Disclaimer: Everything was bought by me.
I am a person who really really really wants to be a fashion designer when i get older adn i have tryed to sew and use elastic but i havent had much success, watching this video gave me hope in my mind and heart that i can do it and all i need to do is just work at it to accomplish. Thankyou very very much .
You just saved my life I think. I've been wondering how to do all of these for a while but didn't have a clue where to start. Thank you so much!!
ive only taken up sewing this pandemic and i gotta say this is probably one of the most comprehensive no bs tutorial on elastics thats very easy to understand. many thanks!
From an almost 27yr peruvian american woman, good luck, you can do it!!
Thank you~ that would help me since I don't take sewing lessons. It looks hard by watching but I think when I watch and do it it would be a lot easier
thank you, THANK You! THANK YOU! great information without the need to fast-forward thru all the unnecessary information! I love to sew. I used to do all hand sewing. I got to a point where I no longer had the will to sew but still had the desire to create. So, I bought a sewing machine. Now I never want to stop!
First, I just winged it. Then I started watching UA-cam videos...nothing is worse than listening to LONG DRAWN-OUT LECTURES on how to do something! it's actually gives me a type of "road rage".
I don't act out the behavior I just feel it.
Yes, I subscribed ... I am going to you from now on! 😍😉🤗 😊😌
I'm a sewing teacher and your elastic sewing video is great! My students definitely need to watch it.

I just recently bought a new sewing machine because my old one is not even worth fixing because it was so cheap.
I love pretty much every video that you've posted because it's helped me learn something even if it was just a little bit.
this is so awesome! very informative and easy to understand.. i love your sewing tutorials.. they make sewing seem not scary.. i'm still afraid of my machine but your tips help make hand sewing a little bit easier.. i'm hoping to get over my machine phobias, and with every video i watch i feel like i can do it! thank you! please don't stop! you're a really great teacher!!
I love that you talked fast! Sometimes I think that videos are too long and drawn out. You kept my interest, and I believe that your fast talking helped me to not leave before you were done. Thanx for sharing your sewing techniques. I look forward to finding more!
You are an amazingly gifted teacher. Straight to the point, easy to listen to and understand. You clearly know your stuff! I'm going to follow your videos ;) I'm still learning to sew and your style of teaching is PERFECT for me! THANKS!
Love that you talk fast, usually I'm having to speed through the tutorial cause they drag on forever. Thank you,
I appreciate all the techniques you gave. You got right to the point, spoke good english where I could understand you, the demonstrations were wonderful and I will now subscribe.
Thank you for making this video! I am a big girl and I don't have money to buy clothing, but my bf just got me a sewing machine for my birthday and I have LOTS of fabric and stuff leftover from an attempt to learn to sew when I was in high school!
This is one of the videos which are concise without unnecessary rantings. Straight to the point and very very informative!
Thank you so very much for your video!
Kickin. Straight to the point with no messing around and a humor to boot.
A little faster than I am accustomed to but very informative! Good job! Thanks for making.
Using elastic thread never even crossed my mind. Thank you so much, learning that helped me solve questions for like three different projects I was stuck on!
Thank you from a 37 year old peruvian woman learning how to sew, you are great!
Thanks for showing us this, I know how to sew but it is always nice to see it done right so I can follow it. Sue from Texas.
YOU'RE SO SMART o.O I was seriously blown away... Usually when I watch UA-cam videos, I only pay half attention because I'm multitasking but WOW... You are just so smart :D
Whaoo!! You are so amazing! Thank you so so much for sharing this. I appreciate these sewing videos so much because you pay to learn these techniques in school but you share this with us for free. Thank you!!
Than-you for this. Ive been a bit stuck on how to use elastic for a project I'm doing. I now have some great ideas to try.
excellent video. I just learned about elastic thread from you today. I am a home sewer and senior . you have taught me so much more than I learned in home ec back in 1976. it just proved that you are never too old to learn something new every day. thanks again for teaching me something new, simple and valuable timesaving.

Best elastic tutorial EVER, thank you so much. Clear instructions and step by step proceedings from beginning to beautiful end result. I am so impressed how composed, knowledgeable, and articulate this tutorial is, GREAT JOB
I have always wondered how to properly put in an elastic the basic I can do but the shearing is so easy to do thanks to you!
Your amazing! I'm part of quite a large cosplay group and also a dance company all the costumes are so expensive and I'm not to bad on a sewing machine so I said I'd make the costumes. Your videos have always helped me with things, like collar making, raw edges or just anything that I'd a but rusty on. THANK YOU :D
Thank you! i LOVE your sewing videos, especially these tips for beginners because my grandma doesnt want to teach me so I have to learn on my own. Please make more of these tutorials!!!
All I gotta say is: I love you!! I'm always doing random things and I can always find advice from your videos!! My one stop shop!! Love ya!!
Thank you from a 56 year old half Native American woman!! I didn't know how easy they were to do!!
I have always wanted to these techniques! I plan on making lots of spring/summer looks & a duvet!!
Ty so much for doing this :)
Thank you so much! I'm a novice, and I have to make my own costumes for dance performances, and I'm so happy to have found a video with multiple techniques that are explained so clearly :) You're awesome!
Thank you thank you thank you...I cut a dress recently because it was obviously from way back in the days (my great grandma gave me) with ruffles from top to bottom. This isn't our (me and my sis) kind of style but I was inspired by it the other day to make a ruffled top. So snip snip. But then I realized I could make a ruffled skirt with the last two ruffles I had cut off to make the top. I was planning to use elastic and just wig it and pray it comes out well but now I have this video!
you inspire me so much! I want to make my own clothes for so long! If I find a nice peace of fabric, I try something out using your tutorials.
Wow! Very helpful! I have always had a problem with elastic. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the tutorial. I can all but 2 of the 7. I am going to challenge myself to all soon.
The scrunchie idea is a great idea for shoulder straps that you require stretch and width in. I've been making hair scrunchies forever and never thought to use that same technique for shoulder straps!
OMG!! I wish I found you before I added some elastic to some jeans , I add some extra fabric on the side of each pants, and I did a basic stitch, this is a game changer for me. Thank you...
Thank you so much ! I have been watching lots of videos on shirring without a gathering foot and your technique was the only one that worked for me. Thanks
So many videos! I went from your newest video to another headband video to this!
Very, very good video tutorial! You zoomed in on the details and were extremely clear in your verbal instruction. I also like that you included examples of how the techniques could be used in actual garments. Great job - and thank you very much!
I wish i had seen your video a few months ago. So many questions have been answered! I loved that in the end you presented examples of real clothes!
This video just showed up so I figured I'd watch it cause you can never having too many sewing tips! I love all of these and can't wait to try em out!! Especially the last one! o:
This is great! I'm really learning a lot from your sewing basics videos. Keep them up. Lots of love.
i love how you teach us the basics before you go onto other things. I feel like you're my teacher or something, and I'm a young grasshopper
Excellent tutorial - I thought I knew it all but didn't remember about hand winding elastic onto bobbin so good job I decided to look on You Tube before starting! Thank you so much!
Excellent video! I like that you kept the pace quick and to the point. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial! A lot of info...Quick and easy! I like that it goes fast, you can always PAUSE the explaination. When tutorials go too slowly, I'm clicking out looking for something quicker! I have favorite sheets still in good shape but the fitted ones need the elastic refreshed...this was perfect! Several good posibilities for what I need! Thanks, xop
I love this video ! It's so informative and I love how you show the use of the technique in actual clothes. Thank you for creating such a helpful video :).
"Beginners need to measure before you start b.s'ing your stuff" LOL Wise words! great vid, I am teaching myself the basics and your clip was very clear and concise. Thanks.
great video -- I especially like how you explain how the techniques differ and when you want to use them. Thanks!
I love the tutorial. I usually get really bored with sewing tutorials because they are really slow and never seem to get to the point. Yours it easy, simple and really useful. I am not a native English speaker so I can assure you that you don't talk to fast, otherwise I would not be able to understand you.
I've been wanting to learn how to sew elastic for a long time and you had it all here for me....thanks!!!
You're a lifesaver, been searching for videos because I want to make skirts and trousers for my Lil girl and I want them to stretch on waist
thank you for giving us examples of garments that have those types of elastics :) very helpful
I love your tutorials. Tutorials specifically for sewing basics are so helpful. Thank you!
I can never get over how fabulous your red dress turned out.
this is one of the best, most informative sewing videos I've ever seen. Thank you!
Had a hard time with this at first and have no reason why. You video helped so much. Thanks!!
Fantastic tutorial! Great voice, easy to understand, and very informative
I love the 2nd one of how to zig zag it and then fold it over and stitch again. I made my first maxi skirt (my first anything actually) last night and stitched my hem and then pushed the elastic through. Because of it being a maxi skirt, I had a ton of material to push the elastic through so it would look pleated and it took me over an hour! I was so frustrated. This seems much easier.
OMG! You make it look so easy! Great video! I've sewn by hand for years and recently bought my first machine... This video was VERY helpful!
It's people like you that makes UA-cam so great! Thank you so much for sharing! I've used a couple of the techniques but I just learned a lot more! I love your tutorials!!:-)
Thank you so much for this! I just started sewing and am having a very hard time with elastics. This will help a lot!
Thank you for this Tut! It's so nice to have a bunch of different elastic techniques together like this. I foresee using your video for reference in designing costumes/garb.
Great idea on how to properly fit elastic. Thanks for sharing.
WOooo, that's so complete and useful 8D
Thank you very much ~
I feel a little more like a pro with those techniques and examples ~
WOW, such an amazing and complete explanation video is a go-go to my favorites!!!!!!!!!!!
You know I am trying it now. Hope it turns out very well.. Will keep updated. Sewing is not difficult if you learn and watch videos.
Brilliant. Fast and straight to the point. Very clear aswell. Loved it.
Whats great about these is even though you just used them for training purposes, you can reuse them just by dying them so the stitching doesnt look so odd :) btw love your tutorials
Thank you so much for doing this tutorial I really learned a lot from it. But I was looking for a tutorial on how to use elastic to sew on some pockets on a purse I am making. None of your tutorial helped with that but it was helpful with other things. Hopefully you'll make another tutorial addressing my issue. Surely I am not the only one needing to learn how to put an elastic pocket on a purse. Again Thank you so much for sharing.
Have a nice day !!!
Thank you. Nice and easy steps without making the video lengthy!
absolutly brilliant tutorial. quick. informative. accurate and I needed this so badly thank you
glad I found this. I needed to relearn techniques for sewing with elastics
7 techniques. straight to the point, and actually helpful. thank you🙏
love this video. all the information you need without making it 15 minutes lol straight to the point yet detailed. the only question, how many more inches should you add to fabric if you plan on elastic thread shirring?
this is inspiring

Very helpful video I learned more here than in class!
Thank you for sharing and it is great. Wish you and your family all the best.
Excellent! I wish I had looked at this before taking all the old elastic out!
OMG!!! I just love this type of videos because I will like to learn how to sew clothes because they are just so expensive... so thanks for all the tips and i will try to do this!! =)
I really appreciate you making this video! Thank you so much. It'll be a quick and useful future guide.
I've only worked with elastic on one gathered skirt's waistband so far, and it was quite painful. :( I didn't use a long enough strip of elastic, so the first time I tried on the skirt it felt like it was trying to slice me in half! Lol! And then the elastic somehow twisted up inside its channel and wasn't flat anymore...
Thanks a bunch. You were a great help.
I really wanted to know how you did that shirring thing. Thanks again!
Thank you... You're a life saver 😘😘 I've been looking for this method NOT the safety pins thingy... Thank u so much... Appreciates this....
Wow. Great video. Whew. A ton of information that I was looking for in one high-speed video. I'm out of breath, Hahaha.
Fantastic. Thanks for posting this.
:D you just taught me how to make a sleeve(arm) garter for my Steampunk cosplay. I am so very thankful!!
Great tutorial! I am now no longer afraid of elastic!
You don't talk too fast. I hate tutorials that drag on and on. This was a perfect video. :)
thank you was very informative, and I got the project done that I needed done. I am very new to sewing and I am self learning by youtube videos, and this helped, thank you once again
I'm so happy we're all getting back into this KL groove.
Greetings! Boy your good. You talk fairly fast but I can understand every word. New to sewing. Thanks very much. Merry Christmas

You should put all the basics videos in a "Basics" playlist?
Would be super handy for newbies :) Nice tutorial!
