Rouleau straps were one of the techniques set for the contestants in the Great British Sewing Bee 2013.
The method shown in this video is taken from a book published by Singer in the 1920s. No special equipment is needed.
The strap is pulled the right way round with a piece of cord. Two ways doing this are shown. To give the strap extra strength, use the first method shown and leave the cord inside the finished strap: if a cotton cord is used, make sure that it has been washed first to prevent shrinkage. - Навчання та стиль
One of the best, if not the best, video about how to sew rouleau straps. THANK YOU!!! ❤
Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial.
I want to make my own wedding dress in the future and with selfmade cord loops.
This is the first video where it shows very easy and clearly how to make cord loops.
I liked your video.
Fantastic clear video - my Granny taught me how to do this when I was about 9. I have never seen anyone else use this method before or since. Thank you!
only just acquired an old vintage singer 1911 sewing machine so these tutorials are perfect keep showing different tutorials please
You are a very good teacher.
Thank you for the great video. Very well explained and demonstrated. And you have such a cute voice!
I have a Singer 201-2 that was made June 13, 1950 and I love your demonstration of the cording. That's a great way to do straps. Thank you for sharing. By the way I am a new subbie.
Thank you for this video. I had a little trouble in the beginning but was able to make many great baby bootie shoelaces some with cord in and some without. I used the zipper foot which made everything easier.
Hello Paul, Yes you can get piping or cording feet, but I did not use one for this strap because the line of stitching would have been too close to the cord to allow the strap to be turned the other way round easily. When pulling it through there needs to be room not only for the cord inside, but also for both seam allowances on the inside.
Very helpful and such an easy method! Thankyou.
Thank you so much for the video,! Love your machine , too!
That's ingeniously!
Great tutorial!
Wow! Fantastic technique!nThank you!
Great! Thank you.
Im so confused on how you make it start going inside out, and it was done off camera so i couldnt see.
Hi I have a question on which end I should pull if I want to have a cord with the rouleau strap. Should I pull the end with stitches on the cord or the other end, thanks
Those who has thum down do you have better idea how to do this ?????
Hello 4vrceltic, Please visit my blog Lizzie Lenard Vintage Sewing and read the post of 20th March 2013. You will also see this machine in other videos on this channel.
💚💛💗
can you not get a piping foot for these old singers?
My powers of persuasion involved begging and pleading, cursing, broken promises, songs and dancing, and a sternly-worded letter. To no avail, alas and alack!
