Religious isn't the easiest on mulitplayer. I have a, if you use 1 charge of a missionary to spread religion to me, then I instantly declare a (surprise, if necessary) holy war and condemn every religious unit you send to me, even to my own death. If I don't get a religion I use my military to enforce which cities are allowed which religion.
Interesting strat. Although whenever I double promo Apostles (sans Yerevan suze) they frequently receive stupid Indulgence Valor, Heathen conversion, and Chaplain. Yerevan is absolutely needed to quickly dom religion.
There is a mod that gives Varangian Harald to Byzantium civ, that sounds like a fun combo too: levy units, kill enemies, farm yields and spread your religion
I have a question if you dont mind. Why dont i have mausoleum diplo quarter and kilwa in my game? I always see them in your playthroughs but cant find them anywhere 😅
Diplo quarter and maus are part of Ethiopia and Persia/Macedon packs respectively, which you could miss because they're not part of the core expansions (R&F, GS). But Kilwa should be there in R&F, so if you're not seeing it you must be playing on vanilla vanilla.

Yeah, but the AI doesn't do that. Which is why even a muppet like me can win a turn 128 religious victory on Deity.
