Universal Overhead is Down Down + any button
Every character returning from New Gen has their original color on HK
In the air, parrying with forward sends you backwards while parrying with down sends you forwards
Urien's cMP animation is ever so slightly different
Shin Akuma requires 3 Perfects, no lost rounds, and less than 3 chip wins. You also gotta land a super finish or perfect on Akuma when you get to him
Sean builds stupid whiff meter if you hold back whilst doing his normals.

Max wanted to fight Akuma in this game but didnt. He even PLAYED AS Akuma in his Akuma Legacy run.
To fight Akuma you need to get at least 2 perfects and at least 4 super combo finishes without losing one round. If you defeat Akuma with a Super Combo finish, Akuma will resurrect as Shin Akuma.

Everybody talks about 3rd strike because it’s more geared towards competitive play and difficulty and combos and what not, but his 2 older brothers New Generation and 2nd Impact have some the best art and music in the Street Fighter series. I swear when I was playing New Generation and I went against Alex, I heard his theme start playing and I said out loud to my self in absolute awe, “how is this stage theme so good?!”
Imagine if capcom made a new 2D street fighter. Itd be interesting for sure
If it was any good as this game, it would be the first Capcom fighting game that I would buy day one. Sadly, I don´t think that´s going to happen. But we still have Arc Systems Works and Frech-bread. Cheers.

Absolutely love 2I man, one of my all time favorite SF games. I’ve honestly always preferred it to 3S. It’s just a lot more vibrant and it has a better soundtrack, presentation, and stages imo. It’s also a bit faster.

I really wish they made third strike in wide screen, hell I would love the alpha games in wide screen too.
Same... I play on fightcade with my TV and it's sad to have it all stretchy, but also annoying to have it on 4:3 with two giant black bars
The only issue is that widescreen changes the way the game is balanced due to increased breathing room. For instance, Oro might have a problem getting to the opponent after he fires an EX ball, the small screen space allows him to super jump fullscreen over after firing it, allowing him to put on pressure fullscreen away.
SFIII: New Generation actually had a widescreen feature that can only be done through debugging if I remember correctly.
Honestly, all of the CPS3 games should have had this feature other than Second Impact. Can you imagine Red Earth and Heritage for the Future in widescreen?

This game specifically is the shit! It upgraded everything in New Generation and made it better, but without nerfing everyone (*Cough* Sean *Cough*). I love this game! 😀

2cnd impact's stages alone make it better than 3rd strike. And it's themes are more "Q sound" sounding than 3rd strike, even though I fucking love the themes in 3rd strike.
I think I get ya.2nd impact soundtrack felt very.....capcom for its time,while 3rd strike(fuckin awsome and memorable) has its own style,with a hip hop jungle type beat.kinda like how alpha 3 felt very different from its predecessors imo
That’s literally how I’ve always felt. I grew up on 2I man. 3S is great and all but 2I is just a more colorful vibrant game with better stages, presentation, and soundtrack. It’s also a little faster.
Competitive wise 3rd Strike is better, but for overall gameplay that's 2nd impact, there's just so much more to it

Interesting to know there's a big Typo in Sean Vs. screen, the screen shows the locale as "São Pauro", even though the name of the city is "São Paulo". Even funnier is that on the truck in the background of the stage, the name is spelt correctly.
I always liked Second Impact better. I hated the changes they made in Third Strike. Especially the music and Sean's animations.

I think it's just who makes the sprites does it weird. SNK overshot his height in SVC Chaos and in others it's because they change the sprites each time

"All the characters are just a little off"...said NO ONE who actually played New Generation and 2nd Impact in arcades at the time back in 1997. How do say some bullshit like that then but then double down on that shit by saying "its a little bit not 3rd Strike", the SEQUEL. C'mon guy.
Most here didn't even play this series until after EVO Moment #37 and those same are second generation Capcom players who got in because of either Capcom vs. SNK 2 or Marvel vs. Capcom 2, basically the veterans of the American FGC today. This game along with its predecessor were Dreamcast exclusive until earlier this year.
Antonio C. R. Murray Yea exactly man, I grew up playing New Gen and 2I in the arcades BEFORE 3S even came out. Most people seem to have started with 3S, and don’t know anything about the first two games. Most of them bandwagoned 3S off of that EVO moment. I personally like 2I the most out of the 3 series. It feels faster and I love the presentation and soundtrack.
