to adjust it accordingly to your needs. So if you feel that the frequency of Duac gel is too much reduced, the same goes for the peeling solution.
Hi Melissa. Thank you for such a clear explanation, but I have a question. I'm using the niacinamide and the azelaic acid, and I want to include hyaluronic acid cause I heard it works amazing with the niacinamide. Is it ok, or is it going to make any good to my skin?
Hello Vanessa, well if your skin needs hydration, it is excellent. But apart from that, you do not need it. :) The combination of Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide works well because Niacinamide can help skin water loss and increase hydration.
Good morning and thanks for the informative videos! Please I have a question. Do we apply the Niacinamide serum first and then the Argireline serum or vice versa? Thank you very much!
Hi, Melissa, can I mix the The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + 1% Zinc with my The Ordinary Moisturizer Natural Moisturizing Factor + HA for my night time routine? like this: AM: ☀️ Cleanser: Cetaphil The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% SPF PM: 🌙 Cetaphil Cleanser The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA The Ordinary Moisturizer Natural Moisturizing Factor + HA mixed with The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + 1% Zinc The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%
Hi Melissa, I just ordered the Niacinamide and the plant derived squalene, is it possible to mix both first in the hand, and then apply the mixed one to the face? many thanks in advance.
Hmm, I would layer them, considering that squalane is more of an oil. This way, the niacinamide can absorb better into the skin. Otherwise, it may hinder its absorption.
Hi Melissa, Thank you for yet another useful and informative video. We appreciate your hard work. I have a question. I purchased The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder to mix with The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (for hyperpigmentation). Can I still use a cleanser and sunscreen which contains niacinamide ?
the cleanser is not an issue since you wash it off, and the sunscreen usually does not contain much niacinamide, generally below 2%. Still, I suggest waiting a couple of minutes before applying it.
Thank you for the response. I decided to go with a different sunscreen that doesn't contain niacinamide, but I've already purchased the Cleanser, I'm glad it won't go to waste ! 😊
Hi Melissa, I have recently purchased The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. I use the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation which has a vitamin mix (Including vitamin C) - I don’t think it’s a strong amount. But is it okay to use them both together?

hi melissa! thank you for the awesome videos and channel! it’d be of big help to me if you could lend me your judgement on whether it’s ok to use the ordinary niacinamide serum + a moisturizer that contains magnesium ascorbyl phosphate but that isn’t its primary ingredient - the moisturizers name is muldream vegan green mild all in one moisturizer & the map is positioned in the middle of the ingredient list ! also do u think the map in that moisturizer would interact with the ordinary peptides serum :( if it helps here is the ingredients list of the moisturizer: Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Betula Alba Bark Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Triethylhexanoin, Glycereth-26, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Allantoin, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Panthenol, Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Ceramide NP, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Beta-Glucan, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Adenosine, C14-22 Alcohols, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Disodium EDTA, Water, Glucose
No, it has a high pH; therefore, it does not matter. Also, I doubt that it has much in there. So if it was marketed that way, then it is likely just to sell it ;)
Hi Melissa, can you use niacinamide+zinc with Matrixyl? I’m looking to use a serum that helps the appearance of bumps on the skin. Would you recommend this combination or anything else ? Thank you
Kojic soap + niacinamide + Avon moisture therapy is that okay for every day routine please give me some good advice for moisturizing cream, because I have pigmentation on long time ago.
Have you ever considered visiting a doctor to get hydroquinone or tretinoin? 🤔 If not, that would be my recommendation since if the pigmentation is still there after using these products for months, it's likely not going to get any better, and you need a prescription for it.
Thank you very much. My face becomes very oily with the ordinary moisturiser. When I do my am routine of Argeline , Buffett and ordinary moisturise. It looks oily and shiny. I use only two drops on my face and neck. I do not have a oily skin. It is combination skin. What do I do?
If you don't like the Ordinary moisturizer's finish, I recommend looking for a different moisturizer instead! :) I generally, do not recommend using the Ordinary moisturizer on oily skin since it can make it even oilier. However, I have a combination skin myself, and I like the Ordinary moisturizer. Have you tried not using the moisturizer, and just applied the serums and that's it? How does your skin feel and look after that?
Hi Mélissa Thank you for the vidéo For the caffeine ordinary; Can i use it thé morning and the evening After using thé niacinimide ordinay? My skin is dry, Can you suggest a routine with ordinary products, thank you for your help
Yes, you can! But The Ordinary Niacinamide is not the best option for dry skin, because of the zinc. I recommend applying a moisturizer afterwards. I like La Roche Posay Ultra Fluid. But there are of course many options. :) You can apply the caffeine solution before or after Niacinamide. I wanted to work in an exfoliant in my routine so would this be okay to do before applying the alpha arbutin and is it only safer to exfoliate one a week?
Thank you! :) Yes, if you need to exfoliate your skin, or want to give it a try - add one to your routine. You can include a leave-on exfoliant like Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid or like the Paula's Choice 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid). What exfoliant do you want to try? And should I be using this combination everyday at night? Plus I have the peeling mask aswell and I am planning on using no other product the day I use the AHA 30% (at ten days interval). Hey :) Have you already watched this video here: The Ordinary For Beginners: ua-cam.com/video/diaLVk_EsI4/v-deo.html You can have multiple AM or PM routines, that's fine too! :) The Ordinary Caffeine Solution, Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide can be used daily in the AM and/or PM. Use the Peeling Solution once per week (or less often), however, do not use Lactic Acid that same day when using the Peeling Solution. How often you can use Lactic Acid during the week depends on your skin. I recommend starting with 2-3 times per week and adjust the frequency based on what works best for you! :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you for the reply, I did watch all your videos but I couldn't find a proper sequence with the products I bought. For instance which product I should first and then which next and which after that. I was thinking of going about Caffeine solution then Niacinamide then Hyaluronic on a daily basis and the day I use Lactic acid or peeling solution I just use Hyaluronic afterwards. Is this sequence fine? And do you recommend some gap days between Lactic and Peeling solution?
Yes, but I recommend using Hyaluronic Acid before Niacinamide. Apart from that, it's okay. Regarding the gaps between lactic acid and the peeling solution, you need to test it. If you feel that your skin is sensitive, wait a couple of days in between, but if you do not have any issues, just go for it ;)

Hi I’ve always used vitamin c and niacinamide together, I recently purchased this brand and I have the 23% vitamin c & niacinamide but why can’t I use these together ? Online it has always told me that they’re the prefect combo. Also can I mix hyaluronic acid with the vitamin c in the morning?
It has something to do with The Ordinary Niacinamide formulation, which is very simple. They can interact with each other (when used with pure Vitamin C = Ascorbic Acid). Therefore, it may reduce the efficacy of both. So when using The Ordinary Niacinamide, it is recommended to use them at different times. And yes, Hyaluronic Acid can be used with Vitamin C; since you have the 23% suspension, you can use it before. But the 23% also contains Hyaluronic Acid spheres, so not sure if it is really needed to add other Hyaluronic Acid to it. But you can do it, of course. 😃 Also, it's best to use it in the evening since it is a pure Vitamin C formulation and should not be confused with a mixture of different ingredients such as Vitamin C and E recommended to use during the day because of the antioxidant boost it may give it. And if it is used in such high amounts, I often read in my comments that it led to dark patches while exposed to the sun, even if people used sunscreen, so I guess it has oxidized.
Hi again Melissa, is my routine correct to omit moisturiser? Cosrx salicylic acid cleanser, cosrx aha bhatoner, ordinary Niacinamide, cosrx snail mucin and ordinary rose hip oil?
Of course, if you do not have dry skin, there is no need for a moisturizer. Not sure where this is coming from that everyone thinks they need a moisturizer. Maybe because the industry wants you to buy more products ;)
Hey :) When washing off the mask with water and you than pat the skin dry, you can immediately move on to Niacinamide. I usually 'wait' 30 seconds to a minute in between :)
Hi Melissa! Thank you so much for this video, it probably saved me! I have a question though. I am going to be using azelaic acid and niacinamide combined (which I know is safe because of your videos) but I also bought vitamin c b5 + ha spheres 2%. This video says not to use them in the same routine. Can I use niacinamide and azelaic acid in the night and use vitamin c in the morning or does that count as the same routine? If I put vitamin c on every other day would that be better? Please let me know! Thank you so much.
Hello, The Ordinary says to not use their Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) products with their Niacinamide serum. So you can use one in the morning and the other in the evening. Still, they also recommend using their Vitamin C suspensions (the one you have) in the evening. From my experience, it is best not to use them during the day; I have had many people complaining in my comment section that it gave them dark patches when used during daytime. It may be because it had oxidized not sure... So I recommend alternating days in your evening skincare routine. Or use Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid during daytime (followed by sunscreen) and Vitamin C in the evening.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much for replying Melissa! This also probably saved my skin cause I was planning on using vitamin c in the morning and I have super super sensitive skin, so I probably would’ve been one of those people with a dark patch! Hi!! I have the axis-y dark spot correcting or the niacinamide serum, and I’m currently using clindamycin. Can I paid these 2 together? If so, how would I layer it?
Hello Melissa, does niacinamide work the same way if it's mixed with a moisturizer? I find that if I try to put it on without mixing first it irritates my face...(I only use 2 drops)
Can I use niacinamide toner with ordinary niacinamide Serum? And then use a moisturiser containing niacinamide? Will it increase the concentration and hamper my skin?
Hmm...it does increase the amount of Niacinamide that you put on your skin. However, you will only figure out how your skin response to it when trying it. It doesn't have to be too much for your skin, but it can. There isn't really a 'guideline' about how much Niacinamide is too much. This depends on your skin.
You can have a look at this video(ua-cam.com/video/diaLVk_EsI4/v-deo.html) to understand how to use them and how to build a routine based on your skin concerns and products. The Retinol treatment from the Inkey list looks like a serum-creamy texture so it should be applied as the last step when not using a moisturizer.

And yet to try. And I had always thought moisturizer is very important since it balances the oil( that's what I heard and hearing 😅)
Well, you may want to include a hydrating serum instead like Marine Hyaluronics (since it is very light and not too heavy or greasy) and use Niacinamide afterwards in your skincare routine. So that you have a hydrating serum in your morning and/or evening routine and then skip the moisturiser! Try it with and without your moisturiser and see what works and feels the best! :)
rly liked the video! I’m 18 and I bought the buffet, should I use it? also can my mom use it if she have no cleanser moisturizer and stuff but just want to get rid of wrinkles? thanks!
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet and is it problematic if she isn’t using sun screen? I heard that it makes the skin more sensitive? and thank you I love you channel!!!

Hi, I am buying a few needed products for my face on Sephora. I know some stuff like some acids and retinol, etc.. aren't supposed to be mixed so I need some help from you. Would you be kind enough to create a routine for me? I am planning on using retinol at night only. and, I also know the peeling solution and the toner are not to be used together or everyday. Here are the products: 1. The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution 2. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 3. The INKEY List Retinol Anti-Aging Serum 4. The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% 5. @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I will try coming up with a routine. Please tell me if I am wrong with the following; 1. AHA-BHA Peeling Solution can't be mixed with Glycolic toner, Argireline and Matrixyl 2. Niancinamide + Zinc can't be mixed with Ascrobic Acid + Alpha Arbutin 3. Again, Argireline and Matrixyl can't be used with Peeling solution and toner and Alpha Arbutin + Ascorbic Acid Now, here are the questions I have before I can make a routine for myself. Question 1 - Which of the following products (10 products) that I listed in my comments from 4 days ago can't/can be used with The Inkey List Retinol? Question 2 - Can I used the Caffeine Solution with all the 10 products? Is there no conflict? Do I have to use it in the between or at the very first or very last? Question 3 - Can I mix Argireline and Matrixyl at the same time on my face?
@@ne3737 Hey! :) Correct! I wouldn't recommend using the Inkey List Retinol when using the Peeling Solution nor the Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner as this can lead to irritation. Also, please do not use the Peeling Solution and The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner in the same routine as both exfoliate the skin. Please do not overdo it with exfoliating your skin. The Caffeine Solution does not conflict with any products, you can use it in any routine...use it as your first serum after cleansing/mask/toner steps. Niacinamide can be used daily, I recommend using it once per day in the beginning and if you need to and your skin tolerates it, you can use it twice per day as well :) Also, Niacinamide and Salicylic Acid can be used in the same routine :)

You can use them together, yes. But it's normal to have "some" breakouts during the first weeks since your skin needs to adjust to it. If it still happens after a month, something isn't right, and you have to change it.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thanks for your answer! 🥺🥺🥺one last question lol, is it necessary to put moisturizer/sunscreen after using niacinamide? is fresh aloe vera considered as a moisturizer?
@@nostalgiaxxx6133 No, it's not necessary since it is not making the skin sensitive to the sun. However, the skin cancer foundation recommends wearing an SPF of 15+ every day when exposed to the sun. It also can have some anti-aging benefits when used daily or regularly. So there are many benefits when doing it ;) And you only need a moisturizer when you have dry skin. Otherwise, it's not really needed, so I would instead stick to a good sunscreen during the day. And no, if you use pure aloe vera, it's more like Hyaluronic Acid, but it will also give you a protective layer when you have a fresh one. I still would use a lotion or cream afterwards when having dry skin. But it tends to work well on oily skin as a "moisturizer". The term moisturizer is very confusing. 😜
Can you tell me if I am able to use glycolic acid toner and retinol at the same time and how should I layer them? Should I put the toner on before the retinol or retinol first?
I do not recommend this combination. But you can try the Ordinary Glycolic Acid and the Granactive Retinoid. The Ordinary Example Regimen for Textural Irregularities | Full Demonstration: ua-cam.com/video/geF4SbZYuCw/v-deo.html

So I have this routine now:
Morning:
- cleanser
- caffeine solution
- argerline solution peptide
- alpha arbutin serum
- hyaluronic acid
- moisturizer
- spf 50
Night:
- cleanser
- rose water
- alpha arbutin
- niancinamide zinc
- retinol
- moisturizer
and once a week the AHA BHA > hyaluronic acid, niancinamide zinc, moisturizer.

- Retinol (See video below)
- (Optional) Moisturiser

The order of application looks good! :)
How often you can use Glycolic Acid depends on your skin's needs! Start with once per day 2-3 times per week, and over time you can increase the frequency of it (if needed).
thank you for this video 😭 btw can i wear vitamin c essence & TO niacinamide 10% + zinc 1% in one skincare routine?
Hey! :)
What Vitamin C Essence do you use?

Hi melissa! Plz tell me if this PM routine for acne is correct or not:
1) Cleanser
2) AHA BHA ( the ordinary twice a week)
3) niacinamide daily
4) Duac gel
5) aloe vera gel as a moisturiser.
My advice would be like this:
PM1 (once or twice a week):
Cleanser
Wait 5minutes for skin to dry
AHA+BHA Peeling Solution
Optional(Rose Water Spray, not sure if you really need that)
Aloe Vera Gel
PM2 (Rest of the week):
Cleanser
Niacinamide
Duac Gel
(Optional Aloe Vera, but also not sure if you need it in this routine my advice would be to first try it without)
Also, keep in mind to adjust it accordingly to your needs. So if you feel that the frequency of Duac gel is too much reduced, the same goes for the peeling solution.

Hello Vanessa, well if your skin needs hydration, it is excellent. But apart from that, you do not need it. :) The combination of Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide works well because Niacinamide can help skin water loss and increase hydration.

hi melissa! thank you for the awesome videos and channel! it’d be of big help to me if you could lend me your judgement on whether it’s ok to use the ordinary niacinamide serum + a moisturizer that contains magnesium ascorbyl phosphate but that isn’t its primary ingredient - the moisturizers name is muldream vegan green mild all in one moisturizer & the map is positioned in the middle of the ingredient list !
also do u think the map in that moisturizer would interact with the ordinary peptides serum :(
if it helps here is the ingredients list of the moisturizer:
Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Betula Alba Bark Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Triethylhexanoin, Glycereth-26, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Allantoin, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Panthenol, Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Ceramide NP, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Beta-Glucan, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Adenosine, C14-22 Alcohols, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Disodium EDTA, Water, Glucose
No, it has a high pH; therefore, it does not matter. Also, I doubt that it has much in there. So if it was marketed that way, then it is likely just to sell it ;)

Yes, you can! But The Ordinary Niacinamide is not the best option for dry skin, because of the zinc. I recommend applying a moisturizer afterwards.
I like La Roche Posay Ultra Fluid. But there are of course many options. :) You can apply the caffeine solution before or after Niacinamide.

Hey :)
Have you already watched this video here:
The Ordinary For Beginners: ua-cam.com/video/diaLVk_EsI4/v-deo.html
You can have multiple AM or PM routines, that's fine too! :)
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution, Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide can be used daily in the AM and/or PM.

Also, it's best to use it in the evening since it is a pure Vitamin C formulation and should not be confused with a mixture of different ingredients such as Vitamin C and E recommended to use during the day because of the antioxidant boost it may give it. And if it is used in such high amounts, I often read in my comments that it led to dark patches while exposed to the sun, even if people used sunscreen, so I guess it has oxidized.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you so much! You’re so helpful

Hello,
The Ordinary says to not use their Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) products with their Niacinamide serum.
It doesn't have to be too much for your skin, but it can. There isn't really a 'guideline' about how much Niacinamide is too much. This depends on your skin.
