I've watched a lot of "how-to" videos and have done some wall "art" myself. But this instructor is an ARTIST!! You are easy to understand, you're relaxed in your presentation and you don't act like a "know-it-all". I would ask for a little more information on paints/glazes used, and various things like that. Thank you very much for this video.
Hazard a guess that you are a very busy individual. Your method and overall result looks authentic and natural. Great video, easy to follow with clear and to the point instructions.
After watching your tutorial I am ready to go for it. Up until now I have been reticent, watching video after video but you have inspired me to get off of my potential energy azz, grab the bull by the horns and make it happen. I hope I can show you a before and after. You have an extraordinary manner of teaching complex concepts into discrete understanding. Thank you for sharing you expertise and knowledge. Excited to view and learn from your other content. Cheers.
So, I'm redoing my room to look more horror-inspired, and I had an idea for something sorta like Silent Hill. This is PERFECT, as the browns go great for a SH style, but if I just used red tint somehow (or painted the walls red first then added some browns) it would be perfect for a more gorey-look. Thanks so much mate! Hopefully this'll look awesome!
You need to upload your project! I wanna see! That sounds so cool!!! Idea: to enhance the spookiness, keep the drips more visible, maybe? Instead of dabbing them away the way he does in the video? Just a thought... ☺️ Good luck!
I Must say that Martin Craig and Roon Demahom said it way better than I could. Have a question concerning a wall that is already painted with a latex red paint, would love to incorporate that color with your Technic but not sure about painting on an already painted wall? Would love feed back or suggestions on how to conserve the base red color?.
Paint with two coats Benjamin Moore Paint color OC6 Glazing Medium Faux Effects is Brand from Faux Effects Inc. check for dealer on line Texture is called Faux Tex same company
I actually preferred results demonstrable in 2:37 of your Video:) Fantastic! Nice work, anyway though I'd back off on the spray bottle water dripping in most home and even winery scenarios. It makes the women nervous. Thanks for sharing.
No, you are not the only one! That was my initial thought as well. What good is this video if he doesn’t give you the damned brand and colors? It looks great but really frustrating when lack of information leaves you hanging after watching the entire 15 minute video.
@@boblafountaine9560Everything you need to pull this off is in the video. The base coat is an off-white, Navahoe White or Swiss Coffee will work fine. You want the base to be a matte or satin sheen and not flat. Then you will need two browns with one being darker than the other. You will need some glaze and some isopropyl alcohol and a little joint compound and that is it. You don't need the specific brand that he used or even the exact colors.
Hi James, did you ever try this on a canvas, I am trying to paint my backdrop as well, and I need some insight. I will be glad if you respond. Have a great day.
Is there a product list to be found anywhere? Or do any of the questions asked ever get answered because this seems to be the biggest question?? A list would sure help people be find the proper products.
In the video he says the base coat is Ben Moore OC-6 regal matte, isopropyl achohol, Proceed full body glazing medium, Aquacolor earth brown and Aquacolor dark brown.
As good as these videos are, they did really miss some opportunities, didn’t they? I can’t imagine why they didn’t put the purchase details in the description box. However, somebody made a good point in the comments of another of these videos: You don’t have to use these exact products. Just google the techniques and types of products, and you will probably learn a lot, and be able to get the same results with similar products of a different brand.
I would suggest taking some faux effects product classes. They are located in studios around the country. At least they used to. They have a full line of products some of which he is using in this video. I do prefer to use faux effect products exclusively over subbing other brands ie isopropal as oppsed to activator 2 and or blending solvant. Or high percentage acrylic based paint ben moore as opposed to Setcoat basecoat products. I know that corners can be cut and save some money per sq. ft. But its not going to make or break the deal for the clients I seek.
What in the world did you take a sniff of the alcohol for at 3:30? lol Ok, so you spliced the video when you were noting that you may begin to blot up the spots too early as it "smooshes" up a bit, but what's an approx. amount of time it takes for it to set up & freeze? Lastly, what exactly is this Fautex? That's just a brand name, so what could be used in place of it if it's not avail locally? I can only imagine using a tiny amount and wouldn't want to waste the monies on a large tub such as that.
great! can anyone tell me what he sprinkles on the wall with his hand? I can not understand well and I can not read the label, thx! (Renee from The Netherlands)
Great effect! Any idea what the paints are? They look like acrylic as he's using glaze and isopropyl alcohol. So the alcohol acts like a solvent? Is the acrylic glaze also a retarder or just a medium?
Would this work with light layers of paint as well? Like to make the effect of a wall that has several layers of paint on it? Or does this only work with glaze?

Probably one of the best 'instructional' videos on this subject I have seen. Easy to watch and listen to.

Замечательная идея
Hi there!.. How can I get this look with a dark green as main color..and the appearance of rust as the dripping look?..
I actually preferred results demonstrable in 2:37 of your Video:) Fantastic! Nice work, anyway though I'd back off on the spray bottle water dripping in most home and even winery scenarios. It makes the women nervous. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant!
Do you provide a printable page of the tools , products and colors used?
cool . thanks for uploading. subbed)
Am I the only person who can't find the brand of paint used? I wan't to be sure it works, but not knowing the base of the paint is leaving me lost...

I'm starting to make my own photography backdrops. Can you use this technique on canvas being as that it has a lot more tooth to it than flat wall!
Hi James, did you ever try this on a canvas, I am trying to paint my backdrop as well, and I need some insight.
I will be glad if you respond.
Have a great day.
would it be ok to use a different brand medium and plaster since I have plenty.
How about the edges around doors, windows or even ceilings & the floor?
Hey Deshuhouse, what product would you recommend for an exterior stucco wall application? I am having trouble finding exterior glaze

I'm very much interested in your work, how can I get in contact with you?
Wow!
How long of a wait between glazing and the plaster application? Anyone?
Genius.

Can you do this on a stucco wall?
well done
it's greatly amasing
can you do this with regular water based paint as well? or does it have to be glaze?
The glaze keeps the paint from drying too quickly, and that is what is essential to being able to achieve this.
Bro can u do the emperador brown marble faux
semi gloss poly when its done?
What type of paint is OC 6? Emulsion?
He says "benmo" which is Benjamin Moore. OC-6 is the color code.

Bob Ross for walls 👍😂
alguien podria decirme los materiales,??? no entiendo del todo°!
Estimated completion time for a whole house... 2 years
This is very detail. A tedious job I must say! So, OK, RIP intention to fauxing lol - I ain't going to do this.
Great effect! Any idea what the paints are? They look like acrylic as he's using glaze and isopropyl alcohol. So the alcohol acts like a solvent? Is the acrylic glaze also a retarder or just a medium?
Looks almost like a burned walnut!
Wow
I’m doing that
F bad ass
He makes this look easy. It isn't. Hire a pro, folks.
super! 👍
