@sammyssb The way the red spot works is when the pan is placed on a hot stove the Thermo Spot will heat up changing to a bright solid red. You don’t have to worry about the red spot scraping off either. It’s a part of the non-stick coating applied during production.
@WilliamAdolfsson whip them a little bit more and maybe add milk instead of water to the mixture. Don't knock the bubbles out like I did and that will give them more lift.
@JustNess78 It was more about tips on cooking french toast and pancakes. When to flip. Why I don't recommend waffles. Air bubbles in the pancakes can be tapped out. I wasn't trying to show you how to make home made french toast. These are just tips I was taught when I was growing up. the hardest thing about pancakes is when to flip. Sorry you felt ripped off. My bad.
jack people prefer waffles becuase they prefer their texture. it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. pancakes however just becomes all mushy when you add the maple syrup ... I personally don't like pancakes at all. I try to avoid it lol
@TheBlondeDude1 Here is the answer via WikiAnswers: In the UK, flapjacks are made out of sugar butter oats honey etc, and pancakes are batter things that you fry. In the US, the words flapjacks and pancakes are used interchangeably to refer to the same thing. The pancakes may have other ingredients in them, such as oats, honey, etc., but we still call them either pancakes or flapjacks.
@jakatak69 I'm so glad you pointed that out, Jack. Air bubbles = fluffy pancakes! Also, you don't want to overbeat your mixture. It's okay if it doesn't look perfectly smooth. The more you mix it, the tougher the pancakes will be. So, to recap....air bubbles = fluffy pancakes and perfectly smooth batter = tough pancakes. lol
Me I'm Dutch-Canadian and the way we always did it was to put cinnamon sugar over the french toast when its still hot. Its so much better then syrup. You got to try it.
@IamOver18SoHa Chef John is a professional cook. I have fun with food. There is a big difference. You did not offend me. There are many people out there who know more than I do. I hope to learn as I go. Thanks for commenting.
I ran out of room to comment! I also recommend adding a little vanilla extract. (A little goes a very long way). Pancakes and waffles can have fruit (not dehydrated, must be defrosted) of any kind in small slices/cubes. I have added a little bit of cocoa powder and chocolate chips to both pancakes and waffles, obviously not healthy but a nice treat anyways. Other recommends: Apples, banana, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries -- anything that sounds good.
I left a comment telling them to please consider you as you have the most deserving show on all of UA-cam. I'll be ecstatic for you if you win Jack! Best of luck!
I cant find your food network star video thing :( can you please send me the link of your video, or steps to help me view it? I would love to see it, because I think youre videos rock!
Just saying, most waffle irons also do pressed sandwiches and whatnot, they're a good value if you like to make grilled cheese or hot ham and cheese a lot.
Hey jack! I've voted for you and also check out the site as well. Honestly only your videos gives a clear view of whatever you are doing than the other 'teams' they mostly used hand-camera while yours is fixed and you have a mini mic attach to you as well . Awesome!
Waffles are very easy to make. Never get a new waffle iron if you don't have the money to spend! Go to the thrift store and pick one out. Make sure it is nonstick, and that the griddle can detatch from the unit for easy cleaning. Always use lubricant (butter, spray, both..) .. why would you add sugar to the waffle mix? I highly recommend Krustez Pancake Mix. Pancake batter should be slightly lumpy, now completely stirred. As the pancake begins to stop developing bubbles, it's time to peak.
You can make your own buttermilk. Just take say 1 cup of milk and add 1 tablespoon of vinegar and let it sit for a few minutes. Half a cup would be half a tablespoon and so on and so on.
When I was on my exchange in the US, my host father made the best French toast. He'd use the apple strudel bread you can get at costco (a quick Google search could get some recipes for it as well). The French toast turned out really sweet and gooey. Definitely recommended for French toast.
I have this thing where it's like a toati maker + griller + waffel maker. It's like you can change the plates, and it's like unstickable steel or something and you only have to clean the plates.
@masterbrown2002 the honest truth was they were all frost burnt and nasty looking from my freezer. There was only one worth showing on camera. They rest I tossed in the sink. That's my trash during filming. Then I clean it out and toss it outside. It works for me. LOL
you know that dry food has different measurements than liquids so next time you should use measuring spoons or measuring cups or the little scooper things like the teaspoon and tablespoon or the 1/4 of a cup things
Hey Jack- when I went to the food network channel every comment on the page was for cooking with jack. You should definately win. even if you dont, you still deserve it
Do the center of your French toast, come out wet and soggy? Mines always comes out like that, and it's gross, it tastes nothing like the ones I get at a local Restaurant, and I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong?
@jakatak69 The Big Boss Grill has a waffle iron, a griddle, grill ,omelette maker, doughnut maker, and a sandwich maker. You can pop in every plate and pop out.It Makes Waffles really well. I love them. It also comes with all theses recipes. :)
@jakatak69 I think BlueBajs is saying that just because the recipes are similar doesn't make them the same. It's in the way the batter is cooked that yields a different product. You wouldn't say spongecake and pound cake are completely the same because they are made with the exact same ingredients would you?
@MooseOfReason the first side was about 3 minutes. The second side was about 2 minutes because it cooks faster. It depends on the flame size. Try peeking under and seeing if it's ready.
Lol making pancakes from a box doesn’t qualify you to have a cooking show. Try making them from scratch next time anyone can follow instructions on a box.
@i8mud4you unfortunately you don't get to keep them all hot unless you microwave the bacon and hashbrowns right before putting the eggs on the plate with the toast. That works. I must have my eggs warm. Everything else I don't care.
Hey Jack, great recipes! Here in England we call you're french toast 'eggy bread', it's clear how lazy and simple our recipes are to yours, haha. And we wouldn't even think to put maple syrup on our eggy bread, good idea though!
Lol, your little mini rant about waffles was awesome. At the old diner I worked at we used to have waffles shipped frozen. We put them in the oven for 8 mins each, and people swore they were from an iron.
@ItsOnlyZeke Okay. I recommend starting like I did. Just do one cooking tip a week. The show will develop on it's own. Give your viewers one quick tip. Keep it around 2 minutes. It took me a year to get 1000 subscribers. It took me 2 more months to get to 2000 subscribers. Be sure to be patient.
NIce vid jack, i like adding vanilla nutmeg and cinnamon to my french toast, and if you want a really nice tasting french toast batter, add some Gran Marnier as well keep it up :)
lol you're french toast is totally different from how im use too... you should use a flat griddle, you can fit 4-8 pieces of french toast on it(: (less egg, more milk and cinnamon, and top with a sprinkle of cinnamon too, trust me, its awesome;)
Look how much your putting on there!!! LOL great episode! Also, I heard somewhere that leaving the bread your about to use, out for a day to let it get stale. supposed to make it better for french toast. No idea if thats true though LOL
My French toast recipe: 1/4 cup flour 1 cup milk 2 eggs 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 Tablespoon sugar This recipe makes them crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, my whole family loves when I make them! I hope you try this sometime, thank me later! :-)
YES I KNOW THIS IS 4.5 YEARS AGO Waffles are so much easier, if you get a good waffle maker. I love my Wafflebaker from Black and Decker. And you say it only does waffles? Well what about scrambled eggs in the shape of waffles? Make the eggs, then the waffles, and then OH YEAH THE BACON IN A WAFFLE MAKER. But hey, that's cool. You can continue to live your flat one-dimensional life. I'm going to have my waffles here in 3D land.
I have made homemade pancakes from scratch and honestly they are not as good as Hungry Jack/Bisquik etc premade mixes. Homemade ones are fluffier, thicker, and much more flavorful, even if they take a bit more time. Other than that, I love the breakfast of champions vids you've been doing. Keep it up!
dude i think you are a great cook and give great advice and i totally believe that you should have a show however chef john i feel is slightly more experienced no offence you are still amazing and i have much respect for you
OH MY GOD I SEE A JACK SKELLINGTON MUG! I HAVE THE SAME ONE. =D -just noticed this after posting initial comment- I'm guessing you got yours at Disneyland, Disney World is my source. :3
My dad gave me his French toast recipe when I was about 8. He does eggs and milk with a little vanilla and some cinnamon. Until today I had no idea you could do it without milk! So now I can have French toast tomorrow without having to go to the store to get milk! Yay!
i was surprised when you put syrup on the french toast i make it more of a savoury breakfast quite alot of pepper and it is very tasty i will have to try your way with some cinnamon
Ok people making pancakes from scratch is not rocket surgery. If u feel like u don't have the time to make them from scratch, whip ip the batter the night before (it's actually better when it sits in the fridge overnight).
@sbxs10 my goal would be to take my TV show and edit it down for youtube viewers so everyone around the world would be able to see it still. This is just a dream so far.
If you do ever want a waffle iron, try grabbing one on Black Friday. I'm not sure if you can grab the deals for it online too, but at the very least...we got our belgian waffle maker for $10.00. And it was like a $60.00 waffle maker.
Jack should never have made this video without making waffles. Yes, he needs to buy a waffle iron. A waffle iron can be used to make other things, too. I am offended by Jack saying the toaster waffles are OK, and then throwing them in the sink. Bad episode!
No matter what he makes he acts like its the best thing he's ever tasted.
Parmesan eggplant bites no parm.
if you look in the sink before he throws the waffle in you can see the amount of times he tried cause there are like 2 other waffles
Time stamp ?
@sammyssb The way the red spot works is when the pan is placed on a hot stove the Thermo Spot will heat up changing to a bright solid red. You don’t have to worry about the red spot scraping off either. It’s a part of the non-stick coating applied during production.
@WilliamAdolfsson whip them a little bit more and maybe add milk instead of water to the mixture. Don't knock the bubbles out like I did and that will give them more lift.
The mix is not NEARLY as good as home made pancakes. I figured you, Jack, of all people would think the same.
I always add vanilla to my French toast egg wash. Yumm!
Its neccessary!!
jack people prefer waffles becuase they prefer their texture. it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. pancakes however just becomes all mushy when you add the maple syrup ... I personally don't like pancakes at all. I try to avoid it lol
hawaomar100 speak for yourself I prefer pancakes
0:45 top right corner "jakatak69" um ok
@TheBlondeDude1

@Trofnat9 does big boss grill do waffles?
@Saaaataan glad your trying things. You will love to cook the more you do it.
your show rocks i wait every week for an episode to come out.
I don't think store-bought pancake batter is better than homemade... and with homemade batter you know what's going in them ^^
@jakatak69 I'm so glad you pointed that out, Jack. Air bubbles = fluffy pancakes! Also, you don't want to overbeat your mixture. It's okay if it doesn't look perfectly smooth. There are like 9 pages of comments supporting you on the food network channel. They MUST choose you, you deserve it!

you are good at this....btw.....there is something i always wondered....what is the differenct between flapjacks and pancakes???
I ran out of room to comment! I also recommend adding a little vanilla extract. (A little goes a very long way).

@mymoogle24 what does that mean? you can't see the food network or you can't comment on their page?
Just saying, most waffle irons also do pressed sandwiches and whatnot, they're a good value if you like to make grilled cheese or hot ham and cheese a lot.
If you use seltzer water instead of regular water when making the pancakes they come out lighter and fluffy.
Hey jack! I've voted for you and also check out the site as well. Honestly only your videos gives a clear view of whatever you are doing than the other 'teams' they mostly used hand-camera while yours is fixed and you have a mini mic attach to you as well . Awesome!
@greenlight2600 mine come out great. Your soaking them too long. Coat the outside but don't drench them bread. Try it again and it will come out nice.
@jeremylim123 thanks. I appreciate you noticing my work. It takes a lot of work on my part to sound good and have the food look good.

hey jack can u do a produce review on the sonic blade its like a knife that can cut smoothly through like hard food or something
When I was on my exchange in the US, my host father made the best French toast. He'd use the apple strudel bread you can get at costco (a quick Google search could get some recipes for it as well). The French toast turned out really sweet and gooey. Definitely recommended for French toast.

Tip : when you see the bubbles in center check it then flip it works fine with me all the time
Quick question. When I make my pancakes and cook them. The first side is perfect but when i flip it and cook it the side is not evenly browned.
@masterbrown2002 the honest truth was they were all frost burnt and nasty looking from my freezer. There was only one worth showing on camera. They rest I tossed in the sink. That's my trash during filming. Then I clean it out and toss it outside. It works for me. LOL

@obsidianwing I would love to see a european pancake recipe. I might even do a european breakfast episode.
Hey Jack- when I went to the food network channel every comment on the page was for cooking with jack. You should definately win. even if you dont, you still deserve it
@drummerlars yes it is.
3:45 , lmao wtf? he whisks, taps it on the bowl then puts it back in the mixture. GENIUS!
Do the center of your French toast, come out wet and soggy? Mines always comes out like that, and it's gross, it tastes nothing like the ones I get at a local Restaurant, and I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

jack what did u do with all that food?
@greenfated I am totally blown away over all the great comments. Now I'm kinda of nervous that the WILL call me. LOL
Hey I have a Big Boss Grill and it has interchangeable plates! you should do a review on it for other people
Hey jack! I can't really find your video submission there, are you sure you made a video under your channel before submitting?
Lol making pancakes from a box doesn’t qualify you to have a cooking show. Try making them from scratch next time anyone can follow instructions on a box.
@i8mud4you unfortunately you don't get to keep them all hot unless you microwave the bacon and hashbrowns right before putting the eggs on the plate with the toast. That works. I must have my eggs warm. Everything else I don't care.
do you cook for a living?
Hey Jack, great recipes! Here in England we call you're french toast 'eggy bread', it's clear how lazy and simple our recipes are to yours, haha. And we wouldn't even think to put maple syrup on our eggy bread, good idea though!

@Thill029 I never would have thought of that. Thanks.
@Death929 alot of people have warned me about cooking bison too long. I will be careful. it's the next video I am doing. It will be filmed next week.
Excellent!
why is there a red dot in your pan?
you can also use the waffle iron to heat and crisp up sandwiches
NIce vid jack, i like adding vanilla nutmeg and cinnamon to my french toast, and if you want a really nice tasting french toast batter, add some Gran Marnier as well keep it up :)

My French toast recipe:
1/4 cup flour
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 Tablespoon sugar
This recipe makes them crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, my whole family loves when I make them! I hope you try this sometime, thank me later! :-)
YES! FINALLY PART 2 IS HERE
@jakatak69 hey jack i cant find your video under the gallery for contestant videos
@jeremylim123 they only keep up the current day submissions on the gallery. I submitted weeks ago.
JACK!!! i was watching your steak video and i notices that you said you were doing a battle of the t.v. dinners
YES I KNOW THIS IS 4.5 YEARS AGO
Waffles are so much easier, if you get a good waffle maker. I love my Wafflebaker from Black and Decker. And you say it only does waffles? Well what about scrambled eggs in the shape of waffles? Make the eggs, then the waffles, and then OH YEAH THE BACON IN A WAFFLE MAKER.

Alexander Borsi have you tried leftover thanksgiving stuffing on the waffle iron... ;)
Dude, you didnt even mention chocolate chip cookies in the waffle maker!
The pancake 'recipe' was a little self-explaining.
Though I'm definitely gonna give the toast a try.
Keep it up!
Another option with french toast. Make like you usually do but add a slice of cheese and then top with the other piece of french toast.
Good luck Jack, left a comment over there for ya. Hope you get chosen :P
dude i think you are a great cook and give great advice and i totally believe that you should have a show
however chef john i feel is slightly more experienced no offence
you are still amazing and i have much respect for you
is your sink filled with waffles cuz i think i see one sticking out. or am i just seeing something else
Looks great Jack.
I had a waffle iron, but I had to leave it behind when I moved out west :(
I saw that too, I've also seen people make brownies with it :)
I put my comments on the food network and if they dont choose you the should Rename the channel the "fools NEtwork" because You the MAN!!!!!
you got my vote jack! Goodluck! hope you win :)
OH MY GOD I SEE A JACK SKELLINGTON MUG! I HAVE THE SAME ONE. =D -just noticed this after posting initial comment- I'm guessing you got yours at Disneyland, Disney World is my source. :3

I like to add some butter onto my french toast or pancakes along with the syrup. My question is, where's the meat? 😅
Jack, your shows are cool, fun, and your cooking tips are helpful. I don't understand why you shouldn't have atleast 10000 subscribers right now
i was surprised when you put syrup on the french toast i make it more of a savoury breakfast quite alot of pepper and it is very tasty i will have to try your way with some cinnamon
@sidney27ago good to have you back. Was wondering where you were? :D
my grandmo puts pancack pater in it (but only a pinch)
Talking about food Network show on the pancake box mix how to video... Smh
The new Guy Fietti! LOL You would do great with Diners Drive Ins and Dives!
If you add a tsp of vanilla it gives it more flavor
Ok people making pancakes from scratch is not rocket surgery. If u feel like u don't have the time to make them from scratch, whip ip the batter the night before (it's actually better when it sits in the fridge overnight).
I don't agree on the pancake mix, I prefer to make it from scratch, the difference is big!
@sbxs10 my goal would be to take my TV show and edit it down for youtube viewers so everyone around the world would be able to see it still. This is just a dream so far.
Looks great jack.
waffle magically appears in sink.... great trick. 1:20
your comment I'd really funny. I noticed that too. I think he just bought it for show??
If you do ever want a waffle iron, try grabbing one on Black Friday. I'm not sure if you can grab the deals for it online too, but at the very least...we got our belgian waffle maker for $10.00. And it was like a $60.00 waffle maker.
