A very sophisticated suspension system for the next overland expedition to Lululemon.
Pretty much the best way to explain this vehicle.
It’ll be worth 90k in 15 years too, plenty of Patagonia money for future hiking 🥾 gear

Glad to see Lexus has mastered connecting a car to a grill.
A grille that looks like a grill. I want to throw a couple of steaks on that expanse.
@@markmiller3279 Its the higher trim level, the Weber trim.
Love that grill. Better than Audi. Hey Toyota...get that infotainment fixed. GPS also...just put in a Garmin. 20 years of stupidity is enough. Are the brakes as good as a Porsche Cayenne ? and why not ???

Missed a chance to say "it's either going to turn heads or turn stomachs" :) Love the video and have been a long time fan of the channel. Keep it up!
Was thinking the same thing!
I hate repeating myself, but you guys make some of the best car review videos on UA-cam. Can't wait to see how reliable this gen is so I can hopefully buy one in 15 years.
Don’t think this will hold a finger in reliability to an actual LX
Needs more Grille. I can still see a Car there.
Can't BBQ pedestrians on a sub-par grille
Look, it’s a car attached to a grille. Make way.
They must have considered having a grill that swept back to the front doors, but they tempered their desires.
The 2nd row lack of everything is a major deal breaker for a luxury suv like that
I'd contend that the lack of front seat massagers is an even bigger deal breaker. I don't know what the buyer demographics are for this thing, but I'd guess that it's double income no kids. Maybe they get used as family haulers, but if that were the customer base, I'd expect Lexus would have made it more kid friendly. Lexus listens to customers, unlike BMW. Also unlike BMW, Lexus respects the hardcore "Lexus or nothing" early adopter. BMW has almost completely abandoned the owners who bought them in the '70's when they were a boutique brand for enthusiasts. I'm one of those BMW guys, and apart from the M2 CS, (which is basically unobtainium) they've got nothing that even remotely interests me.
The inability to move the 2nd row says it all.
@@dougrobinson8602 doug .there are other trim levels with 7 seats you know that right
@@dougrobinson8602 I'd bet 75%+ of buyers have kids but who knows besides Lexus.
Agreed on BMW they never figured out how to bring driver involvement and steering feel back after moving to the F series circa 2011
This specific spec is just a luxury one. The normal lx will obviously be the bulk of the sales, just like few people buy gls Maybach. It's very rare to spec a 4 Seater suv. I would. I don't ever intend to have kids and 4 people is the most I drive with. But it's not a normal spec and can hurt resale value.
Hank Hill is sweating seeing that much grille in one place

I'm just in LOVE with how deep you guys go into analyzing these vehicles.
Drove an LX600 (F-sport) today with the consideration of purchasing, which landed me here. Once again, another stellar (and spot-on) analysis of this vehicle gentlemen, well done. I made the comment to the salesman the secondary screen appeared to be an after thought. Overall though, I really enjoyed the ride quality of it. In a bizarre way, I felt it was a splendid combination of my LC500 and my 10 year old 200 Series Land Cruiser that this would be replacing. I'm a long time Toyota/Lexus fan, reliability and resale ranks very high in my book for this type of vehicle. It will be an investment, but if history repeats itself, buying a Toyota/Lexus is far less risky. Thanks again for the input/review.
As a salesperson for the Lexus brand, reliability has been the strongest selling point in my career. But recently, with the introduction of the NX and LX, I’ve had to foreshadow my clients experience with, “you are buying a brand new, fully redesigned vehicle, therefore, you are agreeing to be a test subject for the next several months while Lexus works out all the kinks found from real world testing. You will probably encounter an issue or some idiosyncrasies within the first year of ownership, but we are here to help you because we want you to have the best ownership experience possible.” Instilling patience in my guests has been the best method to maintain loyalty to the Lexus brand.
Some guys in the Middle East are definitely already working on a V8 swap for this thing.

Great review, interesting the point made a few times about some brands making disposable vehicles. A video comparing build quality, price and buyer would be interesting. If you sit in a 2010 Lexus LX everything is tight and more importantly functions as intended even at 200,000 miles and several owners. A 2010 Escalade not only feels really cheap with creaks, rattles etc, but will most certainly be falling apart at 200,000 miles. I feel the same about a 2022 Escalade, although the Lexus is more modest the Escalade will feel dated/cheap in 2032. .
I agree. I drove a 2018 Tahoe last year ( 3 yrs old at that point) with 50K miles and I already started to hear rattles/creaks from the interior. Not a lot, but enough to be dissapointed
I have 120k on my 2011 lx. Test drove several cars last week and once I got back in my LX to drive home I appreciated it so much more. Everything feels so solid, as you said no rattles no squeaks. Just a Japanese tank that starts everytime.
Completely agree we have a 11 lx570 with 118k miles and drives like it did when new. Have rented plenty of American 3 row SUVs when we do road trips and all of them have rattles with 20 to 30k miles. When we are ready for the next one would be a straight drive to the lexus dealer for a new unit.
The lx 600 is higher quality than anything else in its class, but from a luxury car standpoint it’s absolutely garbage. The previous lx570 was much nicer.
On the other hand anything you put in the door pockets rattle on this when new because it's all plastic, in my €25k Skoda they're lined with fabric to stop stuff from rattling around. Lexus might still make (more) reliable (than average) vehicles, but they're lagging way behind in perceived quality and everyday usability especially when compared to their German rivals at the same price point.
This is why I respect this channel because your criticism is straightforward and honest as it can be and that's all you can hope for for channel that reviews cars
You guys are honest and awesome. Great content.
A lot of those 10 speed issues are the same issues the toyota 8 speed had when it launched. It took at least 2 years to get it fixed and at least Toyota "secretly" offered a transmission ecu reflash.
I remember that. Our highlander had terrible shifting issues with the 8 speed. Had to track down the service bulletin myself to get them to reflash and fix the problem. Even then the dealership asked me how I knew this fix existed and I shouldn’t have had access to this information…
@@ajammu38 the dealership should have ask himself the question of why didn’t we know about the fix
How do you build a 130,000$ luxury vehicle and put a low end stereo in it? Watching this channel, it becomes clear that consumers don't seem to care about the audio experience anymore. As someone who does care, I am glad that you guys take the time to mention audio in your reviews.
Another top quality video. We should all be thankful that mark and Jack put the time and effort that they do into making this type of content.
I bought one and absolutely love it. To each there own. Im very happy with mine.
Always great and thoughtful reviews:)! For now I’ll keep my 2019 LX. Oh!…the vehicle I own goes off road twice a week.
I wish the US would receive the more simplistic Land Cruiser. I would love one of those especially with a diesel, and I wouldn’t feel bad about throwing a surf board on the roof.
They didn't sell enough, and the price was getting too close to the Lexus. I think it made sense to just sell the Lexus variant. A base trim model is pretty close to the late Land Cruiser.
Yeah thats what everyone american is saying, but even if Toyota did release it, nobody would buy them. Nobody is going to be paying $65-70k for a SUV with cloth seats and am/fm radio even if it does have a v8 diesel.
Also there was a problem of dealer experience for someone dishing out 80k for a SUV. The Land Cruiser was kind of an oddball in the US. The LX is just better suited for the market.
It's time they made a retro Land Cruiser, like the old Jeep styled Cruisers, to compete with the Bronco.
@@dr.emilschaffhausen4683 they kinda did, but too soon with the FJ Cruiser lol. They could just import the 71 Series to the US that comes with the 4.0 V6. But I guess they dont want to hurt the 4Runner sales.

Unbelievably objective, fair and honest review ... excellent job
Thank you for that review... 👌
Great points on this review👍🏻
It's always reliability. That's the only reason people go with an lx. The car has always been behind everywhere else.
Lexus fan boys dismiss everything wrong with this truck because it's reliable. Imo Lexus rests on it's laurels way too much knowing they don't have to compete on a German level because of that.
And what’s wrong with reliability being the focal point of this car. There’s a reason these thrive in Australia and Middle East because there’s a market that prioritizes reliability over gimmicky features. It’s nowhere close to Germans in tech, but excels in long term ownership and owners satisfaction, and there’s a big demand for that here in the Middle East you can’t have both.
@@tygervoods8358 it’s $130k tho
@@tygervoods8358 nothing wrong at all. My main issue is that Lexus is lazy. Look at the aging RX. I mean they haven't even removed that stupid trackpad yet. I test drove the RX before I bought my X5. Great Video Guys. keep it up !!
The land cruiser has lockers front, center and rear. Just Lexus said no to them so it isn't in the states. You CAN however order them and they fit right in since they are factory components. This is the same thing that happened with the prior gen, it had more goodies in japan but they wouldn't send the best version to the states.
The top of the center stack does actually look like an afterthought, there is better integration in 25k cars
Everyone hated the old dual display in the QX80 and Toyota goes and copies it.
Great video guys!
I don’t think people give enough consideration to the audio testing done by this channel. Since so much time in my car is listening to music as I drive real testing of how that will sound is important to me. Thanks Mark and Jack for doing this when other channels treat sound quality in such a cursory manner.
Can we get a video about the Volvo’s issues?
well, its a volvo, that explains it all... also he will have the same issues with BMW... go Japanese, or go back to the dealer for repairs lol
@Harmon1ca In savagegeese's stream Wednesday night Mark noted that the powertrain was a major issue. An I4/turbo/supercharger/electric hybrid pushing a heavy SUV is a recipe for trouble. Even Toyota might have a hard time making an engine like that reliable!

@@nalong55 You can't just say Japanese=reliable...Subaru still exists (and technically Mitsubishi too).
@@MegaNardman Correct, I am meaning more so Honda/Toyota, and to a lesser extent, Nissan. Mitsubishi and Subaru are OK but I would be weary once they tick past 100k miles, Mits has issues with quality, which Subaru has the dreaded flat 4 engine design, which ALWAYS fails prematurely.
It's unbelievable that in this day and age, with that much real estate available inside, that the interior design and utility are so disjointed and lack luster. No design language on the inside, and a loud, shouting one outside
Agree about the interior, but I kinda feel like without that grill, there's not much of a language outside either.

Everyone lost their minds on how amazing the tundra/sequoia/LX redesign was, but tbh when I saw this I saw rushed and half assed in all 3 vehicles. So many things were afterthought or last minute changes, I can almost guarantee we have an emergency refresh on at least the two SUVs for 2023, but we could see one for the tundra too

I'm still annoyed at why the Sequoia has better features on paper and bang for your buck than this. Its almost like they didn't want this to do better. No disconnecting sway bars, no panoramic sunroof, no locking diffs (although MTS is better IMO). No hybrid. The sequoia makes 100ftlbs more in torque given that its a hybrid.

It’s not for everyone. We are welcoming a new lx600 to the family at the end of this month at the price of $111k. We are keeping our old 2013 lx570 which has had zero issues. We have also owned a 2001 lx470 which was traded towards the 2013, also had zero issues. Lexus has always felt dated in terms of technology, but we don’t mind it. Is it overpriced? Yes, but most cars are nowadays. We keep our vehicles long term, and we don’t care about fancy bells and whistles. Hopefully the new lx will be as reliable as the others have been. I agree with the center stack, I don’t like it just from looking at it. Everyone made fun of the LX570 and how old the tech was and how it looked, now I appreciate it more. Time to buy a low mileage 2021 LX570. Of course Toyota doesn’t have an off-road model of it which is sad, for a supposedly “rugged off-road vehicle” based on the landcruiser it has low ground clearance and front bumper that will rip off when you go off-road.

Is the grille large enough to buldoze pesky pesants out of left lane to settle in for 50mph cruise?
The biggest flaw in the 2022 LX is that it will be a very low distribution model unlike the 80, 100, and 200 series Land Cruisers and LXs. Toyota might sell a couple thousand a year. Instead of being a vibrant parts market, after a few years parts will be impossible to find.
Mechanical stuff is common. Toyota will probably run with this same platform for a long time. If you cannot buy a new grill, that would be a plus for the rest of us. The family truckster for 2022, it’s so comically proportioned that they should have Chevy Chase doing the first commercials.
Land cruiser still exists just not in NA
This drivetrain is on the new Land Cruiser, Tundra, and Sequoia. Those last two are volume sellers, so there shouldn’t be any issues with parts being “…impossible to find”.
Since when does Mark own an x7? Is there a video coming soon on it?
He teased on UA-cam that he went back to BMW and he'll make a video why. I don't blame him. They've been putting out amazing SUVs recently.
This is such a great assessment of this vehicle. I bought an LX because I want Toyota reliability juxtaposed with luxury, and I do take Mine off-roading.
I wish Lexus would understand that mindset and build a Sequoia-“Max” or Grand Highlander “Max” vehicle to fit this slot of Ultra Luxury CSUV that they are trying to coerce the LX into being. Theres a reason this product isn’t working for Lexus at the moment. They are trying to make it go through a trans stage of life that is diametrically opposed to its original intention.
Would be no different than trying to turn a Ford Bronco into a Ford escape… wait for has already done that with the poor bronco sport
The customer base is Asia and Middle East, this is super popular there for its reliability in the desert heat
