Thank you for posting this. I have made a couple recipes of soap and this looks so much easier than what I was doing. Also thanks for sharing the recipe.

Good video! There r a lot of false info and myths in soap making flying around the internet. I’ve been soaping for 25 years and add the water to the lye crystals always and never had the infamous volcano scare “myth”! This way I don’t deal with the condensation around the top of my lye container. Over the years you learn how to save on washing dishes, use less water for a faster mold release and cure, faster to heat the hard butters with lye, you can use stainless from your kitchen. The only thing I would keep separate for soap making is plastic items and the stick blender. Granite countertops are okay to soap on but watch those floors especially wood ones! Covering causes the cracks. When soap loaf “heats” up that’s what causes the crack. Just place in the oven and it will be fine.

Can we replace shea butter by any other type of oil? It is really expensive

Hi - Yes, it is possible you could probably could replace it with another oil similar to Shea Butter. I have never done this before as I am happy with the outcome from this recipe using the Shea Butter. You will want to make sure its a hard oil as this is what makes this bar a great hard bar once it is cured. If you decided to try another oil, you will have to google how to do the calculation to convert it to the correct amount to use with this recipe. I am so sorry I have no idea how to do it. I just stick to the recipe and I look for the best deals on Shea Butter on amazon. If you find another oil, please let me know. I would love to know how it turned out. Good Luck!

First time to see a soapmaker melt hard oils in the lye water. I wonder why people have not done this procedure?
Just a note, eucalyptus eo is a bit irritating to the eyes for facial soap.
