@@juanitasingleton1149 No. The whole table had a black finish. I only refinished the top. Used Benjamin Moore Regal Select paint mixed w/ zinnser primer.
I finally did my dining room, and it looks phenomenal. This was the second time doing anything like this. I'm so proud of myself. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
This looks amazing. I need to try this. you make it look so easy. I have the perfect piece to do this on. As far as the General Finishes arm-r-seal… it is amazing. I love it. I do woodworking and it’s my go to. I was sold after working in a table shop. We made tables for the wine bar that opened in the gallery. I saw the daily wear and tear on those tables and the finish held up amazingly. I also used it on a table two years ago that my daughter now has. It was intended as a desk that my mom used. But my daughter is now using it as a kitchen table. She has an 18 month old and it is holding up so well. Great stuff.
"You can't brush too much" was what I needed to hear. I did one piece using a different tutorial and wasn't happy with how it looked. You gave me confidence to just keep brushing until I got the look I was going for, and the second try was a huge success!
I appreciate you taking the time to list all the products. Makes everything so much easier and I feel more confident in tackling projects like this. Love your channel and keep up the good work!
I have to say the detail you give in your tutorials are incredible. A beginner like myself really appreciates that and also you listing the products used in the drop down. I've seen a lot of videos, but if they don't list products used in drop down I refuse to subscribe, but I'm certainly subscribed to you. Thanks luv
Omg...so glad this came up in my recommendations. I’ve been thinking about repainting and/or refinishing my 20 year old dining room table that’s made of the same thing and this is just PERFECT. Thank you for the inspiration!
I was so excited to see the video was up!!! I loved watching what was going on with the fireplace. I really love seeing the little kids playing out in the yard on the trampoline. They are living their best life! As are you and Shane!
I’ve watched this video at least 6 times and I’m planning to do my table & chairs with your method. My only question is. How has it held up these past 10 months with your move and busy family ?
Love the way this turned out! I have all the products so I’ll definitely practice on a small table first. I like that you use different tools and products that are easily accessible. Nice work!
@@marylopez7788 oh no 😢 is it like scratching with your finger nail or scratching when someone drag a heavy vase or something? Did you use oil based topcoat? Oil based is most durable finish for tables on the market. Is it one spot or scratches all over?
I’ve been waiting to redo my 20 year old table for so long I’m going to try it , keep putting table furniture ideas from pottery barn n others I just love it
Yes! Thank you! I have had a round table that I have wanted to refinish for so long and today I was feeling fed up with it and literally got on UA-cam to find just the right tutorial and I didn't even have to search! It was at the top of my feed when I opened UA-cam! Perfect! Thank you!
you look like a professional that looks great you do it just like I would do it I'm a 72-year-old grandmother and I've refinished about I've done trash to Treasures Thrift Stores yard sales curbside furniture for my house and excellent pieces of furniture that we're in good shape and I redid them and you do just like I did I did my dining room table it is so nice you're doing a good job keep up the good work
I just used this exact method and products for my table and I'm ecstatic with how beautifully it turned out. It really does have a faux wood look. Thank you, thank you for such a great tutorial.
I love your pottery barn videos. I use a toothbrush for small areas and edges. Works great! I love your version of this finish!! -Tammy ( your Georgia neighbor)
You have answered a question that has been bothering me for a couple of years! Free kitchen table that i eant to look like the PB finish. Its that orangey tabletop color. And i knew it would be work! I too afore working eith General Finishes products! Thank you! Thank you! Finally excited to get started!!
I used a similar concept over 10-12 years ago for my kitchen cabinets. It was a kit from Rustoleum. I really like the brush look you did, but the rustoleum kit instructions had me wiping the stain with a "cheesecloth" type of rag. I wish I had brushed it instead! But it still looks ok and gets lots of compliments.
I use this technic with oil based i choose a white color for the base then I mixed clear varnish with some paint and I applied the trick of faux wood with my brush and I was so proud with the final result of wardrobe it looks so good
Oh this is awesome. I actually need to make my fan blades look "wood" like so I'm going to try this. As well as on my small file cabinet that needs to be repainted.
Awesome! I love that gel stuff, worked with it a few times. It took me a while to figure out that I could just wipe it off with a wet towel if I messed up and simply do it over. I'm working on our dining set now, but it is getting the valspar finish (your technique to get the smooth finish is perfect, Thanks!). Oh no, now I want your table...
Amazing! I am getting ready to makeover my dining table and this is the technique I’ll use! Thank you for being so specific about how you did it and with what “tools”!
Beautiful just beautiful. Nice table as well. Thanks. Old clothes and an old hat looks better than a lil black dress on someone as pretty as you. Your husband is extremely lucky and I hope he realizes what he has.
I absolutely love it! I’m going to try it with using chalk paint and the rust oleum brown glaze. I have a deck staining brush and the bristles are soft and I also picked up the whisk broom which of course the bristles are stiff. Are the bristles on the deck staining brush supposed to be soft or stiff? Thanks for any help. Take care, stay safe.
