Ok all jokes aside i think in a game where the map is continents it would be extremely usefull to controll the sea. You can cut off enemy trade routes and there are for sure a few coastal cities that are easy pickings for your boats. I dont think its worth in a map with pangea but i think its underated

Venetian Arsenal is an amazing wonder on any map that isn't just one large land mass which tbh, I personally find a bit boring because there isnt much variety in the military aspect of the game outside of marching an army through. No crossing oceans or finding a balance between army and navy, and crossing an ocean is a lot faster than marching across land so the game feels like it moves faster. Even on a continents map, its great for establishing a beachhead and running up and down the coast capturing cities. But on small continents, fractal, archipelago, any other map with a decent amount of water, its a requirement. What I do is rush the venetian arsenal so I can be sure I can build it, then spend all my focus building up all the infrastructure and improvements across my entire empire so that it is ready for war once I unlock battleships. Then I just start printing battleship and destroyer armadas and run around the map capturing cities, until I unlock bombers and tanks to that I can take inland cities with ease.

Me too! Though the one time I tried to do peaceful domination I ended up quitting before the end because it got tedious, I love loyalty flipping enemies cities. Of course, I didn't have the secret societies mode at the time so maybe I should try again with it
Dramatic ages also makes a lot more cities turn free because the AI sucks at not getting dark ages. I've had civs get eliminated from the game in the classical age because half of their 4 city empire flipped and the remaining cities were bushwhacked by neighbours and barbs.

Every time I try to play Canada, Peter always appears to steal my tundra and accompanying pantheon if I leave it on random. I literally have to blacklist hard counters if I want to try any niche play.
I love how the end screen doesn't fit in any way and I'm very disappointed that there isn't an stream achievement for flipping all capitals with loyalty. They need to add that!

That thing with the spies leaving cities has been happening to me too! I guess when you're allied to other civs you can't do ANY spy operation in their cities, and in non-allies I've seen my spies just return home randomly.

For loyalty, there are 2 numbers, current loyalty which ranges from 0% - 100% which can't be a negative number and loyalty per turn. To flip a city it has to have a current loyalty of 0% after the loyalty per turn is added to it. This means the only way to flip a city is to get the loyalty per turn to be
"No good place for a holy district". Well... If you like to gamble a bit you can try and go for "Desert Folklore" pantheon. The AI tends to ignore that one for good reasons, but if you have a start like this it will work out nicely with the Voidsingers.

If you did this with dramatic ages you could have picked up the card that gives -2 loyalty for your wonders to further increase your pressure.
