To be far, neither knew of their connection and Vergil was dying after finally escaping from the Demon World and from being Mundus' toy soldier. He's probably not in the right state of mind.
30:22 Vergil knew any man would; now is that gut instinct guess right maybe. Is it worth finding out, sure. Is life hell, and overall preoccupying..Yes, absolutely. Does a man have time to go back and ask her, "Did you get pregnant after we had unprotected ***" Probably not. Humanity is nomadic by nature.
After, all he goes to the same town. Probably the same neighborhood she lived in. Too Vader Luke Nero's arm. In search of his sword. Between sensing it and knowing where to go; he had suspicions. Hints Vergil saying to Dante in DmC5: "that was a long time ago." Oh he knew 30:22.
It's really sad when you realize why dante is broke all the time isn't because of pizzas or strawberry sundaes but because he's still putting money in the bank account for grue's daughters.
That basically sounds like captain vimes in the discworld book men at arms where one of the others thinks he is spending all his money on prostitutes but its going toward orphans and wives of fallen Watchmen
DMC 5 can be best described as a family therapy session that the world got involved with. Between Vegril and Vergil, Vergil and Dante, Vergil and Nero, and Dante and Nero, with the world being the office
Like the funny man once said: the game about Vergil hiring Vergil's brother and Vergil's son to defeat Vergil so Vergil can become Vergil, featuring Vergil.
Something interesting I noticed: At the end of Devil May Cry 3, where Vergil unsheathes his Yamato to fight Mundus, he throws said sheath to the side, traditionally, discarding your sheath was seen as disrespectful towards the katana and it's craftsman and was only ever done if the swordsman doesn't intend on sheathing the sword again (i.e. they expect to die)
Ofcourse, Vergil thinks he would die fighting Mundus. That man only died to one of the most powerful demons. He wasn't as strong as his own father, atleast not yet. So he threw away the sheath, to keep the code intact.
Part of me wants to imagine that it's a story that eventually gets passed around the entire crew, and so Vergil eventually hears of it, and then somewhere down the line, either V emerges via World of V or he just expresses himself through Vergil with a cocky attitude of "Ppfff. I would have beaten you then, were it not for circumstances." Cue Dante going either, "Bring it, book boy" or expressing he really doesn't wanna bother with another poetry slam before the others goad him into it and thus sets the stage for a poetry slam between V/Vergil and Dante.
I know some people find weird Vergil's change of heart at the end of DMC V because the game is a bit cryptic about what V really is and does, but seeing all his growth in the manga you can really understand why Vergil changes his outlook in life, he really saw humanity down, but now just like his brother and father sees them as equals and by also accepting that he was in need of not only power, but to rely on others, like his brother and son by also finally putting an end to the trauma of the loss of his mother, yeah it may have taken supplementary media to fully understand everything but I still feel very satisfied with Vergil and his little plot to get a character arc by "doing absolutely nothing".
Well half of him did something the other half sat on a chair for a few days/weeks got beat up then absorbed without really making any memories that would counter any of V's new outlook
Vergil was a tragic character through and through. His hunger for power was the outcome of a misunderstood heartbreak. As a DMC fan, i am very happy about the direction they took with his character.
I like how Nero reassembling the Yamato was basically just like Vergil summoning the Yamato back then. Stabbed by demon's, nearly dies and saying power. Like father like child.
Fun fact for everyone in the comments: The first battle between Dante and Urizen didn't just last for hours. It lasted for twenty four hours. Dante and Urizen went at it for an entire day before Nero even showed up.
A series that can summarized with the phrase: "If you want it, then you'll have to take it. But you already knew that." And it took me way too long to realize that the reason why Dante, Vergil, and Nero are so strong being part human is because Red Orbs are condensed human blood which powers up demons. And those three have human blood constantly mingling with their demon blood
Still sad to know that Vergil thought he was left for dead by his brother and mother but his mother died trying to find him and Dante only ran because he had assumed his brother died along with his mother
I love how the fifth game and manga finaly focused more in Vergil, making both brothers have well written Story and background fór their choices and behaviour
Reminds me of the backstories of a couple of kids in Deadman Wonderland the daughter thinks the mom left her for dead and tried to save herself which turned her into a sadistic person and then we come to find out the mom was blind and WAS looking for her but couldn't see her since she was blind. Heartbreaking when the two siblings fight and the brother tells her whT really happened.
It's poetic that the brother Vergil has been fighting all these years is the one to kill his nightmares. After all Vergil wants love and acceptance and Dante was fully ready to give him that when they met again.
This was really good I feel like you could have gotten into a little more detail about the sparda apprentices twins. Also how Dante was NOT ONLY saved by the sword sparda Dante was spared by the Qliphoth because he was Vergil's twin brother. The Qliphoth mistaken him as Urizen so it also created a "throne" for Dante to rest on and healed him for that month.
@@calfriedman6981 There was a bit in Nico's notes in the gallery section for "Awakened Dante" in DMC5, where she says that he was also receiving a portion of the Qliphoth's power during his month long coma
This is literally the best overall comprehensive breakdown of the story and its crazy how much time and energy you put in to piece all of this information in sequential parts
5 minutes in and he already got shit wrong, but okay dude. Crazy how much time and energy he put into this, and in one minute says the most retarded thing I have ever heard.
Agreed and most of all its fictional still godlike. I love the dedication that capcom puts into its games to make a journey to remember in time to come.
It does seem way to convenient that Arkham, a man obsessed with gaining ultimate power, just so happens to marry and have a child with a woman with special blood. It does seem more likely to me that Arkham deliberately sought out Kalina Ann and was intending to use her for her blood from the start.
or it could be that HE was the one with the preistess blood which is why the first ritual didnt work with his wife and it worked with lady, cant rule out all possibilities.
The only thing needed wasn't just preistess blood tho...? I don't remenber it being an specicif preistess's blood, just preistess blood in general and Kalinna Ann was a preistess so Lady has her blood and that's it
You know when you grow up with these games all over these years and then see something like this and everything lined up perfectly it’s just damn it hits the spot you know
No, imagine the possibilities. You could play as Mundus before the overthrow of the previous demon king. Everything to do with Sparda could be from a "the protagonist of this story DEFINITELY is not the hero of the story" and you have to recruit him and whoever else to challenge the rule of the demon king only for him to turn against you when you start your campaign on the human world
@@yashindiamente282 He's like the most important character in the lore and him just one day leaving and only assumed to be dead is a bit boring considering his power, relevance and the consequenses that came with his death.
God everytime i hear Eva's theme i almost cry cause when it plays during the scenes Dante is sad and such you can see just how much her loss affected him and Vergil
They both have 2 personalities of almost all kids who lose their parents, closed off and angry ar the world, and jokingly playfull at all times to hide that he's sad :/
After almost 2 decades, I finally understand why Dante is always in debt. He was saving money to give them to Gru's two daughters. Man, what a good devil he is... Originally, I was thinking that he's just saving money to buy himself a new coat and 40 boxes of pizza.
Honestly, Urizen's decision to basically do to Trish and Lady, what Mundas did to him really paints how far he's fallen. Even Sparda, a full-fledged demon was capable of empathy and, being in a similar situation, killing them would've been a more merciful way of getting rid of them, but instead he went with the most heinous way possible. Here's hoping Trish and Lady were just in a coma for most of it
@@j.w.5718 I'm not sure if i agree. Cavaliere Angelo threw a motorcycle at Dante the exact same way Trish did back when they met, and he (she?) immediatly recognised the sparda, maybe because the Angelo was tasked with finding it, or maybe because it was Trish's sword. I'd like to think that Cavaliere Angelo ran away from V but threw the nearest object at Dante due to how many headaches he gave her.
What I find fascinating is how Trish's conversation with V doesn't really indicate her holding much ill-will over this?? Like, Trish tells him off for leaning too much on her superficial appearance for comfort ("I'm not your mommy, V"). But even though she likely connects the dots between Nelo Angelo and him repeating that fate onto her, she doesn't call him out or anything. TBH I can easily headcanon this as a moment where Trish recognized they'd *both* been used and discarded for Mundus' bidding (like a "yeah I get it" kind of understanding). Also they had more pressing problems to worry about lmao
@@HoplessNihilistit's possible she was at least a little conscious, not enough to control Cavalier Angelo, but just enough to have a little influence on its actions
It's stories and experiences like this is something that film or shows can't capture. Growing up with the games and seeing the story unfold as I turn into adulthood is something you can't replicate. I love that you made this video and it just brings me to childhood memories experiencing the games as a kid. Fantastic video
For anyone who doesn't know. It is speculated that Dante was extremely depressed during the events of the anime and the second game due to him having to beat his brother again and thinking he actually killed him. He blamed himself for letting Vergil go in the events of the third game and had lost his reason to live. He had no family left and he also had taken revenge against the destroyer of his family. This explains why he might have lost a lot of character and his usual cocky attitude in 2 and the anime to a certain extent.
That moment when you draw the similarities. Enzo was Dante's information broker but was also Bayonetta's. Man had a firsthand encounter with demons then angels.
I really wish we would get an awesome game where the two series crossover and see dante team up with bayonetta for time setting it would have to be ether a prequel game or a sequel if dante and vergil finally get the hell out of the demon world
I like how vergil tries to sneak a slash at Dantes head and dante dodges it without a care. Kind of a vergil way to show affection by sneaking a obviously dodgable slash at his bro lol.
Even though I know the whole story of DMC, I stayed and watched the whole video due to how well it was made, great job to the team who made this beautiful masterpiece
3 is when they really started caring about the story, and to see everything coming together in 5 for that story, it's a heartwarming thing as a fan. Plus seeing that Vergil and Dante seem to have reconciled, at least on some level in the end makes me get the feelsm
@@therealchaosguy and there's still the question of, What really happened to Sparda? Yes, it was said he died but, if he did die, what did he die from and how did it happen?
@@therealchaosguy also, how will they escape the demon realm?? And if they ever will, and theres still neros story that i feel hasn't been too complete, i mean he has the book, gotta have sum to do with that
I always thought of Vergil’s return in DMC V as a badass scene, but now that I know the full story behind it and how LONG he had been gone before that scene, it just makes me happy to see it
We really need Sparda back in the game. Literally. Whether he's been alive this entire time, resurrected, or even giving us a clearer story as to Spardas story. We know the legend just not the truth
My guess is he went to fight either Mindy's or another powerful demon but without his full power they captured him and he's being tortured and maybe in 6 Nero Dante and Vergil go free him and end whatever threat he failed to stop
@@shdwfxgamerz7667 because it is, at least how I'm just gonna headcanon it, familial tradition to fight someone in your bloodline with or without reason in the Sparda family
I do also feel there is a lot of wasted potential in regards to Trish's character, her story, and characterization. It would have been very interesting to see her come to terms with her new life as a devil hunter on the side of humanity, as opposed to being a servant of Mündus hell - bent on wiping all humans out. There is also the resemblance she shares with Eva. How did she feel about it? Did she ever have a crisis over it? Did she ever feel like she was living in Eva's shadow? How does Danté feel about her? Etc.
Arguably, the DMC series has always had a character writing problem outside of the Sons of Sparda. DMC 3 gave the best side-character writing in Lady (and somewhat in Arkham, but only as far as fake-out final protagonists go) DMC1 gave personality to Dante, but the character writing for everyone else was fairly surface level. Trish is a hook for Dante and a redemption side story, little more. DMC 2 nearly killed fans interest in Dante, and tried to make Lucia cover that fact. DMC 3 is phenomenal for Lady. Multiple cutscenes focused on specifically her interactions. DMC 4 has Trish show again, but she's just sort of there, with little memorable writing to add much to her beyond what we already knew. DMC 5 gives us Niko, and she plays off of all 3 main characters throughout the entire game while Lady and Trish honestly are just... Plot hooks again, conveniently written out at the start and unused for the rest of the game except to tell Nero things that he disagrees with. Meanwhile after DMC 2, Dante, Vergil and eventually Nero are main characters and thus have a lot of screen time allocated to them, which by nature adds to the them being better written than the others. It's a shame, but my hope is that with the announcement that 5 was the end of the SoS story, we'll see more side character love between Nero and the DMC girls (here I am hoping they make Kyrie an interesting character instead of a damsel in distress)
@Corey Parker *thinks* I don't THINK so.....? She's ... if I remember correctly, either a lesser demon or a demonic construct altogether, either way she's made to resemble Eva. And visually (although some of this may just be graphical improvements) Capcom has gone out of their way to show Dante aging over the series but Trish doesn't seem to have. Lady has, too, even Nero to a lesser degree. That's a dang good question Corey, I'll write back if I find something concrete out. Take care :)
@@Gender_Ascender It's because of this that I really want a spin off game just for Lady and Trish. It could expand on their character and gameplay. A story in another medium would be welcome as well but I think that a game would be better
This video really made me understand Dante and Vergil more as a character cause I always saw Dante as this badass cool character with funny quips and Vergil as a power hungry dude wiling to do anything just to become more powerful but after this I seeing this it’s just crazy how much depth is behind their personalities
Vergil is the best character in the entire series - He is both amazingly written and flawed as a character. All aspects of who he is - From his desire to not only attain power but to protect and be protected. The Dichotomy of his character is one of the best part about the series, painting him as a heartless villain whilst also making him caring and almost protective of his brother in his most dire moments and honestly I wish that Capcom would make a game of him separate to Dante rather than just having him as a reskin. Maybe Devil May Cry 6 we will finally get a story that has both Vergil and Dante as playable characters with their own separate boss fights and separate stories/cutscenes but I guess we will see when that comes in like 5 years xD.
Played a bit of DMC when I was younger, was too preoccupied with doing deadly demon dick destroying combos to know there was an actual story to it all, thank you for the effort u put in your long form lore videos. I absolutely love them all
Y'know, I love how Nero is less powerful (at the time) than Dante, is missing in arm, doesn't have his demonic arm or the Yamato, sees Dante on the floor obviously being overpowered, and the first thing he says to Urizen is "Hey, Jackass!"
Never played a DMC game, the "flashyness" that i seen in some videos just seemed so ridiculous i never gave the game a chance. Decided to watch this lore video to figure out what it was about. I regret my decision of never playing the games.
Same, when i got hooked up to vergil's saving us from shits meme and started to wonder about dmc lore, now i'm addicted to it but couldn't afford to buy the game myself lol, maybe when i can support myself financially in the future, i'll buy all dmc game series.
V's character journey is just so beautiful in its entirety(manga and game combined). I wish the games explored character backstories in the game itself rather than leaving them for later. it would have significantly improved the gameplay experience.
The most remarkable thing about this is that most of the plot is made of constant retcons and taking previously minor details and recontextualizing them into major plot points, yet somehow it adds up to a coherent and well told whole. Also I'm pretty sure that if DMC2 had been made by the original team instead of Capcom handing the project to a different team the story would have gone in a completely different direction. Probably something more akin to Bayonetta.
Watching this video I can safely say that DMC5's story is much much more refined than anything that came before it, even if it required a manga to fill the blanks, Vergil smiling at Dante is something I found very wholesome.
3>>>>>> It literally made the story of 1 retroactively SO much better, and is the actual start and foundation to make every single game's story before and after it THAT much better
Its wholesome especially after the end of manga where V approaches his childhood self, who explained that he enjoys Fighting with Dante. The two just bickering over who Is better Is such a great siblings dynamic
Well-explained. Helped me, who sucks at action games, understand the story without sitting 2 hours to beat a stage that I've seen others end in a few minutes.
When I first saw the scene where Dante is crying , I was kid watching my cousin finish this game. I didn’t know why we couldn’t see his face like he look embarrassed. It wasn’t till know I never realized he was crying for Vergil which is so sad .
This video is just masterful, you explained each characters depressing back story so damn well especially with Dante and Vergil. And Blending it with Eva's theme, it made me tear up. Wonderful video!
This still remains one of my favorite videos ever! I've watched it over and over again and I'm not even a huge DMC fan. Something about the way you tell the story, how everything is edited, and how indepth it is just makes the video endlessly re-watchable!
At a guess, Nero was not given enough credit by several people simply because he was not Dante. Worse, if you just play the games, he really feels like temu Dante.
It is also a shame that we never got Lady's volume of the DMC 3 manga. We know from Danté's line in 3, "It's been nearly a year since we last met." that the manga takes place around that time frame. And Arkham and Vergil are shown first meeting around that time, too, and Arkham is already shown to have burns on his face, so he's already killed Kalina Ann at that point.
It is also highly speculated that Arkham is responsible for the scar on Lady's face. We do see Lady in the manga and she doesn't have any scars. It also makes sense metaphorically; Arkham both physically and psychologically scarred his daughter. It also hints that Lady was there when her mother was killed. This would have made the story with Lady all the more engaging.
I really hope they make a DMC 6 focusing on Vergil and Nero building a relationship! I grew up on these games. Watching my older cousins play then played them myself and I keep going back to them. It's honestly so hard to pick a favorite from the three sparda descendents. I love them all! I will never tire of these games and the incredible stories.
@@antgarza4031 Just create a brother to sparda that goes to them and say sparda is trapped in limbo by the personification of darkness for going against his wishes, and they have to free him if they want to get out of hell, booom you got a sequal focused on the brothers and his dad. Maybe add that sparda brother did not agree with him but because sparda was still his brother he helped in his rebellion.
Two hours of a timeline, you're an amazing narrator to the point it felt like I was listening to an audio book and more importantly you've earned my respect- which doesn't account to much given I am just some random dude on the internet pfft.
2:39:09 can we talk about how god tier it is that he edited “Bury the Light” in to this sequence? I think it actually improves the scene a lot and actually uses “Bury the Light” properly for once.
I think it would massively clash with the more serious tone of the scene if it were in the actual game. I see this opinion all the time, probably because BTL is an amazing song but I really don't understand why people wish it played in this scene
@@samuelw6529 I see your point. I agree. I just think it’s like the only time “Bury The Light” could have been used properly in game because you hear it almost nowhere else otherwise.

"I'm not letting you die!" -Nero That was the line that got me into the series to begin with. I don't remember how or when I saw that clip, but the second I heard that voice acting I backed out of the video. It was quite a while before I actually picked up the games after that, probably a couple years, but I always kept myself blind to it, knowing I'd get there eventually. And finally, today, I made it. I finally saw that part of DMC 5 for myself, after fighting my way through the series in the last couple weeks. And I'm so glad I did. I don't know what comes next for Devil May Cry, but I do know I'll be there waiting to see it.
I always had a feeling the Dante was holding back when he fought nero in DMC4. because through both fights with dante, he does not even use devil trigger or any of his styles un either fights, only using rebellion along ebony and ivory. Dante even goes on to taunt you mid fight in both boss battles when you stand still.
Huh im pretty sure he used 3 or 2 of his styles on their 2nd fight on devil hunter mode now if its the 2 modes past devil hunter then yeah 100% uses all 4 on that fight
I really hope that in DMC6 Virgil is a playable character from the beginning and doesn't just get put into the game when the special edition inevitably releases. Additionally, he should actually be part of the story and not just replay the campaign without Cutscenes.
@@fefega Oh no I actually don't want that. I have started to dislike playing as Dante because he's so complicated. I like Vergil because he's relatively simple to play.
IDK how many people caught or this or hell, even care. But @ 2:35:43 the way Dante tries to summon his sword, it failing, and him having to summon it again just puts into perspective how unfamiliar he is with his new powers. It's cool little touches like that are the reason I fall I love with games.
I also like to add this the comparison between Dante and Vergil's SinDT Dante SinDT animation have him floating above the ground and a very wide spreading attacks with monsterous roars, while Vergil SinDt animation is more "grounded" all his movements is still the same like his human form and can use other weapons in this form Yes Dante is expirience with demonic powers but Vergil is more expirience despite that this form is very new to him
This is beautifully well done and well detailed of the chronological order of the entire series. Hope we get Devil May Cry 6 sooner or later. Maybe even a prequel game that depicts Sparda's life and learn of his true fate before Eva's murder.
I like how the usage of Dante's Legendary Dark Knight outfit in 4SE is the go-to Sparda reference. That and it really looks like Sparda after sealing the Demon World. Plus the portraits have different depictions on how he looks like. Thanks for this History Vid bruv. SSS Ranked Vid Edit: There's a small info you missed. But you should know, Dante was watching Nero kick ass during his route to the Opera House/Church. Its a really small yet fast appearance cuz of Nero's spinning around
I swear no one ever brings up the fact that Nero’s arm can presumably sense anyone he’s related to. In Dmc 4, his arm pulses right before Dante shoots Sanctus, and then again in Dmc 5 when Vergil stumbles into his garage. The reason it doesn’t pulse when he’s aquatinted with V is because he already met him since V is a part of Vergil and well… his arm is gone
Also, we know from the anime Drama CD that Trish only stays with Danté for a few days before leaving. There is a bit of an error in the english translation, where Trish tells Danté, "Didn't I tell you for years to go easy on the pizza?" However, in the Japanese version, the " years" is omitted.
Since we don't know how or why Sparda disappeared, I surely hope we get to see him in the next game for the full closure. Maybe Mundus might still be alive and we could finally see them fight against each other, along with both of his sons. How awesome that will be!
Well, Sparda is confirmed dead by both the intro in dmc1 and by his apprentices in the anime. And Mundus is also confirmed dead by both Dante himself in the dmc2 novel and by the narration in Visions of V
that is right, that whole scene of him saying that corny line about filling her dark soul with light was cause her 'death' was almost like he was seeing his mother die for him again, throughout the series we see hints of that pain, when Credo dies you can briefly see Dante making his right hand a fist and the anger and pain on his face cause he knows what it is like losing someone. the rage he shows when he impales Urizen with DSD it is a kind of anguish anger, the anger one has when they do not want to do something like kill someone but has no other choice, lol let just say i know lot about the lore and such of Devil May Cry
They need to make at LEAST 1 spin off DMC game that has every character from previous games playable with a huge focus on COOP. That would be the ultimate love letter to fans along with closing up the series with a DMC 6
Keep the series going, but keep doing the multiple year time skips between games. I want a game with 90 year old Dante and Virgil fighting it out in the burning ruins of an old folks home.
@@khalifrhodes9503 But you can't deny that they *do* look middle-aged in DMC5, in a good way. The DMC Team has enough confidence in their game design skill and Dante as a character that Dante isn't stuck in the perpetual mid 20s, and I find that refreshing. It really helps sell the idea that Dante and Virgil could actually be Nero's older relatives.
@@mertondunikov1106 not needed, but we can’t deny they have many ideas. i’d like a game that shows more about Sparda and why tf he got so powerful. dude’s such a legend for every dmc fan and we know very little about him.

She seduced him and they spent the weekend together, only when Virgil felt something other than disgust at his humanity. Did he leave her there. She died in childbirth and never spoke about Nero’s heritage.
I still like to think Sparda didn't die but instead is on a secret, heavily secret mission that will come into play in a future game having to do with a dangerous plan Mundus put into motion a long time ago. I like to think that Sparda figured this out and knew he couldn't tell anyone what he was doing in order for his plan to work.
I don't think he'd leave his family too through that, plus there's even theories that he split himself and became Vergil and Dante which i really hope won't be the case, because it'll completely destroy the entire story
Or maybe he is the villain in the next game,it would make sense every demon has been defeated to the point vergil, Dantes brother had to be one in DMC5 there's no real competition so in the next game Sparda as the antagonist would make sense and bring a flashy finish to the series
@@deadopsgx8578 Well you can connect the Parallel World on DMC2 novel if Sparda is trapped between realms just to find his own world, only to see Nero and Nico

As someone who has never played these games and knew next to nothing about them before watching this video, I have to commend you for putting together such a good video! It was a really interesting watch and was well thought out and put together. I can’t imagine how long this took to make. I found myself really invested in the story, despite knowing nothing about the games beforehand
It is also a shame that DMC 4 and, by extension the Special Edition, remained unfinished. Given how many characters are involved, it would've been nice to see multiple characters perspectives; Lady dealing with The Order's interference, Trish going undercover as Gloria, Vergil arriving in Fortuna; these really would've added to the games narrative.
@@SIGNOR-G Sorry but no. DMC3 is still the best. Given that DMC4 was half assed, it failed at being the best. DMC5 isn't the best either, it lacks too many fundamental elements/values, especially with how long until it was made. 5 isn't the sequel fans actually deserved either.
“Unfortunately, he failed” These three words are chilling to hear in reference to Vergil. A character that before DMC5 was the living embodiment of the natural strive for power, and prided himself on being unrivaled amongst both demons and humans alike, losing so easily.
I want to really take some time to tell you i appreciate how much work went into this video, and how good of a job you did. Growing up, my family always had less than our cousins and neighbors, so we were occasionally gifted items that our other family members were tired of. Among these things, was a Ps2, and DMC 1, when i was about 6 years old. I loved that game so passionately, and even though i lacked the hand eye coordination, i spent months playing it until i could finally beat it. (the final scene flying out of the gross demon castle had me screaming in joy) As i got older and more titles came out, i would always buy them and play the games themselves, but as for the stories, i never knew so much was there, i was a child and an idiot. But as i watch this video, i can now connect all of the stories i experienced but didn’t pay attention to, to the stellar gameplay and long nights getting SSS combos. A piece of my childhood has been enhanced, and i truly thank you for that, EruptionFang.
Well, your analogy seems spot on. But there are some things to point out. Trish actually did die from Mundus' particle beam. Though it wasn't exactly confirmed that the Sparda sword brought her back to life, there is enough evidence that point towards it. Like how the Sparda was able to conceal Dante's presence from demons while he was in a comatose state. Also when Mundus was in his true form, Dante didn't have the Sparda sword on him which is another factor of how it seems Dante would not be strong enough to beat him at the time. (I say this cause there are people who downplay that moment saying he didn't defeat Mundus on his own, he needed Trish's help) Also the reason why the Order was able to harness demonic power was also because there was a piece of the Nelo Angelo armor that washed up on the shores of Fortuna and used that armor to create their own angelos. Also Gloria (Trish) didn't just bring the Sparda to the order, she brought the Devil Arms Gilgamesh, Lucifer & Pandora's box that the order used to open the artificial hell gates. Other than that all the info seems fine. Also Vergil left his book to Nero the same way he left the Force Edge to Dante cause Vergil is a man who believes in the winners gain rule.
Damn the way that they managed this storyline is amazing, along with the game itself is pretty much one of the best care franchises ever. Thanks for the video, incredible job! 🔥👹👏🏻
This is genuinely one of the best and most detailed videos I've ever watched. The amount of time and effort that went into this is insane. Keep the fantastic work!
At the time I started watching RWBY, I had been a fan of the Devil May Cry series for a long time. When I met the characters of Qrow and Raven, I immediately had the impression that one of the writers must also be a fan of this series of games. Raven / Qrow and Vergil / Dante - Twins - one older, not very pleasant in character, fighting with katana - younger, slightly sarcastic but rather friendly, fighting with a huge sword. In addition, the older of the twins has a child. Coincidence ? (Well, maybe) Let me know if you also had such associations.

Something interesting I noticed:
At the end of Devil May Cry 3, where Vergil unsheathes his Yamato to fight Mundus, he throws said sheath to the side, traditionally, discarding your sheath was seen as disrespectful towards the katana and it's craftsman and was only ever done if the swordsman doesn't intend on sheathing the sword again (i.e. they expect to die)
Ofcourse, Vergil thinks he would die fighting Mundus. That man only died to one of the most powerful demons. He wasn't as strong as his own father, atleast not yet. So he threw away the sheath, to keep the code intact.

A shame V never had a chance to join in on Agnus and Dante's poetry death battle.
Yeah, would've been a pretty anticlimactic end for the two considering the grand scheme of things
i have no knowledge of dmc yet. this comment has me sold though LMAO
Part of me wants to imagine that it's a story that eventually gets passed around the entire crew, and so Vergil eventually hears of it, and then somewhere down the line, either V emerges via World of V or he just expresses himself through Vergil with a cocky attitude of "Ppfff. I would have beaten you then, were it not for circumstances."
Cue Dante going either, "Bring it, book boy" or expressing he really doesn't wanna bother with another poetry slam before the others goad him into it and thus sets the stage for a poetry slam between V/Vergil and Dante.

For anyone who doesn't know.
DMC 3 gave the best side-character writing in Lady (and somewhat in Arkham, but only as far as fake-out final protagonists go)
DMC1 gave personality to Dante, but the character writing for everyone else was fairly surface level.

I personally don't like V's gameplay but having the manga context does make it far more bearable
Hearing about V and all the supplemental material was so good, i wish all of it was able to be in game.
That feeling is mostly from how 5 is the culmination of the sons of Sparda story.

Something about the way you tell the story, how everything is edited, and how indepth it is just makes the video endlessly re-watchable!
Gotta be honest: I never gave Nero enough credit and realize it only now
At a guess, Nero was not given enough credit by several people simply because he was not Dante.
Two hours of a timeline, you're an amazing narrator to the point it felt like I was listening to an audio book and more importantly you've earned my respect- which doesn't account to much given I am just some random dude on the internet pfft.
It changes with the fact that we all feel like you about him
2:39:09 can we talk about how god tier it is that he edited “Bury the Light” in to this sequence? I think it actually improves the scene a lot and actually uses “Bury the Light” properly for once.
I mean if her majesty says so.

"I'm not letting you die!"
-Nero
That was the line that got me into the series to begin with.
Dante even goes on to taunt you mid fight in both boss battles when you stand still.
the hell dude? dante uses his 4 styles in his second fight, were you blind when you play it?
He does, if he doesn't then Nero already died from the beginning of DMC 4.
@@0Chino13 depends on difficulty if i recall
@@limeangelo6019 i played it on normal and hard, i dont have the game installed but i bet its the same om Easy
Hmmmm...
A DMC game with Vergil getting Dante level amount of moveset upgrades. I kinda dig it.

Came back after playing the dmc series and watching the animated series. Keep at it and never give up. Hope you are doing well. Take care.
IDK how many people caught or this or hell, even care. But @ 2:35:43 the way Dante tries to summon his sword, it failing, and him having to summon it again just puts into perspective how unfamiliar he is with his new powers. It's cool little touches like that are the reason I fall I love with games.
I also like to add this the comparison between Dante and Vergil's SinDT
Dante SinDT animation have him floating above the ground and a very wide spreading attacks with monsterous roars, while Vergil SinDt animation is more "grounded" all his movements is still the same like his human form and can use other weapons in this form
Yes Dante is expirience with demonic powers but Vergil is more expirience despite that this form is very new to him
This game series is how my son got named, I was playing #4 when I was pregnant with him, it's always fun getting to yell dante!
Lady you did not name your son Dante! didn't you see what happens dante's mother!??
Lol
Good thing you didn’t get to play something like Asura’s Wrath at the time then lmao
That’s kinda a sweet story
Hopefully your husband isn’t like a demon freedom fighter
Dante is a pretty sick name ngl
Shoulda called him vergil though
The order belives in using a sword like Sparda, so they look down at Nero for using a gun
Luce & Ombra: *sweating bullets*
This is beautifully well done and well detailed of the chronological order of the entire series. Hope we get Devil May Cry 6 sooner or later. Maybe even a prequel game that depicts Sparda's life and learn of his true fate before Eva's murder.
Better yet dmc 6 should be with nero and sparda
DMC6 is definitely a long way to come
@@deadopsgx8578 It took 10 years for DMC5 to come out after DMC4, so... see yall in 2029.
I like how the usage of Dante's Legendary Dark Knight outfit in 4SE is the go-to Sparda reference. That and it really looks like Sparda after sealing the Demon World. Plus the portraits have different depictions on how he looks like. Thanks for this History Vid bruv. SSS Ranked Vid
Edit: There's a small info you missed. But you should know, Dante was watching Nero kick ass during his route to the Opera House/Church. Its a really small yet fast appearance cuz of Nero's spinning around
Pretty sure it's Vergil who has Poppa Sparda as a skin. Then again could be both of em. I prefered DMC3's take.
@@jdottdeestv8149 Nah, that's called Corrupt Vergil. Basically its just Vergil with Sparda's clothes but his face is super white with veins.
I have been summoned.
The entire timeline is very moving actually. Funny enough I didn’t much care for Vergil until watching this but his story really touching.
Shoutouts to DMC for having the good kind of camp and corniness
Well considering Dante already gave Urizen chance and he just ignore him, Dante has no choice to kill him even though it would hurt him mentally
Fire Sparda was able to live for 2000 years considering Dante and vergil are half breeds I would say they have a couple hundred years left.
Dmc6 is not needed at all lore-wise but we can’t stop now, can’t we?
@@mertondunikov1106 not needed, but we can’t deny they have many ideas. i’d like a game that shows more about Sparda and why tf he got so powerful. dude’s such a legend for every dmc fan and we know very little about him.

@@babyhater8062 nah man he had Dante and Vergil before he disapeard. the only thing he split was his power puting it into the three swords.
Or maybe he is the villain in the next game,it would make sense every demon has been defeated to the point vergil, Dantes brother had to be one in DMC5 there's no real competition so in the next game Sparda as the antagonist would make sense and bring a flashy finish to the series

Well you can connect the Parallel World on DMC2 novel if Sparda is trapped between realms just to find his own world, only to see Nero and Nico
I never understood how you made such a wild and obscured franchise seem so warm and heartfelt, I don't know if it your voice or the way you tell story but its really good, you even did it with the borderlands videos you made
As someone who has never played these games and knew next to nothing about them before watching this video, I have to commend you for putting together such a good video! It was a really interesting watch and was well thought out and put together. I can’t imagine how long this took to make. I found myself really invested in the story, despite knowing nothing about the games beforehand
It is also a shame that DMC 4 and, by extension the Special Edition, remained unfinished. Given how many characters are involved, it would've been nice to see multiple characters perspectives; Lady dealing with The Order's interference, Trish going undercover as Gloria, Vergil arriving in Fortuna; these really would've added to the games narrative.
ikr, devil may cry 4 could been amazing, the concept art looks so different, even nero was gonna have his devil trigger evolved

@@Ghost_of_James_Doakes if 3 had a better artstyle and the ability to switch all styles and weapons it would be the best, but i prefer the 4th
“Unfortunately, he failed” These three words are chilling to hear in reference to Vergil. A character that before DMC5 was the living embodiment of the natural strive for power, and prided himself on being unrivaled amongst both demons and humans alike, losing so easily.
im glad dante and vergil end up solving their rivalry, god tier ending
I don't know about solved, but definitely less violent and hatred to more brotherly love. But we all know those two will fight just for the hell of it
It really sad to hear Dante's struggles in life. But its also his story is a master piece.
best video ive ever watched. watched it from start to finish. incredible narration and dialect. 20/10 never enjoyed video as much as this.
(the final scene flying out of the gross demon castle had me screaming in joy)
As i got older and more titles came out, i would always buy them and play the games themselves, but as for the stories, i never knew so much was there, i was a child and an idiot.
(I say this cause there are people who downplay that moment saying he didn't defeat Mundus on his own, he needed Trish's help)
Also the reason why the Order was able to harness demonic power was also because there was a piece of the Nelo Angelo armor that washed up on the shores of Fortuna and used that armor to create their own angelos.
(Well, maybe)
Let me know if you also had such associations.
well as seen with Vergil end of dmc5 he more or less accepted his human side and faults, yet to see that in Raven in RWBY cause RT is in my honest opinion messing the series up, it just gotten stupid but that is my opinion.

That sucks because Qrow was only reminiscent of Dante in V3.. current angsty and always bland Qrow is the furthest thing from Dante now.
