- In this video I upgrade the headlights in my 1989 Chevrolet K1500 with a kit from LMC truck. The kit replaces the sealed beam headlights for ones that allow the bulbs to be replaced.
Link to the set I used.

Look Into The "4High Headlight Mod". A few wires, a relay. Basically, when you switch your High Beams on the relay will trigger the Low beams to come back on. I own my late grandfathers 1988 K1500 5.7L Silverado. I did this for added light output driving at night. It is Not "night & day" difference, But the added light output is nice.
Thanks! I will check it out. Compared to the new stuff, these old setups seem lacking sometimes.
LMC has the harness to do this! It’s like $20
i’m not a big american car guy, but i came from your shifter rebuild on your gti, you make the best tutorials i’ve ever seen, please don’t stop
Wow!!! Thank you very much! I will not stop.
I've got an 89' K2500 I'm fixing up, and his looks like a nice upgrade! Thanks for posting.
This is awesome! Could watch this type of DIY all day. Might get these for my truck.
Thanks! They are working out Great too. I drove the truck a lot in the last few days. They are noticably better.
Always enjoy your C1500 videos. I suspect this upgrade is in my future. Thanks!
These style of bulbs are so nice. I wanna do a swap soon. Great video and job by the way.
Love the videos, glad to see you doing this upgrade and love the fact your keeping that classic on the road!
Thanks man!! I appreciate it. I really love this era truck.
I'm a 90's kid and it hurts my soul to see an 89' truck labeled a classic. Got an 89' R3500 myself.
Thank you for the video and link sir.
Thanks man i've been wanting to convert my '98 to the '89 style dual headlights but didnt know what i needed and you showed everything i need in detail
Why?
@@irishuwould5185 because the staggered split glass look is far cleaner than smudged bloating plastic
I have an 89 Suburban (so technically still a square body) but I've only had it a week, was getting ready to tear into the grill and lights for upgrades - so this was fantastic
Heck yeah man!! Good luck with it. The more We keep on the road the better!
Pro tip: abs delete is the best free upgrade available to this truck. In my humble opinion
(Not a pro😊)
1988 was the first year for that body design but they only came in regular & new extended cab pickup models at the time because the crew cab pickups & SUVs with the previous body design were still in production up through 1991.
Beauty vid! I need to replace the pigtails on my 1988 k1500. (Mine are starting to melt) This taught me everything I need to know. Heading to the scrap yard tomorrow to find some new ones. Hopefully I'll get'r'done.
Thanks and good luck! I need to spend some time at the scrap yard too.
I bought my brother a k1500 and we need this kit awesome video
Have you guys deleted the abs yet?
Wow nice truck!!
I enjoy the videos! I’m currently bringing a 1989 GMC K2500 back from the brink.
Super cool truck you have too!
Thanks!! And I am jealous. I would rather have a 2500. Actually, other than my 454SS, this is my first 1500. I've had 2 C2500's and a K2500. But, my driveway and garage are too small now. Good luck with yours!!
@@MaqsVids thanks! A little luck goes a long way. I’m currently changing out my “intermediate “ steering shaft with a jeep unit to get rid of my rag joint, and changing melted twilight circuit boards out.
It’s a fun truck to play with.
just some information, that bottom part of the grille is called a bumper filler. and also those push pins that keep it attached they make a specific tool just for those style of fastener called panel/trim clip remover
Thanks!! I didn't know about that name but it makes sense. I saw one of those trim tools before. I need to go ahead and buy one as much work as I'm doing on these kind of things.
nice job I replaced my tail lights and turn signals on my 89 also. the old ones were very cloudy and dull. I may change out my head lights as you have done this summer
Thanks! I'm about to copy you too. My tail lights are mismatched from the junkyard. And the lights under the headlights are old and I need a bulb so I might as well replace them too.
Love the truck
Thanks!
Cool video I’ve got a kit to do that, ordered the extra harness for the lights heavier gauge with relays . Had interior done in vinyl no cloth.
Nice!! vinyl's the way to go man.. if I had F you money...
Doing my cluster led’s and was gonna paint grille next but that complete front light conversion seems the way to go while grill paint drying.. 89 1500.
They look good I assumed they were cheap at first but glad I watched till the end
They are like 36 bucks for one headlight and you gotta buy four so round 200 bucks for everything plus if you get led bulbs
Thanks bro I have a 92 and love this look bought the lights but didn’t wanna tap in to my headlights harness
Heck yeah man!! Good luck.
your vids are well done, i'm secretly hoping somebody sends you a couple subaru's and an f150 to work on next :P . These vids plus a chilton manual and i am finally able to fix up my truck. Thank you.
Yes i had to take my grill of but i swapped my 97 composite ligts to those quads best thing ever
Nice 👍🏼
Thanks!
I mounted a 26" led light bar, there's a night & day difference between it & the factory headlights. Eventually I'll do this upgrade as well
What I difference. I did the same in led. Check it out if you get the chance. Keep making her look good 👍🏽
Great video, great upgrade. But. I am still stuck with the plastic thing between the high and low beam. How did you get rid of that?
I have a 89 gmc c1500 and I got to put a condenser and radiator in it and I was wondering do you have any tips for me because I’m not trying to mess my truck up and another thing where did you get that radio from and the thing it’s sitting in because I got to get one?
I Wonder if its possible to put different Lightbulbs in there. My 94 Sierra got quad headlights but all 4 headlights have H6054 Bulbs. I bought used headlights for 300 bucks from a 89 Truck so I have to brackets. Now I just need fitting headlights that fit H6054 bulbs. Pretty hard to find something.
Are they glass or plastic?
What bulbs did you put in to make them white
Whats the headlight assembly size/dimensions?
Great video. I wonder if you could upgrade the bulb to led ones?
I'm pretty sure you can. I'm thinking about trying some Auxito ones
I'm looking at these to see what bulb fits them before I order I want to put hid bulbs in
How do I change from these exact headlights to the single one across just like the turn signal light on the bottom ?
🤔I don't know. But now I'm interested.
Have you tried doing LEDs in these? I’m about to order a set and try them
I haven't I just have the regular bulbs in there. But let me know how the LEDs look They should be great
What size led did you use if you have tried it?
Do they come in pair or have to get 2 of each ?
No just one
Put an new altinator in it with more Watt's that will make them brighter also.
Thanks for the tip.! That is worth a try.
Yea I know a little bit, after an while those parts age & sometimes especially with older vehicles have to Upgrade certain parts.
Can you fit a led bulb in the new light housing
I'm pretty sure you can. I'm thinking about doing it myself with some Auxito.
Hey man could you please send me the link to the grille and headlights!
Hey! Check out the description. I put the link in there.
So since they are bulbs I can out white led one correct?
Yep!
@@MaqsVids thanks 👍
@@MaqsVids on the link theres two models inner and outer are they the same if I buy 2 of each for the passenger and driver side
¿Where u buy that upgrade?
LMC Truck👍
It would been alot easier to just replace the bulbs ,and they do sell them!
Hey George! Are you sure? 88-89 were different. I wanted to replace the bulbs. But, these were sealed. I prefer replacing bulbs. If you know something different please show me where.
@@MaqsVids I mean he's not wrong, but if you open a sealed beam headlight they kind of explode and make a huge mess! They are definitely not meant to be opened
@@MaqsVids the whole assembly is the buld they're sealed beam
@@newendoria1232Thanks! I have never referred to sealed beams as bulbs...but they are. I always considered bulbs as going into the light. So, he was right 😉 🫣
Can I get the link on the part?
Here it is. I need to get better about that 😉

Where can i order these conversion headlamps???
Lmc
Has anyone tried to swap the headlights? I tried and you’ll have to find the straight one
Wonder where else to get these… awful pricey.
U can pass me the direct link?
Here you go man! It's also in the description. Good luck!

@@MaqsVids thanks!!
Would you be interested of selling it?
It still needs a ton of work. The price I would be willing to sell it for wouldn't be a good deal. I am still enjoying working on it
Those are some really dim lights. But awesome video
Thanks! Video doesn't do them justice. It was a noticable improvement. If you think these are dim, you should have seen of the originals. 😐
