- Shauno puts Australia's most modified 300 series Toyota LandCruiser to the ultimate test! We put some low range Km's on the new LandCruiser in water crossings, steep climbs, sharp descents - testing the 300 series to it's limits flexing & articulating it's way up seriously tough tracks. Shauno proves that this TJM equipped beast isn't just a soccer mums, car but a real off-road vehicle made for adventure.
Thanks to TJM for giving Shauno the keys to this machine to see what it's made of! Check out the range of accessories at www.tjm.com.au/
TJM 300 Series Mod List:

What suspension articulation it's got the flex of a chopping block 😆
Hey mate, what's flex 😂
Looks about the same flex as a 79 ha
Anyone else think the last bush ready cruiser was the 105? Modern landcruisers will just be soccer mum cars to me, unless they go back to their roots. They better keep the 70 series in production I swear.
Great vid as always fellas
I have a 105 with 33s all terrains and those tracks look fairly standard to me aye
78 series is a good 4x4 straight out of the factory, the back end hasn't changed since 1985, still waiting (6 months so far) for my new one
If they get rid of the 70 series australia won't be australia
Tfw 07 rodeo with the 4jj1
The 70 series is a long way from being capable as a tough track car. It's got crap clearance
Thank you for having footage of the raw engine sound without stupid music added over it! Love your channel!
Love the modifications. I would purchase it!❤️👍🏼
Wow what a fantastic to see how well the 300 series goes it’s insane I was very impressed with it . I would own one myself if I had that kind of money. Looking forward to watching your next video mate
Put a camp oven on 35's and it would flex more than that thing.
Hahaha
It’s a lot harder to get legal/safe flex out of a 4WD with independent suspension, but modern traction control does a bang up job of countering wheel lifts before you even go for a locker.
That said, if anyone’s got a spare camp oven and a set of 35s they aren’t using… we know a guy
@@4WD247 my patrol meets the criteria
You'd need damn near centrally mounted extra long control arms to get decent flex from independent suspension. Look at the independents suspension trucks run in King of the Hammers
Camp oven on 35s is awesome !
Tasty treats and trails at the same time :)
What a beast, it crawled up effortlessly
That's exactly what I am buying ,, a Sahara 300 and equipping it with so this was so good to watch. Now all I have to do is learn how to drive as well as that off road
Love the looks of the big rig, specially with the mods. Now it finally looks ready for anything. Though I would personally prefer something smaller, as it would be a daily driver too. I work in town, where it's hard to still find a parking space a big car will fit in. And parking garages, if you need to use one, usually come with a height restriction.
What tires do TJM have on that rig though? I know it's a big car, but those tires seem small. Or is that just misperception after being used to how big the 35s look on Shauno's usual rigs?
Great drive mate and very capable car, looked to be doing it easy. Love the mods, neat and clean.
Can you mention the bar work again please
Was it TJM ????????
Hey Matt! This build includes:
TJM Outback Bullbar
TJM Modular Black Steel Side Steps 63mm
TJM Modular Black Steel Side Bar 63mm
Plus the rear bar which is a protype
Put a good off-road driver in any model Landcruiser “stock”with at least a good set of off-road tires and the vehicle will go places most could only dream of.
You don’t need half the shit!
In saying that this 300 looks insane!
Pj
This sort of driving is exactly what has been missing to date from the Grenadier launch. I love the Grenadier but yet to see it do anything remotely like this. It's not that I think it can't we just haven't seen it. Great driving Shauno
I imagine the Grenadier will be a better offroader, but yeah, looking forward to see some real footage when it rolls into Aus
It will have no trouble with this sort of stuff. There is no mention of what this 300 with these mods will cost - but I'm tipping north of $180,000 if you get one with lockers. The Grenadier will cost much less.
She'll be here after launch. Good or bad I'm pumped to see one put through her paces.
35 inches on a Grenadier with front and rear lockers will chew up most terrains. However I do like the crawl control of the cruiser as well
Hey Shaun, your videos always make me feel good, especially after today because just a few hours ago I found out someone I really love passed away this morning and I came home and watched your videos and it really made my day a lot better thanks Shaun!!
Rely on JESUS for comfort, not earthly things Brody. Read my name
Awesome. cant wait to see the Chopped 300 all kited out.
The 300 on those hills is so impressive. Great video boys - thanks
That is seriously impressive how easy that looked (skilled driver of course). Did all those mods raise the GVM though bc that’s the really disappointing aspect where the L300 should have improved in my opinion. Payload is still very compromised vs $ vs other options. I would guess all those mods are +200kgs?
Awesome keep rolling
Ive got one on order will be here in W.A. in 5 or 6 weeks and along list of mods are ordered for when it arrives.
Hope they bring that rear bar into production so you can hide the hideous arse end on the 300!! Great vid guys!
It looks amazing driving kids to school and sporting clubs, I’ve actually seen one go up a kerb quite well and even a speed hump so definitely worth the $$$$$$$$$$$$
Can’t get a 300 here in the USA. But I was able to snag one of the last 200s and I have done some proper mods to it and it’s a beast now.
4WD 24-7 cameraguys did a great job making a steep hill actually look steep on camera. I wonder what techniques they use
Love your content. HI from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬
I'd love the power and economy of a 300 but even if I win the lotto, I'd stick with my 105 and FTE swap it .Never selling my old rig!
Heard that store at least 100000 times good for you.
Yeah if I had that kind of money I'd just buy a used 200 or Prado and build it up proper
Same here, except mines a 100, sahara with an FTE
@@tealy124 question to a 100 series owner. I want one myself is it generally easy and affordable to modify?
@@vanderz1012 Short answer, yes. But like any 4wd, you can throw alot of dollars at it to make it how you want it.
1HDFTE's in good nick are harder to come by these days for a good price given how sought after they are.
Perfect soccer Mum car now 👏
Drink every time Shauno says “a few key mods”
hAw yAgAWinmaaaaaTe….?! Cheers 🤪🍻
U got a nice rig there it's a beast should mind having one of these 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great video, did you use crawl control and Hill descent etc?
not a fan of the all round independent suspension.
Its not all around independent - rear is solid.
100% improvement on looks with that front bumper in the bin. What were they thinking?
Imaginé this truck with a front solid axle 😎
When are you guys gonna pack up and try some of our trails here in the US. I would recommend either Drummond Island here in my home state of Michigan or trails down south in Tennesse and out west also?
curious if it has the same issues with CV shafts the 200 has.
We do agree that the code number of toyota is the final price with all the mode x1000 ? Well if it's not capable for that price that would be a bit harsh..
That 300 looks awesome/amazing, love the look of it
Good Morning Mates, I was wondering if you guys have thought about planning a world tour trip? It would be Epic!!! A Patagonia Hwy trip, end to end? Go out into the world and meet your fans I am sure they would be there to support you at every turn. I know I would here in the USA. Like I said Epic!!!!
looked very smooth, though still alot of wheel lift..
wouldn't mind that tjm equipped beauty on my driveway
Gokil ini mah .. Ni mobil udah dibikin kyak gini aja...
Up two hills and down one, impressive but most 4WD will do that. I really like the car but willing to wait till it has done a few laps of the island and been pushed on a continuous time frame on some cross country trips. Also to let the aftermarket develop a bit more.
thats going to be true of any new release car
@@markhowells13 fairly certain plenty will. You can get 35” mud terrain fully locked trucks completely stock. Fairly confident any Rubicon, Bronco Badlands, and ZR2 can make it up with minimal issue.
Great rig all round. Would I buy one? Eish with that price tag I'd rather go for a used 200 or Prado tbh
If I had the money, I’d buy one in a heartbeat.
Is it just traction control assist? Was there a rear locker on that rig???🤔
If I could afford, I’d go for a GR and put TJM mods for lap around this great big country 🤙🏼🤙🏼🇦🇺. Awesome content as always mate👏🏼🙏🏼.
Same 👍
a GR with this mods would be the complete mud king
If you had the cash to get a tough vehicle for overlanding, would you buy the LC300 or 2018 G Wagon G300 CDI ? They are about the same price. Some LC300 models are actually cheaper than the G300. There's a guy who did about 900,000 km in his G300 GD "Otto".
Would like to see this car in one of ur vids of the toughest track in Australia or even cape York against the other boys
Very very capable as is... Great review and video. Imo, only 35's will do (if at all possible....) 😜👍🏻👊🏻
It's crazy to spend that amount of money, then modify it. Then hitting rough tracks with such an expensive rig.
It's fine if you're crazy rich
Money is relative mate.
120k for the VX in the video other 20k should be enough for mods
Hey Shaun'o great video,👌👊👏 what size & brand tyre's are on the 300 ?
Hi Mates. That was impressive. What type of engine do they come with over there? Here in the USA they used to come with the 5.7L gas engine (same engine as the Toyota Tundra).
3.3L twin turbo V6 diesel - it’s a new engine on this generation, after having come with the 4.5 V8 turbo-diesel for ever.
Actually a very nice truck
300 series modified
Imagine the cost!
Firmly getting into ram and F250 territory
In Shauno's words "just a couple of mods"
Toyota are getting good at making half a 4B
@@dudleythree3 and charging double the price! If Hyundai or Kia made this it would be half the cost and twice as good!
Finally 300lc with a spare wheel carrier fyi I saw it from the picture and haven't watched it yet so if I'm wrong no cap
Just ordered a 300 now I got to wait haha.
Some might say it's a very capable soccer mums car!
I'm surprised the snorkel went on the left. Most 4WDs built after 2012 have the snorkel on the right. The Ford Ranger & Mazda BT-50 have had the snorkel on the right since 2012, and the Toyota Hilux had it on the right since 2005.
They're starting to copy the patrols 😂
😎👍🏻 OFFROAD KING
I'd definitely own one for touring and comfort, but if I was heading on tracks like that i'd rather something I can bash around and not be too concerned about damaging.
Solid performance! Though I noticed it wasn't really that flexi. Is KDSS not working or is does it have?
KDSS is only available in the GR Sport version. Not sure what model this was, but it didn't have the grill of the GR.
@@mathewcampbell8479 that's a bit disappointing considering that KDSS is available on almost all LC200 trim levels and Prados
@@vanderz1012 yeah it sucks. Kdss is awesome...
Would love to see you test an old Mitsubishi Delica (L400)!
The GR has a steep bumper. Ideal for offroading
I know that overlanding means you have to drag along a lot of weight but still, like many of your other other vehicles Shauno, it's way to heavy for my linking and it has no significant wheel travel, even the modified 300 has no wheel travel (look at 02:57) The only thing that get's these vehicles through are lockers and throttle. It makes you wonder what off road capability actually means . . . To me it means to keep my four wheels on the ground as long as possible, for others it means to apply lockers, floor it and hope that the 2 axles of the wheels that make contact hold up. That doesn't mean I don't like to watch this channel, in fact, I love it. It's such a different way of off roading than I'm used to . . . looking forward to the last episode of your fishing trip mate.
It’s just a stupid law thing, we can’t do anything to our rigs without getting engineering certificates and even then your only aloud to change so much. anything bigger than 2inch from factory, needs certification which costs thousands.. you can get up to 35inch tires on a C class license, which is the standard car license, anything larger than 35inch and you need a small truck license. 🤷🏼♂️
Too right....
@@ilouse I don't see many people here in Aus prepared to actually push for political change re 4wding. Frankly, I find it pathetic/weak when the 4wding community continually complain about our stringent laws but then dont do anything about it....
@@MothyEmms I hear ya, bunch of pansy blowse wearing muppets… my rig is a rolling defect anyway. I just run the gauntlet and don’t drive like a cock🤣 won’t be long untill they ban fossil fuels and everyone goes woke on electric. Send it whist ya still can.. 🤙🏻
@@ilouse I didn't know that, over here in the Netherlands most of the inspection centers have no clue what it is they are looking for. I can put 40's on my TJ, lift it 6" and throw in all after market suspension and steering parts available and it will be fine. As long as the tire profile is okay, brakes are okay, the tires don't stick out to much, lights and indicators work and there's no rust in the frame. That's basically it. Time for people to take their freedoms back, the regulations world wide are getting insane in every division. The world is ours, it's about time we start to show this to the 1%
Anyone know where this is filmed? Would love to hit those tracks up. Reckon Imbil State Forest?
Be happy to have it in my possession
Very happy
what version of the 300 series is this & what year model ??? GR ? Sahara ? GX ?
i want to get the new 300 series & fully kit it with TJM MODS but not sure which version of the 300 i should get ???
300 series 2023 or 2022 ? ?? any help with any of these questions would help me great
Thanks , Alex
Still a King
I think in the future when you are asked to test drive a 4WD you should have a competition to have a subscriber go with you and be a spotter and you can also help them with any questions they have either about the 4wd you are testing or the 4WD they own.
Great idea! But the subscriber should at least do SOME of the driveling. Jack in Mexico
@@jackcirrito3458 yeah but I don’t think the dealership would like it if the subscriber caused any damage.
If he was driving his own and one of the boys were in the passenger seat explaining things while they are driving.
If they have done 4WD before then see if they are aloud to have a test drive because they might buy one like your testing
@@darrensice1550 Yeah. I guess I was just fantasizing about a perfect world.
With all the doubters going on about the hot vee , in the new 300 series , and how hot it's going to get why don't you do a proper test with heat senses on the turbos and that area .
Do the test on some normal to hot days both towing and not . Thanks
Bulk stock, you know you got the right mods👍🏻
Wow that's awesome good job 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍👍👍😎😎👏👏👏👏
what a beast the 300 is
G'day Shauno, Mate the TJM mods look great but I would like to know if these mods can give Toyota any warranty outs or warranty denial/excuses?
I notice the rig your using has only covered a few thousand kms & my biggest worry is the loop hole these TJM mods may give them as an avenue out of a
claim, OR will TJM pick up any legitimate warranty claim denied by Toyota as a direct result of the TJM fitted accessories.
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated & once again thanks for a great review, Steve.
I think..as long the mod they made engineered, not gonna be problem for warranty claim..the only problem is,many part is not engineered so basically warranty gone in that part...if you didnt touch the engine part, trans part..or other major electronic part, should be ok for warranty claim
what suspension did they use
Id like to see this featured in other stuff not just up and down hills which dont get me wrong it handled them perfect. But im talking going through bog holes and possibly needing to winch itself out ect. Somewhat an "ultimate test" to prove to some people that the 300 is better then the 200 dispite its looks to some
meh...unnecessary bog hole running is for the kids who still want to play in puddles
@@markhowells13 most vids of 4wd 24/7 is them doing most types of things including what you just said? Isnt the best way to test cars and tjms equipment be taking it via mud sand ect?
Now you need to do the exact same thing in a modified Y62 and let use know your thoughts...
Not once did i see were the bullbar was used to protect the vehicle.
LoL
He actually made a point of saying the stock bumpers have less clearance and would have been ripped off 🤦♂️
Absolutely love it . Glad shauno got to drive it instead of jocko lol wouldn’t be one piece
I would have one in a heartbeat! Great looking mods on this one. I think it looks better when modified than the 200 did. RIP 200, bring on the 300's.
Also nice to see your featuring some defending in your videos. Can I ask for more please? Everyone shows the tough climbs, but we all know that coming down can me more dangerous so I think it would be great to show more of that.
Unclear if he was using the hill descent control. Looks way too tentative and using the brakes.
flexes like a land cruiser, haha
Its capable and the rear bull bar is the work of art 💯
does that truck have front and rear lockers
I like it , can I buy one of this ,to ship in Mozambique? How much for the 300 series full modified and to ship to Mozambique?
The location of the intercoolers is an issue of concern to me for potentially picking up dirt / mud etc.
I have one on order. Was told could be 14 months wait +???Who knows.I got 1k as a gamble to see what happens. Maybe some new accessories could be out
This ep was just a promotion for tjm I miss the old days genuine opinions
I like it that rig
6 months went really quick
I'll need one for the apocalypse.
Should definitely do a stock, 300 vs patrol vs new defender 110....stock luxury off roading....
Seeing this six-figure rig out here on the trails is cool. Would there be any chance that any manufacturer would create a bare bones 4wd That's just simple? Preferably without spending over 100k...
A 70 series, toyota have been making it for 40 years
@@JordanGlennon you're right.. maybe if that was available in the states I wouldn't be so salty about it 😅
While it did pretty well I had to chuckle at the comment "you can feel the articulation" - based on the videos it doesn't have any at the front and stuff all at the rear.
What type of traction boards are those?
Great off-road show guys. You may have heard this before but “why do you guys not ever have a Jeep Wrangler tag along on one of your adventures?” Keep up the good work.
Because their Nissan and Toyota shills . The odd Defender or Ranger you see on the show kills the tracks and never gets any praise . Even the D-Max is more reliable
There aren't too many wranglers, or other jeeps for that matter, here in Australia. There are some, not many. The vehicles you see on this channel are our most common ones, so I reckon that's why they're chosen.
I wonder how large the bill might be to float mine across the pond? Hmm….
They don't want to stop filming every 5 minutes because the jeep has broken down or randomly set itself on fire.
Because jeeps are boxes
Wow 🤩
that hill is crazy....i would just give up and barbeque right away
Where'd the snorkel finish at the rear bumper? !
Love u brother
What's the price for a 300 with lockers and all the TJM gear.
TJM's probably getting sweaty palms watching this despite saying to bust it out :P
I see that in Australia they use A LOT the Dmax, why not the MU-X?
because we tend to like the flexibility of setting them up with a canopy, the mu-x is still very popular here though
