    Hello from Illinois! You really are living the life. Watching you videos reminds me of my grandpa's old dairy farm in Wisconsin, and how much slower and natural that life is. Stuck in an apartment right now, but can't wait until I can break out onto my own land. God bless you guys!

      That is awesome! Some of my favorite memories are of my grandpa's little farm...I learned to really love the smell of "dairy air" in the morning...seriously, so nostalgic! Hope you get your land soon!!!

    Growing upon the farm when this happened to us dad would open up the bales and let them dry out. Then he would wrap them up with his bailing twine again. Fun times. Bailing twine can fix almost anything on the farm😉. Such a talented family. Love your videos

    I'm so glad that you have found a new balance in your lives. You seem so much more relaxed and happy. There is nothing wrong with frozen ravioli! It's still put on the table with love and I'm sure your conversations around the dinner table are just as good! Lizzie plays the piano so beautifully! She has become such a wonderful young person. (I was going to say lady but figured that was really too sexist and antiquated of a term because her accomplishments have nothing to do with gender. ) I'm looking forward to seeing what your other children are up to.

    My strategy for self sufficiency is having a one year pantry. Reality is that I'm up to about the 2 month mark. Food storage takes a lot of space. ... If growing all of your own food is part of your strategy, realize it takes about 2 acres per person per year... Most of us don't have access to that much land. ... You're right, do the best that you can and don't worry about what others are doing. 💖🌞🌵😷 P.s. I want to know what's for dinner because I always need menu planning ideas and we haven't had ravioli in ages, so thanks!

    • @ArtandHomesteading
      @ArtandHomesteading  3 роки тому +1

      Yay! You're welcome! Sometimes store-bought and easy is exactly what the doctor ordered. :D Yeah, it takes a lot of land to be self-sufficient (one figure we heard was closer to 1/4 acre for a family of four) except some people have done amazing things with so much less than that. We'd like to get better at that too. :)

      As a family we enjoy funny or silly channels like "Mr Beast" or "Daniel Thrasher" or "Macara Tewers"...also funny animal or kid videos. Lorajean and I really like watching "My Little Homestead" together (a lot of our initial inspiration came from them!), and I like watching a lot of thought-provoking (Veritasium) or "invention" channels (I love NightHawkInLight) or self-help channels (none in particular, just any subject we find interesting..."Charisma on Command" is interesting).
