Tom you’re the master of the one way conversation, not many people could do that. You could have been a journalist or colour commentator, it feels natural and fluid, not forced and it leaves the viewer feeling engaged. Plus the music, gear, tone, comedy….. 👍🏽
The joy in Homeskoolin is a chance to get a glimpse into your mind Tom. I can't ask Patrick Mahomes what he was seeing at the line or Lebron what he is working on with his jumpshot, but you give us unfettered access into a world we all dream about, yet never really see. Thanks Tom - this channel is amazing.
Yeah this ⬆️. It’s nuts we now get guitar lessons, demos and insight from the best in the world (for free). Used to buy magazines, vhs concerts hoping for a blurb or a glimpse. Now we get a point of view perspective, weekly, checking out the fucking whizzer as you’re walking by it during rehearsal.
Tom, i was legitimately just thinking the other day about how much i love this channel. It's a serious uplift and comfort to me in dark and dangerous times. ❤
Maybe I'm late to the party (the chanel), but I hope you'll get through it whatever it is. I lost a lot in my young life, but when I learned to be greatful and modest things made a big turn for the better and now the LIGHT follows me around.
Hi Tom, not even sure where to begin. Don't stop talking to us. You are the kind of mentor/friend every musician needs. Its not just technique, licks, chops, its so much more....its a great human being who is a great musician just sharing his musical life with us. What is there not to love. And about offering your guitars, don't stop, we love seeing great old instruments, you have always been upfront about your guitar flipping. It may sound weird, but you have been such a bright spot out here in rural Oregon, and i love you for it. Enough, i could go on ad nauseam.
Tom, as the only channel on UA-cam I subscribe to, I think Homeskoolin is whatever you decide it’s going to be. I come back (again and again) for the music, wisdom, humour and (most importantly in our sometimes fkd world) the honesty …..which shines through in your music, wisdom and humour. Same here. About a year ago I was subscribed to 20+ channels, got burned out trying to keep up with all the videos posted, unsubscribed to all of them except my favorite, Little Tommy. 😊
Tom I see why you appreciate drummers, because your feel and execution of time is so innately good, and well taken care of by you. it's palpable to anyone who has an ear for music.
I was lucky enough to stand 10 feet from Holdsworth and watch him play at the Baked Potato in LA. Unreal. And had a chance to talk with him after the show. Super nice guy.
Always fascinating to see Tom when he's in the zone. He always seems to know what's next to make the guitar do his bidding. Simply a fantastic misician and a wealth of knowledge! Thanks Tom, you've ignited a "spark" in many of us to be better musicians and noodelers alike! ✌🏼
Hey Tom, no you don’t talk too much in your videos. What I love about Homeskoolin’ is that it’s not just amazing playing and lessons but also a conversation. I enjoy your thoughts on this and that and the wisdom you share from countless hours of consuming, practicing, and playing music. This channel is by far the best thing on UA-cam. Hey Tom, just being yourself is what makes this work. Most of us know that’s how you roll. I had two guitar instructors growing up. The first one, although a great player, only spoke to admonish my pitiful skills. The second one would show me a cool concept to work on and then we’d sit and talk about anything and everything for hours. I learned a lot more from the second one. Many of us homeschoolers value your perspective and wisdom. I say talk as much as you want. I really appreciate your lessons, even those that extend beyond the fretboard. Thanks!

I just discovered this channel last night. I watched Uncle Larry and Dan discussing tone and loved the episode. I have been aware of Tom's playing for a few years, but so cool to discover he is such a down to earth guy. I feel like a found a new friend. Thanks Tom for making me feel like we are just hanging out as friends.
Uncle Larry, your content is fascinating and 100% valuable to many of us! Question; I'd REALLY like to see you use a looper and see what you come up with? I know you're "old school" like many of us, but I can only imagine what you could do with one and showcasing all your talent as well...plus I thought about getting one myself. Thanks Tom for doing these videos for us all to dig into! ✌🏼

These videos are gems and I could EASILY ditch all the other UA-cam subscriptions if I could only have one, wouldn't hesitate a second. Having never played a vintage axe before, I really wanted to know what all the buzz was about and if it was real or overblown. Got the opportunity to play a '62 ES-335 at Carter's and my god.. what an guitar. It was like all of classic rock bundled into a single instrument. If I had a spare $32 grand, I would have rode off into the sunset with that thing haha! But alas, it was amazing to play at the very least. I also went to the National Museum of African American Music and it was so cool to see where so much of this music that we all love came from. Hi Tom!! totally agree about Phil Collins, just 2 really outstanding ytube videos as examples of his high level skills: any genesis live show in Paris '73 (plenty of close cammera shots, so smooth prog drums!!), and of course the final section of in the air tonight where he both plays and sings, in the 80's and 90's. Glad you like that much P.Collins and T.Banks, those guys are unique...

My ears ring 24/7… can’t do the big loud anymore. Like you said…”in the mix” is good.
Hi Tom!! totally agree about Phil Collins, just 2 really outstanding ytube videos as examples of his high level skills: any genesis live show in Paris '73 (plenty of close cammera shots, so smooth prog drums!!), and of course the final section of in the air tonight where he both plays and sings, in the 80's and 90's. Glad you like that much P.Collins and T.Banks, those guys are unique...
Chops vs. Feel. Interesting observation. Keep shining Tom!!
Wow!.. You just taught me a lot in a few seconds! Thanks!
Such a true musician!
One of the coolest things about your playing is the way you shake full chords. Love that.
I understand more about playing guitar from your dialogues then just watching you play and trying to steal kung-fu/licks from you Tom. Thanks again for your time and effort big Unc' Larry
Love the commentary just as much as the playing. You’re a naturally interesting cat.

It's so awesome you played with Ann. Those first four Heart albums are a BIG deal for me.
Chops come with practice, Feel comes from living!
Hey Tom-Love when you play but love your witticism also. My favorite all-time Uncle Tom youtube was the breakdown on The Pretenders Kid. Would love it if you did more of that. Thanks for everything I gleam little bits of knowledge all the time.
thanks man...you mean break down that song again?
I like the talking and playing equally, in any proportion. Just do what feels right for you. We'll dig it.
Integrity is a wonderful thing. Thanks for the knowledge Uncle Larry.
I love philosophical Tom.. I could literally listen to him pontificate on music for hours straight. Thanks Tommy!!
Hey Tom, just wanted to be another voice that reminds you how much we love hearing your commentary. I Never miss an episode!
You do not talk too much. That's become a big part of why we're here. Keep blabbin' and playin' just like you do.
