Fun story:
When I was in my teens (with no income, just some allowance I saved from doing chores), I shopped and stocked up on cheap earphones because I kept losing them all the time. The ones featured in this video were my go-to choice. Never felt bad if they broke off, or I lost them. One day I went into this shop and asked for the specific type. I had a non-functional sample to show the shopkeeper as reference. The owner was busy and asked one of the other sellers to help out.
So, I show them the sample. The salesperson identifies the model, goes out in the back and brings the box to me. So far, it's the usual affair. I see a familiar box, I open it and to my utter disbelief and surprise, it's the Senn MX500s. Someone misplaced the Senns in this cheap knock off box.
Choice time. Do I call it or the more dubious alternative?
I quickly closed the flap on the box, said I wanted to purchase this. Handed the cash, skipped the bag because I wanted to get the hell out of the shop. Walked back home with a grin on my face knowing that for the next 6 months, I'm going to be listening to songs in a superior quality.
One of those lucky days, I suppose.

Could also be that the thing can pump more current at any given voltage, but the resistance of the headphones is just not high enough to get there with it's peak voltage.
Basically clipping sounds like these „earrape“ edits on UA-cam and they do sound very loud and hurt but don’t necessarily need more power to be played.
With analog tech that effect happens when you turn the volume up so high that the amplifier can’t handle it anymore and starts to struggle. These struggles „make a sound“ and that’s why it sounds louder even with less rated power.
Also it is possible to exceed an amplifiers rated output power when you clip it which is probably also a desired side effect for mr. dank.
@@Germanwtb that’s why they start to clip, the amp is allowed to put out more current because of the lower resistance / higher gain and clipping only occurs when the output current is too high, an amplifier can’t „produce“ more voltage, it can however try to provide more current which will end in clipping. This is also different for different classes of amplifiers and it’s very complicated, but in general it’s too high gain or too low impedance (resistance) of your speakers/headphones.

6:29 I used to have an mp3 player that kinda has the same menu as this Hello Kitty one many years ago, and if I remember correctly, that "encrypted only" setting is something like making your mp3 player write-protected or read only when plugged in via USB to a PC. Personally I found that feature useful when I needed to use my own mp3 player as a flash drive to save a powerpoint to present at school when I was in high school. I managed to avoid getting the virus from the school PC by setting my mp3 player to encryped mode before plugging it in. Though I'm not sure if encrypted mode would work like that with this mp3 player.

Im pretty sure at some point the speakers start locking up when they get way louder then they are designed to and the sound sort of starts muting, thats probably why your more powerfull device is quieter, its at that range.
Oh my god I used to have that exact same hello kitty mp3 when I was 8!! I remember asking my dad to put some songs on the thing with his computer and I took it back home to my moms place and just listened to the music for hours, it was nice. I lost it during a move to another state unfortunately…sad.
