My guess with the heavy nidhog flavoring is simply because you were chosen by the eye of nidhog back in arr to become a dragoon. Sometimes I think it’s really just that simple.

The Title Azure Dragoon is given to those who are the best Dragoon, the ones whose Nidhogg's Eye responds to. It happens in your DRG unlock quest, when Estinien says "The Eye, It responds to another!?" Your Inner Dragon has been Nidhogg Lite the entire time.
Yes and back in ARR the exclusive Niddhogg flavoring of the class was very sensible. Since then we have had extensive contact with several other great dragons and their aethers however, Midgardsormr and Hraesvelger foremost amongst them (the former sealing our gifts and accompanying us through Heavensward whilst the latter entrusted his eye to us for the Final confrontation with Niddhogg). So our new attacks reflecting that would have been cool. Like an ice move to show us using the aether we absorbed from Hreasvelger's eye for example.

He took the Surfeit of Aether from sealing our power to make his little body, and then the massive flow from breaking the seal to make the mount sized body. And for Hraesvelger, we gave his Eye Back. Meanwhile, as I said, the Job of the Azure Dragoon was to handle Nidhogg's eye. Our Jobstone was Alberic's, who also was a Former Azure Dragoon, thus meaning our Jobstone itself has been with Nidhogg's Eye for even longer than any other dragon. And where else do we learn our Job actions from, but the Jobstone teaching us. Even without that much lore reason for Nidhogg's shape to be used in the background, we use Hraesvelger's eye for one fight. We carry Nidhogg's Eye from the final quadrant of Azyz Lla through to Estiniedhogg being formed, directly channeling the Wyrm's energy to destroy Igeyorhm. If any dragon has a reason to be used it's Nidhogg.

Add to that the fact that every Dragoon skill we learn post HW is not from the Jobstone. It's stuff the WoL and Estinien have thought up themselves and iterated upon. So new moves including new dragons' skills would be sensible. And lastly: Niddhogg's eyes are gone and whilst the Jobstone shapes a job, the WoL has surpassed their teachings in pretty much every job-quest you push to lvl. 90. We are no longer learning skills of old, we are adding things to it. So why not expand what it means to be a dragoon. Why not finally step out of Niddhogg's shadow and incorporate the skills of the other greatwyrms.
Yeah we really need job stories back. I've wanted a story about how my machinist makes her queen since we saw queen in 5.0. And as someone that started as a Summoner/Scholar when they joined please to explain what is going on. But yes agree Warrior is perfection. Over all my fav jobs turned out great even if I wanted Wild Fire gone from machinist as its the least fun part of my main, and if a lot of people are mad about Summoner. But I think Solar Bahamut who I'm going to call Bahmaut Zero looks amazing. Odd that is goes Solar, Normal Bahamut, Solar then "Fire Bird". I'd have rather Alexander or Odin but looks good. So hyped for Viper as non of the melee DPS ever really worked for my character even if Reaper was stupid fun. Be great to finally have her have a job for every role. Warrior, Sage, Machinit, Red Mage and now Viper. Cute vid and this is coming from someone not a big fan of react vids.
I’m like 90% sure at this point anything new is stuff that we are technically coming up with/ discovering since job quests are gone and there isn’t much else the job stones do beyond like the past knowledge in our pocket sort of deal. So maybe we are just a little unhinged and just decide to see what we can do with how powerful we are? I know that doesn’t really explain like Lore reasons but yeah, it’s kinda like a loose idea maybe. Whoever gets our knowledge next.. hoo boy. I am kinda hoping that harvest moon on reaper has changed, it just feels very pointless having a button you get to use once in a fight and never again because I’m not sitting there casting soulsow over and over. So my fingers are still crossed for that! Otherwise if all else fails I’m probably going back to ninja! The changes look really neat!
Looks like Monk is getting a decent amount of new things this expansion so looking forward to that. I'll be running with Dark Knight as my MSQ class but Monk is first in line for levelling afterwards!
I might need to switch my healer main to Scholar from Sage. You can't really beat FAIRY MAGICAL GIRL TRANSFORMATION! Astro changes look interesting but I'll have to play it to see.
I just love that they're streamlining a lot of the jobs, and they're leaning towards buttons/skills similar to the roleplay scenarios where you only press one button for the entire rotation. If it makes my hotbar cleaner, I'm all for it
Notably we’ll be able to change between 1 button combos and just having every button, which is the best of both worlds, and stuff like Gnashing Fang might even get this treatment as I know many who hate that it’s 1 button
overall, i'm very happy with all of the jobs, i'm especially hyped for mch, blm, gnb, whm, sage and ast in terms of old jobs, and this trailer only makes it harder to choose who i wanna main in msq between viper and picto
They went into AST a bit later in the stream. Cards have no RNG, and each card is either Offensive, Defensive, or Healing. None are role specific anymore
I am personally concerned about the Astro card system changes. There wasn't enough info about the cards and how they work to know if it's better than it is right now.
when a character reach level 100, their should be have an amazing spell or amazing move. or even a combo attack. this job trailer is no different than the Endwalker job trailer. not impressed

Most likely that is the case. We have the draconic aether of several dragons, but Nidhogg’s was first.
