    I purposely never make skinny straps. I never knew how. But combine these straps with the tassels you showed us how to make on another video and … well, mind blown! 🤯🤯🤯 Thank you. ❤

    I have to tell you that as I was successfully pulling my first strap off the tube, I heard you say “leave a comment below and let me know how you make your straps”. I started laughing and said out loud to you on my iPad “ I don’t make straps, because I never had anyone show me this technique!” 😂. I am making medieval style dresses for 4 granddaughters and got panicky until I found you on UA-cam. Thank you for such a clear and concise lesson on this technique. I’m no longer afraid! God Bless!

      @@NotchesSewing I've watched 3 already! Thank you for helping me find solutions to problems that made sewing more of a chore than a joy. My confidence in my ability to sew really dipped when I'd get stuck on certain steps.

    • @NotchesSewing

      Thank you for watching. Sewing is all about practice. It’s impossible to sew anything perfectly without practice and learning to control your machine and fabric and not letting it control you! Always test on scraps with anything you’re unsure of. Those you can just toss away instead of unpicking your project and possible damaging your fabric. BUT if you have to unpick, just take a deep breath and speak nicely to your project 😄. Let me know if there’s anything else you need tips on.
      Cheers

    This tutorial is pure gold.
    I've used tubes with sticks inside before, and I have a loop turner for really thin ones, but I never thought to combine them. I've turned two of my six straps with just a loop turner before rewatching the tutorial. Luckily my reusable metal straw was narrow enough for my knit straps, and this is much, much easier!

    Such a great, straight to the point tutorial. Thank you so much for this. I have material (but no pattern...gulp!) to make a simple daywear camisole top. Easy... yeah right!! Procrastination immediately set in with spaghetti straps being the main culprit but I feel a little more confident now. Thank you. I also really warmed to the fact that you've replied to so many comments. Though time consuming, it's an extra very thoughtful touch & a warranted subscription.

      Thanks so much for your kind words.🙏. Sure beats being called a joke…🤣Practice on some short scraps and you’ll soon get the hang of it. I actually dislike turning any type of tube so if there is an easier way, I try to share it. Have a look at my Tube turner video for some more hints. Thanks for noticing my replies. You are correct, it is very time consuming but it’s all about community. It you took the time out of your day to comment, it’s the least I can do. Mam I loved your video. Very easy to understand.i am making chair cusions ,want to make a spaghetti ties but its a canvas fabric I could not turn in side out even w/ a loop turner( because of the thickness of fabric. )Can you please help me on this problem?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 роки тому

      Hi Verona, it would be almost impossible to make skinny ties from canvas. You are better to cut the fabric 4x the final width you want and press into long strips and topstitch on each side. Press in half first to make crease, then turn the side edges in to meet in the centre and then match the folded edges.

    Amazing video. I have been having trouble making my straps so hopefully this will help me out. One question tho, my fabric keeps fraying at the end (I am using a crepe back satin fabric) how can I prevent it from fraying so much?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. Try a few different things on some scrap and see what works best . Cut with pinking shears, add Fray stop along edges before turning over, stitch a couple more lines along the seam or serge your edges before turning. Hope this helps. Cheers!

    Super video. What kind of tape are you using as a guide? My machine in mainly plastic so that would be fantastic, I can't use those nice magnetic ones.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  3 роки тому

      Thank you😊. You can find a link to purchase the mounting tape in the description of the video. Let me know how you go with your skinny straps. Please check out my video on making a tube turner. You will find that helpful too. Thanks for watching🙏

    On the last one could we trim off most of the seam allowance for less bulk or does that edge give the strap more form?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  2 роки тому

      I wouldn’t trim to give it more strength and body. If there is too little seam inside, it will fray more easily and will be hard to fix. Always make a couple from scrap to see what look you like best. Thanks for watching.

    I can not WAIT to try this!! I have a few questions: What stitch length are you using on your industrial straight stitch? What type of thread, also, for this stretch satin? And .. is it a size 80/12 or 90/14 needle? Followed your page because this tutorial was so perfect, I'm sure there must be more great tips and I can't wait to browse your page to find them

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! I used a size 12 needle stitch length 2.5. The finer the fabric the easier it will be to turn.

    • @carregriffin2343
      @carregriffin2343 5 місяців тому

      @NotchesSewing thanks! Any special thread needed?

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  5 місяців тому +1

      oops sorry forgot to answer that. I just used normal polyester thread. As I do not quilt, I rarely use all cotton thread.
