  • In this video I show you why it is important to replace the diesel filter or fuel filter on your Land Rover Discovery 4 / LR4. On the one hand, a dirty diesel filter can cause you to have less power, on the other hand, it can even cause damage to the injectors or, in the worst case, to the engine itself.
You can do this yourself with a few simple steps and you don't even need a lot of tools.
➡️ 🚘 Here you can find the MANN Diesel Filter with the O-Rings (Affiliate Link):

So get to work on the filter and have fun with the video,
    Peter

Thanks Peter, for another really useful video. Super stuff. Couple of tips I would add is don’t replace all the shields / underbody stuff until you have primed the system and started it without leaks etc. Second tip (depending on how & where the vehicle is used) is to replace the filter as part of your main service interval. So whenever you replace the cabin and air filters etc. I do mine once a year, some will say that’s excessive and unnecessary, but we both know that owning and keeping a Discovery 3/4 running in good condition is all about preventative maintenance. Have a wonderful Sunday. Ty

Hi @Tyrone Messiah, thanks for the comment and I'm right there with you about maintaining everything once a year! I do that too ;)

I do oil, oil filter and air filter every 5k, I change my fuel filter every 10k, cabin filter every 10k, I change the oil for the 8spd every 60k, along with front and rear diff and also the transfer case. Oil changes are cheap.

Hi there. Never done it on this car but done on other like Ford focus and few times I got a airlock and there was no chance for the car to start I had to tow it to mechanic. Is there any chance the car would not start after I change on my discovery? Thank you

did you have to clamp off anything to stop fuel pissing everywhere?

Great video, thank you. While I’m always in the “more often is better” service camp, I believe LR schedule is every 12 months is to check and drain the water trap. I think LR schedule to replace it is longer (too long!).
Will be doing this job in a couple of weeks myself along with an oil change!

Hey @digestives, I'm completely on your side when it comes to almost completely maintaining Discovery every year! I would always shorten the intervals between Land Rover maintenance by at least a third, i.e. do it earlier or even by half in some cases. Good luck with the oil change! Best, Peter

Have you ever had a filter stuck before. Mine won’t undo

Hey, I had that once too! I used a strap spanner to remove the oil filter which you can put around the filter and turn. Something like this => amzn.to/3ueH88v It worked quite well with this as you can apply more force to the filter. Greetings, Peter

Hi Peter -thanks for the video. What is the job of the sensor? Will it not warn you beforehand if your fuel is dirty? Guess we don’t want to wait until that happens…. :-)

    • @notthatkindofachannel
      @notthatkindofachannel  8 місяців тому +1

Hey, no, the sensor is actually used to indicate whether the fuel has been diluted by water. Personally, I would change the filter every 20,000 - 30,000 kilometres, depending on how the vehicle is used and the fuel quality. However, many people only do this at 40,000 to 50,000 kilometres. All the best, Peter

Hi Peter. You just reminded me that my fuel filter is over due to be replaced. I must order one this week and replace it at the weekend. It's slightly more difficult on my D3 lots more pipes to disconnect.
    Regards
    Peter

Hello Peter, yes, unfortunately I was also a little late with mine this year. But since I didn't do quite as many kilometres, it wasn't so bad. Many greetings, Peter
