    Hey, looks like in 7 years nobody has come up with a better faux wall! Thanks for this, I really needed a faux wood wall for my new living space and there was nothing good out there on it!

    LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Other people make the look very flat and cartoony, but THIS! It’s exactly the technique I was looking for! I’m definitely doing this rather than spending more money than I’d prefer on actual wood planks! Thank you for sharing!

    Truly a great wall! You inspired me to do my own. I painted a wall in my living room. I used a black base and two shades of gray as the top coats. I mixed the board lengths and widths. However it turned out a little harsh to suit my wife and I. So I made a chocolate brown wash and painted over everything. This was what it needed. It softened enough to please us. I then polyurethane'ed and we're done. Much of my wall looks more "space-like" in nature than wood grain. My wife, son, and I sit and look at the wall for hours and have a lot of fun "seeing" images our eyes try to find in the painted boards. We see comets, galaxies, heads of dogs, lions, and men/women, trees blowing in the wind, etc. Too much to describe. And of course some wood grain (go figure :) ). Thanks for the instruction and inspiration! Nonamegiven.

    Beautiful! I have a large wall in my living room & bedroom & have been looking at some really time consuming or expensive ideas to treat it, from buying faux brick & painting over it to age it, to making paper bag planks. This project involves a couple tools & paint! Now, I just need to pick out my colors! 🎨😊

    Latex paint, what type flat, eggshell, semi gloss? Does it matter when using a glaze?

  • @janetmccool3624
    @janetmccool3624 5 років тому

    WOW!! what a great instructional video! Beautiful job. Do you think using flotrol as a paint medium instead of purchasing glaze would work as well? I have a gallon of it.

    • @EarthAltar
      @EarthAltar 5 років тому

      Flotrol is good to slow the drying time of latex paint especially when sprayed to prevent orange peel. I've never used it as a glaze. It might work but most glaze is mixed 4:1 (4 prts glaze, 1 prt paint) which really slows the drying time to allow you to achieve the desired effect, but still maintain the consistency of paint. 4:1 with flotrol might be like trying to paint with water. Use the glaze for faux, and flotrol for your sprayed latex, or brushed if you're not a pro.

    I want to paint a center block wall. I'm wondering what material I should use to smoth out the center blocks, before I paint them. Not sure if I should use sheet rock mudd or plaster or cement leveler? Any suggestions?

  • @jerrey04
    @jerrey04 7 років тому

    I was so excited to do this project. I'm at a stand still due to my frog tape not wanting to stick to the wall. It has been cured about two months now. I believe it is due to the chalk. I've got to figure out how to do this without chalk lines. Maybe pencil?

    • @arteesta952
      @arteesta952  7 років тому +1

      Yes jerrey04 - I use a watercolor pencil. It wipes off with a wet paper towel or dissolves right into your wet paint.

  • @tegmapat11

    I love it! Because of the depth of the windows, I'm wondering if this is a basement apartment? What I want to know is, can this be done on basement walls made of rough cement block?

    • @arteesta952
      @arteesta952  6 років тому

      No, it's not a basement. If the cement is a solid wall of cement and not masonry brick, yes you sure can! In fact if there are any pits in the cement then it would translate as knots in the "wood".....I think it would be a GREAT substrate to work on!

    • @arteesta952
      @arteesta952  7 років тому +1

      I would use lighter colors as a base and the black as the final layer. What ever color is on top will be the dominant color of your wood.

    Tudah Rbah (thank you very much). Before I leave, let me tell you, the real Name of the Creator is Hayah asher Hayah, as what He told Moses (Exodus 3:13-14). Also, we are to do the 7 appointed times (Leviticus 23). But do not do the "7 Noahide Laws," from the Talmud. That is trickery, and man-made, not the inspired Word of Yah. Never take the mark of the beast (RFID chip); it changes DNA and is a one-way ticket to hell according to Revelation (I am paraphrasing). Amen. Be of good cheer, as Christ restores all matters.
