What frustrated me about these crossover games is the one & done stock ending, nobody has any unique ending screens/dialog (in English here anyway), just the same few scenes, explosion, end credits, repeat. Even the crappy one done by SNK had funny character interactions between matches.

Dude...i used to spend hours and hours just in Training mode. With all the characters and 6 friggin grooves...combinations are insane!! This then lead to big fight nights with my buddies on weekends on the ol' PS2 haha. Such good times.
It's funny to me that Robert Garcia never made it into a crossover with Capcom. Former spoiled super-rich kid, sent off to learn discipline in the martial arts, naturally talented, best friends/rivals with main character, practices a flashier version of the same martial art as said main character, known for his kicks, and sometimes considered a better character tier-wise, Robert and Ken would've gotten along great.

Oni I do not even consider canonical why they do not tell his story right .. one hour he appears as playable character and in the other game he appears at the end of an animation. I wanted to show up the whole transformation of akuma into oni. But I think it's asking a lot for Capcom.
In S groove you not only get a dodge, but you can also charge your super meter by holding down 3 specific buttons, just like King of FIghters series. Also, when your health is in red you get unlimited super, and if you charge up your meter you get level 3 super. I remember playing people online all the time and they were never ready for my unlimited supers. Not to mention dodge is great against fireball spammers. Only way to deal with dodge is to throw if someone is abusing it, otherwise once you wif you're wide open. S groove was vastly underrated. Still my go to groove to this day.
@Speed Racer It's not really lazy, its just time consuming work. A game like Skullgirls has fantastic 2D sprites, but it was costly and time consuming for the company, and for just a a roster of 12 characters.
KOF 13 was arguably SNK's best looking game to date & it had some of the most detailed sprites ever created in a fighting game, lol. But sadly it underperformed, forcing SNK to waste their talents on making... pachinko machines.... for several years, apparently, lol? That was before they went back to 3D with KOF 14 at least. So yeah, everything's probably going the 3D route unfortunately.
I LOVE how the punching and kicking (hitting) sounds in this game are so powerful, there's a lot of 'Oomph' to them; feels like it HURTS when they land. I think that they also added a bit of camera shacking too (kinda subtle, not too much; just enough). I feel that fighting games often lack the 'power feeling' behind hits. It's sometimes also linked to the game's overall presentation. I mean just Killer Instinct I think is one of the best example I can think of, because it's so bombastic and a visual spectacle with all the particles and lighting effects flying around the whole place. It's amazing when we get fighting games like that.

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum kinda did the same thing with the "multiple boss system". Depending on certain conditions, you get to fight 1 out of 4 different bosses, and the 4th boss, Goodman, is pretty much the "ultimate boss" out of the 4

Seeing you play this game brings back memories when I used to play this on my Gamecube years ago. This was my first technical fighting game and getting to that final boss just to see who you'd fight was always exciting!
For the Secret Bosses you need 1500 ( and enough points before the Bison/Geese to fight them as well ) or score a FINEST/DRAMATIC KO! before/during the final tournament round.

V-Trigger from SF5 reminds me of N-Groove from this game. I like N-Groove too, especially the run, the roll and the damage of a super with the charge on do more damage than a level 3 C-Groove super.

That theme that plays on the osaka temple rooftop is the same one that plays in the ashford mansion in resident evil code veronica. I've also heard it in a anime series too- though i forgot which one it was. :DDD
This Battle is about to explode haha. Such a solid crossover from back in the day; put some miles on my Dreamcast! Remember the color editor for the character sprites, so cool! Oh and bring back rival schools!!!
One of the best things about this game is how good it feels to play it. The mechanics, the sound design, the presentation... heck even just watching someone play it gets you pumped.
It's actually not random as to which final boss you get and most people don't realize, sadly like you Max, that the CvS disk actually has a built-in microphone feature that detects how many times you say "Fighto" at the beginning of matches and how many times you say "SICK!" which then determines which final character you fight. Only three more "Fighto"s and the game would have let you save your game and would prompt you to load your Resident Evil 2 disc which would unlock Akuma as a playable character in Leon's W campaign. It's sad really that you didn't know this or the lore behind it but keep trying Max, you'll get it someday I berieve in you!
the last bosses were not selected randomly,it depends on what character you pick,pick capcom character then you get snk bosses either god rugal or regular rugal,and if you pick snk character then you get capcom character either shin akuma or regular akuma,like the previous cvs 1,you pick capcom character you will end up fighting geese,snk character end up fighting m.bison,just for your info
I feel like KOF and Street Fighter were always the big titans of fighting games. I know KOF is not that popular in the US or Europe but I still think it's one of the best and most complex fighting games out there and it's like a twin brother to Street Fighter. Best crossover even above Marvel imo.
one thing i love about CvS is Capcom's sprite work on the SNK characters. it feels like such a fresh take on them, especially as the ones in KOF were starting to get stale around that time.

Ahh man soo many memory battles. #1 in fighting games (my opinion). Our favorite thing was playing with a copy of SnK2 with either the MvC2 soundtrack sync or SF3 Third Strike soundtrack sync for Dreamcast. Also fav team was Hibiki/Blanka C or N groove.
My favorite fighting game of all time. Really miss it, hopefully one day they will bring this back and put online so I can fight people again like used to in the arcade.
I found the arcade cabinet for this game at goodwill drop off and took it home. A few days later my buddies wanted to bbq but we had no wood so we broke up the arcade and threw it in the pit and we roasted some weenies. Good times.

the last bosses were not selected randomly,it depends on what character you pick,pick capcom character then you get snk bosses either god rugal or regular rugal,and if you pick snk character then you get capcom character either shin akuma or regular akuma,like the previous cvs 1,you pick capcom character you will end up fighting geese,snk character end up fighting m.bison,just for your info
Why is the final match playing Silent Hill 2 music??? It's specific to the scene with James & Eddie in the meat locker. Weird o_O
After all this time i realized Hideaki Itsuno is the one who directed this game. Now wonder the gameplay is awesome.

I feel like KOF and Street Fighter were always the big titans of fighting games. I know KOF is not that popular in the US or Europe but I still think it's one of the best and most complex fighting games out there and it's like a twin brother to Street Fighter. Best crossover even above Marvel imo.
Probably one of my fav fighting games of all time. Makes me wonder if MvSnk3 or something of the sort, will ever release in the future.

one thing i love about CvS is Capcom's sprite work on the SNK characters. it feels like such a fresh take on them, especially as the ones in KOF were starting to get stale around that time.

London stage and song is one of the best post SF2 stages and theme.
Ahh man soo many memory battles. #1 in fighting games (my opinion). Our favorite thing was playing with a copy of SnK2 with either the MvC2 soundtrack sync or SF3 Third Strike soundtrack sync for Dreamcast. Also fav team was Hibiki/Blanka C or N groove.
This soundtrack...man, it's on another level!
My favorite fighting game of all time. Really miss it, hopefully one day they will bring this back and put online so I can fight people again like used to in the arcade.

I love the roll evade at the end. I still suck at this game but I love how Ken play in this game and this is my favorite version of Bison.
I found the arcade cabinet for this game at goodwill drop off and took it home. A few days later my buddies wanted to bbq but we had no wood so we broke up the arcade and threw it in the pit and we roasted some weenies. Good times.
It was nice to see they put in some of the EX fighting game stuff into this, like Bisons kick throw.
