Brilliant video. I love the videos of whiting farms and Dr. Tom
Amazing work you've done. I like that the birds have some elbow room, but they would surely appreciate some dust bath boxes and hanging items to peck at too, no? Something to pass the time.
I wonder if he breeds them to be that small for less food consumption or if he doesn't factor it in. I've been breeding my genetic hackle a little bigger every year myself but I'm not nearly the scale of his farm so it makes sense to keep them small.
These birds are beautiful!
This are great videos, thanks for sharing the behind the scenes!
"You're 5210. Be proud of that."
Thanks so much for sharing this amazing clip!
I've spent way too much on rooster feathers. Then I found out recently that Collins closed up shop and is selling off the last of his stock. Good stuff! I wish I'd have bought more. Hopefully his stock lasts awhile and I can get a few more. I saw that he dumped all of his eggs a couple of years ago, so it's done for good. Kind of a bummer.
edit - Collins Hackle Farm. Been in business for like 40 years. Tough to get though. No ordering through website - snail mail only. Checks only, no card. Sometimes they pop up on ebay.
Always fun to see the Doc. With his flock 🐥 would love to get my hands on some of those capes and necks without having to pay :-) but that being said they are worth what you pay for them . Best hackles on the planet 🌏
I'd be ornery too if I had to live in there...lol
I’d love to have a few of his chics so I could get some of his calm roosters they are beautiful. It would improve the hackles on my whiting true blues. How many eggs a week do the hens lay? Are they good mothers? Egg color? Amazing!♥️
Really interesting. I just ordered some of the Whiting True Blues one of which is a male. Would I be able to breed them? What if they are from the same clutch? Inbred offspring? Would the female offspring lay blue eggs? Much respect!
Those are his commercial birds. They aren’t the fly tying genetic birds.
this is so interesting, want to do it with like height
Do they crow all day?
"handled a COUPLE OF MILLION birds"............................!!!!!! (Me, with my five birds and one friendly rooster)
Such a noisy environment. No peace or autonomy... and then randomly picked up and flipped around. No wonder they are angry....
They are angry for one simple reason… They are roosters.
what makes you think a rooster want peace and quiet? Oh and autonomy🙄 give me a break. sometimes ignorant people are best off remaining ignorant I guess
move on ! loser !
Many of the rosters with long plumage come from stock originally bred for game fighting. That is another reason that some are aggressive.
Not very ethical.......
Neither is fly fishing, but here we are.
@@FlyFishFood I'd disagree with that one!!
u idiot ! hypocrite !!!
